    Living in south Louisiana we have crawfish mounds popping up in the yard, especially when it rains a lot. So I have grass and mud under my deck. I do the same as you. I wipe the deck down with whatever oily product I have handy. Today I found a spot where the concrete driveway edge allowed me to partially scrape off the worst areas without having to remove the deck. I remove deck completely three times during the cutting season then before saving the machine for winter. Thanks

    Great job, I need to do this too. If I'm feeling lazy I'll just jack up the front end and power wash underneath, Some times when I do scrape it all out, I'll get some orange paint and give the underside a couple coats. Has to be a sunny warm day for that.

    Ospho takes care of rust that want we use in the marine life on motor vessels it's a rust inhibitor. It's not cheap but it works great on rust prevention.

    To some it's very informative on how to take the deck off but... you can just jack the front and hose it out. I own a zd221 since 2013 I have about 2100 hrs on it. After I mow 10-20 houses a day I hose out the deck and then run the blade for a minute or two just get rid of the water out off the spindle.

      Nice.at least you are prolonging the life of that deck.I mainly do it for oil in the tight areas that you can't see.equipment is too much money today too neglect.It's also nice to here that machine stands up to everyday work.Thanks for comment and watching.

    Very helpful video, thanks. I have two questions though. Why didn’t you utilize the lifting crank located on the front of your mower? And second, why not prime and repaint the underside of the deck? I would think it would last longer. I feel the oil will be blown away after the next cutting.

      Nothing wrong with painting and priming.I just like the oil because it seeps into every nook and crack where grass juice and dirt tend to sit.Been doing it for many years and never had a deck rust out.Just like oil spraying my vehicles,Im kinda fanatical about it.As far as the lifting crank goes,Im always gonna pull my deck on my machine.i wanna see up close and personal everything under there,without laying on my back and torquing and twisting around trying to reach areas that I really cant see with clarity.Thanks for watching.

    Use the pins you took out of the deck and bring the arm back up by the step on the orange on the lip of the edge and slide it through then you won’t need the bungee cords just a suggestion I do the same

    Good job but my husband was more interested in that F-250. He is a big fan of the OBS style as he has had several of them.

    You know under the frt cover were the frt caster wheels are theres a crank soo you can jack up the mower right? The whole assembly starts turning up in terms lifts up the frt of the mower. I use a power washer with a turbo nozzle no dust only takes about 5 mins an the bottom looks like new. Then i let it dry then repaint it . While I have it off I change the gearcase oil to.

      No jack,optional.The front cover includes 1 locking pin that allows the front axle to float or lock up ridgid.But i do appreciate the tidbit of info,and also that you keep your equipment in good shape.Thanks for watching,and commenting.

    Does your Kubota have the lifting system at the front of your machine? You fold down that black cover with the Kubota emblem on it and in there is a crank handle to lift the front of the machine. I have a ZD28 and a Z331. We use the jack system to lift the front of the machine and scrape the deck every week. We also use that to get our blades of because we sharpen them every week too.

      @northeasterndirtandpropert7974  Před 2 lety

      No lift,just pin to lock or float front axle.I don't sharpen every week,but try to stay on them.Thanks for watching.

  • @sweetsuccesstrading5097

    I’m Surprised they haven’t added a Factory Option for a Bedliner spray for the Mower Decks, instead of having to do it yourself

    I've seen council workers drive their mowers down the local lake boat ramp and churn the water for several minutes to wash them.

    Just curious on your thoughts on a paint before oil?

    • @northeasterndirtandpropert7974
      @northeasterndirtandpropert7974  Před 2 lety

      I think its a great idea.I just don't because I routinely(yearly}clean and lube the deck.I try on most everything to do a year end lube or spray.The thing about rustproofing is it creeps into areas where moisture and acidic grass sits and begins oxidation of the metal.Thanks for watching and i will be completing a vid on blade balance and sharpen for the average home owner.

      Not this particular mower.it has the bracket for the lift.It only has 2 position locking pins on the front axle.1 for axle lock and 1 for axle pivot free float which i run all the time for contouring of the lawn.Thanks for watching.
