There are two types of people in this world. One is those who love vegemite and the other don't know what they are doing. Cheers. Cyril for PM.
Rob... "This man should've been locked up "
Me... Cyril's a bloody legend 😂😂😂
Same
Yes, an old Aussie trick is to add a bit of Vegemite to a stew. you picked that. The other thing that made it Australian was that after WW2 when the POWs came home malnourished from Singapore etc - they used Vegemite as part of the process to bring them back to health.
Put it on chicken wings and the world is complete.
@@bradcarby3765 Put a smear on the chooks arse and you'll get a couple of fresh eggs to go with it mate.
The thing with Vegemite is that everyone dislikes it the first time they have it, the more you keep having it the more you’ll end up liking it. I have seen rellos from Italy over many times who end up wanting it on toast for breakfast each day after initially hating it. There is a bit of a craze happening of late of having it on pizza, which is not surprising as it goes perfectly with cheese (Vegemite & cheese sandwiches is a school yard staple) hence isnack 2.0 (Vegemite with cheese) which quite rightfully was renamed cheesybite
Actually cheesybite was recently changed to Vegemite with cheese
Yes, I admit it. I'm one of those who eat vegimite by the spoonful. Usually half a jar in one sitting. I also enjoy a bit of bread with my vegimite.
you're not the only one. There are times when I crave that umami flavour.
best way to eat it
When I was on meal replacement shakes to lose weight, I’d cheat by eating a spoonful of Vegemite 😂😂😂😂
I've always got a jar of Vegemite in the kitchen, I love it.
Toast...melted butter...just a scrape of Vegemite....YUM !
Yes.
I don't think it's actually made from the waste/leftovers of beer production, more that the extract is from the same yeast used by brewers.
I've often found that people that dislike vegemite (I love it), often also dislike other salty products like soy sauce.
Despite the salt content (there is/was a low-salt version), it's still one of the best sources of B vitamins (unlike marmite)
And Rob, you are correct, vegemite works great in stews, sauces, and it makes an awesome gravy.
Chocolate vegimite.
Makes my use of Promite on raisin toast seem good.
I'm an Australian and I'd prefer to have what "vegemite" is the let over product from. That's probably because when I was a little ticker (school age), I spread the stuff to thickly on my toast, thus turning me off it. It adds an umami flavour to some soups and stews, however used sparingly in my opinion.
Ok Rob. Please don’t call vegemite a “monstrosity”. You will send the whole country of Australia into meltdown.
And you can pretty much pour vegemite now because it comes in a squeeze bottle.
The squeeze bottle is shit. Back to normal jar for me.
@@shaundgb7367 I like the squeeze bottle.
They changed the recipe for the squeeze bottle doesn't taste right
@@shaundgb7367 yup..... I love my Vegemite but refuse to have it from a squeeze bottle!
The only pouring will be in the bin! Love a bit of drama! haha
I find that with vegimite if I have it on toast you even out the butter and vegimite. Also vegimite and cheese yum.
I was just biting into a Vegemite toast when I saw you posted this 😆
I wouldn’t even consider going overseas if I couldn’t take Vegemite with me or get it over there. Just.couldn’t.do.it.
Haha the timing!
Vegemite is great when it's spread on thick with 100s&1000s added. Also butter isn't a requirement. @6:00 that is the correct amount
There's another one in Australia called Promite, it's made of vegetable extract instead and is nowhere near as rich as Vegemite. I love them both but I love Promite way more than Vegemite. You might like it better too if you get a chance to try it 😊
2:22 from National Tiles
So Cyril Callister is the man to appreciate.
Legend!!!
I think they also missed doctors recommend to use on ulcers in the mouth as it heals, stops the pain (after the initial pain) and is cheep most likely already in your home.
