Currently have a 2014 Kia soul 2.0 l engine and it idles fine but when I drive it, it only accelerates up to 40 mph at 3,000 rpm. Both fuel pumps read fine on the scanner, and intake is clear. Vacuum gauge reads fine also. What els should I look into before removing the exhaust?
You can watch the scanner data of the O2 sensors upstream do a first gear wind out on the floor. If the O2 sensors go full rich, 800 mV or above the whole time you have it on the floor, than it is not a fuel delivery problem pull your exhaust.
Same thing with mine. 2016 2.0 had a lot of valve carbon build up. Used CRT about 5 times in two years and now Cat is clogged. Bet it is the carbon from the valves.
I have a 2015 kia soul 2L engine, no codes no engine light but oftentimes when I drive it, it slips sometimes between 40-50mph and sometimes at past 60mph, it doesn't do it all the times just oftentimes I took to 2 mechanics and transmission shops they all said transmission oil level is good but unfortunately it didn't slip when they test drove it. Any idea what that could be?
To Lakes Automotive Diagnostic, great video. That being said, at the other end since it is welded, can I use an exhaust connector.? I would have to cut it in half. What size is that pipe in diameter and what size is the exhaust connector in diameter I should use? I have already seen what tool is used to cut that pipe???? Any suggestions?
Are you thinking of putting a straight pipe in? I would guess it is about 2 1/4 inch but you would need to measure it to be sure I have seen people just take the cat out punch out the inside material and put it back on.
@@lakesautomotivediagnostics6509 No I just purchased an aftermarket catalytic converter Eastern 41296. The side of the other end of the converter should be the same size as the pipe where I plan to cut and then put the exhauster connector, or my mechanic can weld it.
Is this a 2.0 ? I have to change mine and i have a 2015 kia soul ! 2.0. This is the only 2015 video i could fine. Do you have a picture of the catalytic converter if it is a 2.0 please and thank you.
I have a 2016 Kia soul having similar issue . Slow acceleration and won’t accelerate past 60mph up hill on load . Engine would work really hard to keep up with the speed and feel like it’s staying in the wrong gear . Can this be a clogged cat ?
Hi there , I have a 2017 T-GDI kia soul. Transmission skips 1,3, and 5 gears. When I first shift gear it starts at 2 then jumps to 4 and then it jumps to 6. Codes are P073F and P074D. Could the issue be the catalic converter? Thanks in advance
Man, I have the same problem last month; I got a missed fire and P-420 catalytic converter but my Kia soul is 2014; the mechanic told me the same, I have to change the CC; I was cleaning the compartment on my card and I forgot the I had some letters send from KIA; guest what one of those letters show my VIN number and because my Kia Soul is 1.6 engine; there is a problem with the censors and the catalytic from all Souls 1.6 from 2012 to 2016; also my Soul is burning too much oil; could be the catalytic convert plus the censors that need. If you have Kia Soul 1.6 from 2012-2016 make sure Kia check your car.
@EverthingZeeZee NO, my car is the 1.6 engine, and according to KIA, the engine light will comes up because some problems with the catalyst and some sensors that made my car burns oil, I went to KIA and they just make excuses

My currentl issues are under hard acceleration it rattles from the engine and doesn’t accelerate as it should kind of feels like it’s held back. No codes no check engine light I also notice it doesn’t blow any hot air when the heater is on it’s a 2015 kia soul 2.0
Sounds like a possible stopped up catalytic converter as far as no heat goes it can be many things first you need to make sure you are full on coolant if not, then you have a leak somewhere
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. It was very useful and informative
Thanks for watching
Nice vid mate, thought it was a bigger channel when i clicked on your vid from the main page of youtube haha. Keep it up
Thanks
@@lakesautomotivediagnostics6509mines does that what issue is that ?
Very nice diagnosis
Thanks🔧😃🔧
Thanks for this video because I bought this same car and was told $3k for the fix! It is NOT covered by my warranty 😭
Sorry to hear that
Would it be better to just get a straight pipe line?
I am testing this on my Kia Soul 2015 tomorrow....

Sometimes people can confuse a misfire with a slipping transmission. Does it feel more like a buck

You could do it either way, but my opinion welding it would be better and that way you would not have any exhaust leaks
Do you have the follow up video on replacing the catalytic converter?
Sorry, I do not believe so

Yes, it is a 2.0 and at one minute in the video I have my finger on the catalytic converter. Thanks for watching like and subscribe.

It definitely Can be, if you take off hard for my stop, do you have a little engine rattle?
I had the same exact issue and the diagnosis was the cat (by two different shops)

No, I do not believe this. Would have anything to do with a catalytic converter. Sounds more like internal transmission problem or electrical.
@@lakesautomotivediagnostics6509 Thanks, I got an auto shop to look into it, they took apart the transmission and yet they didn't find anything wrong.

Do you hear a little rattling noise from the engine area when you stomp it down and try to get going?
