- This is videotaped footage of the launch of Toon Disney, a now-defunct cable/satellite television channel. It was rebranded on February 13, 2009, being replaced by what is now known as Disney XD. This video includes a few launch promos, the first bumpers the channel aired, and the first few seconds of "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" which was the first program the channel aired.
Note: There is what appears to be some satellite feed interference in addition to VCR tracking issues; it is being presented as is since I didn’t originally record it.
All credit goes to Disney and thanks to Jerry Beck who recorded the launch. I do not own this footage or the rights to Toon Disney and this is only posted for archival purposes. No copyright infringement is intended.

I watched this along with Boomerang and Nicktoons TV as I grew up with Disney Channel, Cartoon Network, and Nickelodeon and everything surrounding them. What I wouldn't give to go back to those days.

25 years ago... Disney magic has gone cartoony as Toon Disney was very first broadcast on Saturday morning April 18, 1998 at 10:30am.
Lord the God in Heaven, please change our past back in reality here on earth. So that, my sister, Jennifer Tang and her friend, Dylan Lewis will be born as their new lives back in reality here on earth on August 1st, 1993. I remember my siblings and I begging our mom to get cable for us so we could watch toon disney.
It's nice to see it's launch video since I don't remember seeing this because it was my go to station for years along with cartoon network of course.
Toon Disney's logo had the characters jumping out the TV screen (Mickey Mouse, Pooh, Chip 'n' Dale, Donald Duck, Goofy etc...).
The first 6 years of Toon Disney were amazing from what i've seen. When Jetix launched in 2004 though it lost it's identity
They truly were. It was basically the Golden Era for the channel. It was still enjoyable outside of Jetix but kept falling further off until Disney XD came around. I first watched in 2002 and it was some of the best kids’ TV cable had to offer then.

We didn’t get this I’d say three years later after it’s launch where by then they were getting ready to go through changes where eventually it would turn into either another channel or Disney XD. Our cable provider was always waiting until the last minute to get channels like this where by then, changes were always being made that I’d miss out on everything.

I was in Second Grade Elementary School coming off from that EF-4 Tornado in Oak Grove Birmingham where 33 people were KILLED. The Day after Disney Channel Celebrates it's 15th Anniversary, three years from now they'll be old enough to Vote and Old Enough to Graduate High School and OFF to College in 2001.

Toon Disney is better than Disney XD
It was ridiculous to see the perfectly good channel Toon Disney shut down and be replaced with Disney XD. They could’ve created a whole new channel and kept Toon Disney.
Now, if they did this, we’d see brand-new series like Tangled: The Series, Big Hero 6: The Series, The Legend of the Three Caballeros and Monsters at Work. Plus, we would get movies premieres that we didn’t got on Toon Disney like The Little Mermaid (1989), Beauty and the Beast (1991), The Lion King (1994), Anastasia (1997), Tangled and others.

How sad. My parents provider back then when I was a kid never got Toon Disney. Only Disney Channel... which sucked, cause they removed so many cartoons.