Vegemite & cheese on hot buttered toast, love it. Vegemite on hot buttered toast, love it.
iSnack 2.0 is Vegemite and Cheese spread mixed together, They rebranded it, But i think I kept a jar of iSnack 2.0 unopened
You're trying to stir us up. Well it bloody worked. haha
Haha I'm glad I got you going! 😂
🔹️ Yes, way too salty. I agree. If having it in a grilled sandwich, you need to dilute it with melted cheese & butter. Remember, that just like Wasabi, ginger or soya bean sauce, you do not use too much. Just a smidgen, a very tiny amount, about half a teaspoon only on one slice of toast & always use heaps of butter OR olive oil spread to reduce the potency of the spread
interesting fact, there will be a pop up museum dedicated to Cyril and vegemite in Beaufort Victoria, later this year.
I don't think il bother visiting 😂
@@RobReacts1 lol, you’ll be to busy doing more exciting things while you here to worry about that
Just a bit of advice Rob, don't bag our Vegemite 🙃😜, you can shove the Marmite 🤪
haha both can go straight in the bin! Im not sure why charlie likes both either!
MONSTROSETY!!! I beg your pardon! That is the KING OF SPREDS! Marmite is disgusting. Australian babies start with vegemite on toast!
I’m Aussie and marmite is better than Vegemite.
@@leonbrown3270 You are an anomaly
The king of spreads is raspberry jam. Not Axle grease :D
We were ahead of the game back then, recycling brewery waste.
Fun fact, vegemite is the best hangover cure around. It's because of the salt, and B group vitamins.
Heston Blumenthal was one of the judges in a cooking show a few years back. The contestants were given dark, light, and white chocolate to make a dessert with. The mystery ingredient they had to use was vegemite. One of the desserts was so good, Heston was going to use it in his restaurant.
The Vegemite chocolate was very tasty. First, they didn't just put a big blob of Vegemite in the chocolate, it was a praline of Vegemite and much more subtle. Second, salt goes well with chocolate or anything sweet like caramel. In fact, there is salt in chocolate.
You can straight use it as stock, works great lol. Also cheese is an amazing pairing on toast or sandwich as the creaminess of the cheese really cuts down the salt but the salt gives the cheese a real kick
The Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate with Vegemite was strangely good... 😂
Vegemite is King. Marmite can get in the bin.
Dear Rob, I started eating Vegemite when I was three months old , It the best thing since sliced bread. I f*ING love it . If your e.yes aren't watering when you eat it you haven't put enough on you toast 😊
Haha that's passion!
@@RobReacts1 No that's Vegemite 😂
yep use it in your cooking its flavour is nice
I'm probably the only Aussie who does this, but I like cooking up Risoni (or any other small pasta (alphabet is good too)), and adding a big scoop of vegemite, a huge scoop of butter and a lot of cheese, and melt it all together. It looks revolting, but tastes amazing.
I'm going to try that! Cheers!
@@elizabethpilarski1076 i hope you enjoy it. It's great for a winter treat. 🙂
I came to Aus from London when I was 9 and developed a love of Vegemite. I was the only one in my family who did though, I was the youngest so maybe that had something to do with it.
Vegemite is good!!! Also Vegemite iSnack2.0 has been relabelled Vegemite Cheesybite after a poll was carried out to rename the product. Vegemite Blend 17 was a limited release version of the spread that was apparently “richer and sweeter” in flavour. I don't know anyone who spread their vegemite thinly; it needs to be spread thick or even better straight off the spoon. Vegemite chocolate is AMAZING!!!! It's like a salted caramel filled chocolate with a hint of vegemite (what more could anyone ask for??? Well except that Cadbury need to bring it back). You'll be surprised how well it goes with chocolate. In our house, we put it in our bolognese to give it more depth.
A lot of people eat Vegemite and cheese. Kraft decided to combine the Vegemite with their cheese spread in the jar and call it I snack 2.0. Unfortunately the ratio of cheese and Vegemite was something like 50 50 which made it completely inedible for snacking the way it was intended. A few people like the combination but most people found that there was too much Vegemite and not enough cheese. It went off the market as fast as it came on.
