    The gains are dependent on the impedance of the source signal and also on the power handling of the speakers receiving the amplified power.

    In the grand scheme, it's all personal taste for sure. I would typically set the frequencies to best match the speakers range. If the mid range says 150 to 5k... well, set the crossover as close as possible to max and min of that freq. range without going beyond. That way you are maximizing the speakers ability.

    Great how to mouse, setting crossovers can get confusing

    I think this is one of the best videos I found so far. I watch another video that said the gain is like volume(which I believe is isn’t since it changes the frequency), and I found it weird

    If my amplifier doesn't have high pass would this crossover allow the highs to play clear or would it still have only low pass?? I need to know before I purchase another amplifier

    KooL I wish my installer would of used one of those manual control crossover devices instead of a high-end technical DSP helix MK2 to which I don’t have a freaking clue how the first thing about using that thing, ps sucks hearing these systems recorded by phone and listened through ph because it sounds like distortion like the sound of that plastic or fabricated door panel

    my tweeters crossover is 3.1 kHz so my mids need a lowpass of 3.1 kHz this DSP can’t work for me

  • @ULSB1969
    @ULSB1969 Před rokem +1

    The tweeter frequency settings are especially prone to at least double the FS frequency spec. You don’t even show the frequency range of each component, that would give a better idea of where your frequency setting should be. Another thing you didn’t explained is your frequency source, what spectrum does it have, is it full range or mid to high? Full range is what your crossover calls FLAT, and if you go FLAT, there is no point to using a crossover, unless you use passive crossovers, which defeats the purpose of an active crossover.

      You don’t have to but it helps really define the sound that much better.. separate Eqs for everything is good as well

    • @spacecowboy1924
      @spacecowboy1924 Před 6 měsíci +1

      No, a good digital signal processor will do everything and more than a standard eq or crossover can do. Adding one would be a waste.

  • @ULSB1969
    @ULSB1969 Před rokem +1

    You don’t know what you are doing with the mid frequency, you need to check the FS spec for the mids and go up by 50% of the frequency, up to 100% of the mid frequency, your high pass should be based on the FS of the mid, your low pass should be based on how high the mid frequency can play.

  • @ULSB1969
    @ULSB1969 Před rokem

    Why are you using active crossovers? Most amps have crossovers built in, or the way to go is with a DSP. Even aftermarket stereos have crossovers built in. Those external crossovers are dinosaurs, you are in the past.
