I would disagree with this assessment, he is looking quite decrepit and mentally scattered… it makes me really sad because last memories i really have of him, he was still in his prime. Unlike now

Simon was rightfully upset that a lot of what he writes gets pushed to the side when Robert picks and chooses which tunes to pursue. So Robert has Simon at his side to emphasize that it's not all Robert, Simon is an important part of the writing process also. Well ok but turns out Simon is not comfortable speaking to the press in interviews, being an Introvert as he is.
Actually he does write a lot of the songs he is the other songwriter in the group

he wisely chose to invest in Cure the live juggernaut when he clearly lost the ability to write songs and mainly lyrics
He writes new material continuously. Recording and releasing material is another matter.

GET RELEASING YOUR DAMN ALBUM. 2008's album was lazy and should have been a double album. The young Robert would find the old Robert ridiculous for taking this long.
I don't understand how a band can have enough finished material for a double album, and yet still be considered "lazy."