Actually it didn't it was actually renamed
The people in Australia who don't like vegemite are usually the ones who weren't born here mostly Americans or of Asian extraction the rest of us love it.
I love Vegemite and sometimes eat it be the spoon full as a snack
LOVE vegemite, used to be an after school treat to eat a spoonful off a spoon. just suck on it until it was all gone. still eat it off my finger to this day. :) DELICIOUS.
I moved from NZ to Australia and Vegimite was horrible. But like coffee, the more you have it the more you enjoy it. I love to have turkish bread, butter and a little vegemite, its amazing!
vegemite in mash is awesome
The first vegimite on toast is how I have it. The second one is for those learning to eat it. 😃
I enjoyed the vegemite with chocolate. Also had it in meat pie, yum!
Vegemite is great! I love it. 🤤🥰
HEY !!!!! not a monstrosity , ok , its just a very strange choice of foodstuff , but definitely not monstrous , and we love it ,it puts a rose in every cheek.
Also Marmite blows , Rob , it's like Vegemites poorer cousin .
We also have Marmite (the Aussie joke is Parwill) 😄
I love Vegemite. Vegemite and cheese sandwiche Vegemite and lettuce sandwich. And my mum does cook with it.
Marmite, Vegemite, Promite, each to their own. I myself prefer Promote which is easier to get in South Australia and is a vegetable extract (rather than a yeast by product) ;) if you wanna taste test in while you visit.
My mother used to use a teaspoon in hot water as a hot drink, similar to bonox.
You do realise that there's more salt in promite then Vegemite right
@@adambrock3932And I believe more sugar. But I gotta admit its my preferred poison.
@@perthon just checked as I have both yep you're right promite it's 18.1g per 100g and Vegemite has 2.4g per 100g
We don't talk about iSnack 2.0.
My toast definitely looks similar to the first toast they showed..
vegemite on toast dunkes in a hot cup of milky tea works. I have often fried eggs and dumped them on a toasted vegemite peice of bread for my American friends. They loved it. Never told them about the vegemite.
That dark toast is how I have it!
Great for covering up burnt toast !!! Replaces the salty taste too...
My partner puts it in bolognese sauce for spaghetti which works well too. I like Vegemite but not as a thick road base lol. Vegemite and Cadbury was awful but the Vegemite flavoured shapes were/are awesome so are they in Vegemite and cheese scrolls. The amount of of Vegemite I eat depends on how much salt I feel like having. I also love my hot chips drowned in salt too. If your worrying about the health I'm sorry you can eat as healthy as you like but your still going to die. And if that's the case I'll be doing it eating what I like not eating to stay healthy so I can pay taxes for more years.
Two teaspoons dissolved in boiling water - a very nice Vegemite tea.
I had Vegemite for breakky this morning, was delicious 😋
Back in the day people where eating much less processed food and could do with the extra salt in their diets, eat fewer "ready meals" and you will need something like Marmite, Vegimite or Promite in your diet.
I think you secretly love Vegemite but don’t want to admit it. And yes I’ve seen your taste test video 😂😂
I can tell you that's definitely not true! 😂
My now old Aunty had to go to the hospital when she was a child because she had to little salt in her diet , made her really sick , I was raised on a low salt diet but we were feed Vegemite from a young age , still love it 😍
Cyril, the man to thank
They missed alot of history, the advertising campaign was huge to get it more popular than marmite.
And yes goes well in soups and stews.
New Zealand has Promite which is different yet similar and not made from yeast.
Cup of tea, toast vegemite very lightly spread heaps of butter. Hangover brekky !
Honestly, no one uses a level teaspoon of Vegemite, which contains 178mg sodium and 99mg if you buy the low sodium Vegemite. That’s less sodium than a slice of cheddar cheese.
Lol Marmite looks like the stuff road workers use to plug potholes 😊
Vegemite goes well mixed with gravy
Nothing better than a piece of Vegemite toast for breakfast or a snack of a Vegemite sandwich 🥪
So tasty
Marmite is a food of the gods and should be an essential food group by itself!!!!
