(Heb 9:11-14)
Part 2
I. The New Covenant Sanctuary is Heavenly (v. 11-14)
A. It is of a Superior Substance (v. 11)
B. It is based on a Superior Sacrifice (v. 12)
a. Redemption Summarized:
1. People are redeemed from something; namely, from the marketplace or slave market of sin.
2. People are redeemed by something; namely, by the payment of a price, the blood of Christ shed for us on the cross.
3. People are redeemed to something; namely, to a state of freedom; and then are called to renounce that freedom for slavery to the Lord, who redeemed them or set them free.
C. It produces a Superior Service (v.13-14)
a. Jesus’ Sacrifice is Better than the Animal Sacrifices
1. His was voluntary. The animals had to be restrained.
2. His was rational. Jesus knew exactly what Hid death would accomplish, the animals did not.
3. His was a willing obedience to God’s will whereas the animals died unwillingly, based on God’s command.
Point to Ponder:
Those who have trusted in Christ can serve the Lord with a clear conscience and a joyful heart, all because Christ is better. Do you know Him?
