When the DSI XL came out, I literally was pestering my mom 24/7 to get it.
Yeah, I love the DS, it was part of my childhood, I got my DSi in like, 2013 and I’ve been playing it ever since, nostalgia.
It's mainly because of nostalgia, realistically the 3ds family is better because of the fact it can play 3ds games, and most of the exclusive features on the dsi are on the 3ds. But don't get me wrong, the dsi have it's advantages, like for example, battery life, flipnote studio, a more authentic experience playing ds games and shop music that just slaps.
I love the way the dsi xl looked
I think that the DSi XL is Nintendo's greatest designed handheld

Thanks for the comparison. I am an old mom of a 19 yr old serious gamer. Who has no idea I'm thinking now after watching your demo of getting him the new one as a reward for his great job of college working 2nd yr on his bs in engineering w NC State. I was still playing old school games on a plain ole dis but the back warped and I may be able to use his old dis xl. Again thank you.

I have all three and the DSi XL is def my favorite, much more comfortable to hold than the 3DS’. Such an underrated console and definitely doesn’t get the hype it deserves especially since it included an XL stylus.
It’s different for people because I prefer the new 3ds XL and have every type

Oh my god, thank you... Me and my BFF have been arguing on wether or not he got ripped off because we had different looking 3DS XLs. Turns out, he has the new one and i have the old one. You are a frickin' life saver.

I just ordered the New 3DS XL in metallic black for just under £180, I am hoping to pick up a few games when I go to collect it, so excited.
I am so glad the volume switch is on top because I always change the volume accidentally with my palm
I'm getting a regular new 3ds some point this year. wish I knew about it last year or I would have saved up for it earlier. it also was released in Europe and US on my Birthday!
my man you need the xl. it is totally worth the extra and there are more designs
sir. I'm sorry to correct you and I'm sure you have been corrected on this already but on the new 3DS XL the little "sensor" next to the front facing camera is actually an inferred light to light up your face in the dark so the 3D will still work during dark play sessions.
The best change is moving that volume button. I hate when I'm playing a game and the side of my finger accidentally moves the volume button on the original 3DS XL.

I hate that about the old XL too, volume slider always getting bumped up and down
ikr, and the thing was, there wouldn't be a problem if the 3ds xl's volume slider wasn't so flimsy and easy to hit. I wish it was more stiff so it would be harder to accidentally slide it up.

I've had my Nintendo dsi for about 5 years and I was thinking of getting the Nintendo 3ds XL, since I couldn't play 3D games on my Nintendo dsi. At first I wanted the new Nintendo 3ds XL, but I'm happy I got the older 3ds since the location of the volume button, stylus, etc are very similar, if not the same on the Nintendo dsi, since I've already gotten used to the placement of the stylus, volume button, etc. It just makes it easier for me to play.

The DSI XL was the most premium feeling out of them and the best one to play DS games period
There's a few things I think are weird about the 3DS models, like how the screens are different sizes, and how the game card goes in a different place in the new one
But I wanna play 3DS games, so I'm probably gonna upgrade anyway

I originally own the DSI XL which is getting dull and willing to upgrade to the 2DS XL. I'm curious if the 2DS XL can stream youtube. Plus, it's cool to have a toggle feature for steering racing games. I am 100% witching to the 2DS XL

I am personally a huge DSi XL fan and bought me another one since I traded it in for a PS Vita. I love my Vita but I just wanted to have the DSi again. My little brother when he played my Vita liked it a lot, so I am torn on keeping it and giving it to him for Christmas. I don't know yet but I will make my decision before next month that's for sure. Right now I am having a lot of fun with my new/used DSi XL so it's going to be a hard decision for sure. :)

outspolsis Actually there is still plenty of RPG's, sports games, and compilations coming out for the Vita until the end of next year, so at least Vita owners will still have that. My brother loved my WipeOut 2048 game and my Uncharted game for the Vita, so that will give him plenty of hours of play if I give it to him for Christmas. +fireheartis1 I play my 3ds xl and dsi xl a LOT more than I play my PS Vita. PS vita physical games are not being produced much now, and are still expensive used and that proprietary memory card for the vita is still way too expensive to get enough gbs to download lots of games.....while the vita screen is GORGEOUS and Nintendo can't compare to that at all, I say giving the vita to your little bro is no big loss and he will be happy and if you live in the same house you can still play it... :) PS Vita is slick but IMO Sony KILLED it with those expensive memory cards and it not working with hardly ANY ps3 games

I got the DS Lite back in 2006 (Onyx Black), when the DSi came out... I saw no need to upgrade... all my games still worked with my DS Lite, so personally... I always viewed the DSi as a worthless money-pincher DS from Nintendo, it was not necessary (Just recently upgraded to the 3DS, however I believe I got a defective DS.. the audio is louder then should be (compared to other 'new' 3ds, mine is much louder then normal), and the hinge is making LOUD click noises when locking into place.)

I got the New 3DS (non-xl) which is super hard to get here in the US. It feels super high quality, with an all-matte finish and the interchangeable faceplates. It's far and away the best built Nintendo handheld I've used. quality-wise it's on a new planet compared to my old DS Lite.

TheHalfCatracho I got the Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer bundle while it was still available. the faceplates come with the bundle 3ds's,- I got 2 sets of Happy Home Designer faceplates included, But i'm going to change them out, i don't like them. :P

In my opinion, the New 3DS XL look really cheap, the DSi XL looks much better built. The New 3DS XL design isn't as appealing as the other two.

I own both and this is true, however you just buy a $5 protective case and you end up with a bit bulkier better feeling system and with a good grip.
And the 3D is wayyyyyy better in the NEW 3ds, the old one actually takes a bitv of concentration just to keep the 3D in place.
Im glad I waited to be honest. I got mine cheaper. Its easier to transition to from a dsi(so called "old" one) and to me the second one looks like the 3ds's mentally handicapped cousin. Why do you need to switch so much crap around?!! The finish might be "sexy af",but it might be a good money saver to get the first one. At least it was for me

I bought this new 3ds xl for myself and one for my fiancé and both agree that the 3ds's type of 3D effect is totally sucky and just causes headaches after a few minutes of looking at it so we turn the 3D off
try a 2ds it for people who dont use 3d on 3ds and it has circle stick and everything like a 3ds

If the DS i XL had the screen size of the 3ds xl and the analog buttons, the dsi would be the best out of all 3. I hate the sliders on the 3ds xl and I don't necessarily need 3d. And overall the ds I just looks and feels better