Vegemite however is only useful as the stuff they use to seal patches on the road.
Although we feel similar about Vegemite. Your still one of THOSE people who like marmite! 🤢 Haha
@@RobReacts1 and if you don't then you're wrong. Lol

I only have vegemite on toast few times a week, also like it on fresh white bread. For a special Sunday breakfast, a fried egg on the toast goes well. 😋👍🇦🇺
If you were born in Australia you might like Vegemite
We're happy little Vegemites as bright as bright can be. We all enjoy our Vegemite for breakfast, lunch and tea. It puts a rose in every cheek! czcams.com/video/YNiOZInvLog/video.html
Oh, Rob such sacrilege what are we going to do with you.hahaha I know why don't you try dipping your musk sticks in Vegemite? You might start a new taste sensation and Australia will forgive your slander
Is there anyway of faking that for video purposes? 😂
@@RobReacts1 Lol I guess you could always try dipping one in very dark chocolate that's been melted and is starting to thicken again LMFAO
Vegemite goes well with cheese, egg and avocado.
Edit,,,, Vegemite goes well with everything 🤣🤣🤣🤣
You don't have to get so aggitated anymore. Vegemite mow comes in a squeeze pack mixed with good old Bega Cheese.
Oh come on Rob. If you are viewing this you are just subconsciously in self denial. Shall I send you a 5kg catering tub for you when you come back from the dark side and see the light? LOL
Please please please do not! That's the one thing I do not want to be sent 😂
Cut toast into little soldiers with vege and dip into a soft boiled egg. Garboongah

Rob just to help u sleep at night, I get a spoon of Vegemite and have it that way. Just sitting on the tail gate of my ute licking my Vegemite laden spoon 😂😂😂

Promite and Vegemite is the best
I remember my dad holding his nose while making a Vegemite sandwich for my school lunch.
Just made me hungry.
Vegemite is a vegan source of b12 . , I work at a childcare centre you can tell 1st generation Australians, kids that don't like it as thier parents didn't give it to them but kids that love it have had thier parents give it to them or started daycare young 😉 even get kids lick it off thier cracker n get a Vegemite face lol
I think I will make a vegemite toast.
Bagging Vegemite from the country that eats black pudding is a bit rough.
The land of tripe and sheep's brains and bubble and squeak, and kidney / steak pies, lamb's fry, brothel sprouts AND RHUBARB.
I don't eat black pudding. I would say less people eat black pudding.
Putting a teaspoon of Vegemite into a stew just disappears and you can’t taste it. Most Aussies who hate it are children of migrant parents who never knew about it.
How could it be so bad for you. Salt 8.6% of approximately quarter teaspoon per serve
A) I've had marmite and it is rubbish, vegemite rules. B) Any Australian who doesn't like vegemite is just un-Australian and probably doesn't like lamb either. C) Vegemite is also good on a raw celery stick. D) 1 teaspoon of vegemite contains 5% of recommended daily sodium intake (if you're eating more than a teaspoon a day, you're a flamin' nong). E) Vegemite contains no fat, sugar, fibre or protein. F) 1 teaspoon of vegemite contains 25-50% of your daily (4 types) of vitamin B. G) If you drink beer (or in your case cider), don't knock the brewer's yeast, you are consuming yeast farts... :-)
The Australians I met that don't like it are newish Australians, they move here as an adult didn't get the upbringing of Vegemite sandwiches
It's ok Rob I'll eat your share LOL
Oh please do! :D
Marmite is foul but Vegemite is the best 😁
What a horrible thing to do to Cadbury’s Chocolate. I think they should actually try it as axle grease. Foul stuff.

I dunno..... I had to watch it twice, but am I picking up just a hint of a vague impression that you don't like Vegemite or Marmite? 😂
How did you guess 😂
Rob, if nothing else you do a fantastic job of reinforcing the stereotype of the whining pom.

Don't diss Vegemite. Thems fighting words
Vegemite is fine not quite Marmite but it's okay 👌
