In less than 10 secs he has started explaining his topic. PERFECT! When I am working and need help I don't need a three minute intro re-explaining what the title of the video has already told me. I just need to know what I came here to learn. Perfect video. Thank you!

A couple years ago I reverse engineered the bank rules so I can make them in Excel in bulk. If there is interest, I will do a video breaking down the different parts of the bank rules so people can do the same thing!

Just tried this out of faith and now I can't import any rules! Damn! Everything looks good in the "Select Rules" Section, but when I get to set rule details it won't let me move forward. All the Payees are matched, all classes matched, but it does not have a drop down box to match categories... I tried it in incognito mode as well same issue.

I am getting an error when I try to upload, "Sorry, this isn’t the correct file type. You can only import a file that was exported from the Rules page in your other company." trying this in Aug 2022. Did an update block this ability?

Followup - Do you have to delete all the existing rules if you made a name edit for each old rule? (maybe that explains my question above?)

Thank you for watching and commenting. Sorry the image was blurry for you. I always try to record in 1080p or greater. Good news though, QuickBooks Online has made it much easier to remove the auto-add rules right from the rules page. You can select a drop down box on the left side of the rules table to quickly remove all auto-add functionality while retaining the rules.

Hi Mathew. You should remove this video. QB changed the way to remove Auto-Add. Just hover over "Banking" and then click on "Rules". Then just do what you need to do with them.

      HI @gabrielwajner1600
I just went into QuickBooks Online to look at what you are suggesting. I know that you can manually go through and change one rule at a time BUT if you have a lot of auto add rules, this is a trick to try to speed things up a bit.
I cannot tell you how many times I have jumped into a company's file and found 30-50 auto add rules causing challenges.

@@Parkwayinc Perhaps we have different versions of QB. In mine, click on “Banking”, then click on “Rules” (upper left of the screen), when it shows all your Rules you check each rule you want to modify (little square box on the left of each rule) and then click on “Batch”. This way I do them all at the same time. I actually got rid of over 50 “auto-add” in less than 30 seconds.
