i love the little "they killed my cow" joke at the end as that's literally what helios did in the book, he went straight to zeus and threatened to go to the underworld and turn off earth's sun if he didn't do something about odysseus and his crew, sulking just like the lil endcard joke

@Mejillustrates I think it's still helios. While jorge is willing to skip over parts (like odysseus's return to circe before his venture to the sirens/scylla) he wouldn't rewrite it. Plus in zeus' run-through the gods he didn't bring up posideon either, which is similar in the book as he tells athena how mad he is. So he probably left out helios too to try and keep it somewhat possible for odysseus return

But fr I love how at the end, when Eurylochus says "...Captain?", he appears to look actually confused, like he just broke out of whatever trance had compelled him to slaughter the cow, and is finally beginning to use reason to understand the magnitude of what he did.

(Odysseus decided to sacrifice six torch-bearers, even if he didn't specify who they would be) Eurylochus caused the deaths by recklessly opening the bag of wind, but didn't choose to kill anyone. Not really...? Poseidon killed those hundreds, he caused the storm that drowned the rest of the fleet, and he only went after them because Odysseus made the hugely dumb mistake to tell Polyphemus his true name, and then refused to apologise to Poseidon. Except the entirely justified killing of the cows, Eurylochus's actions rarely harmed the crew, compared to Ulysses monstrous actions time and time again.

      @MarcyStevonshy Před měsícem +6

Yes? Eurylochus wanted to escape with the men remaining on the beach in Puppeteer while they were still safe from Circe (who turned men into pigs easily, she was only stopped because Hermes gave Odysseus a magic root). Despite the danger, Ody told Eurylochus he'd do anything to save him and the others after all they've lost, fast forward now he's not just trying to abandon but SACRIFICING his own men that he swore to protect. Of course Eurylochus and the crew would fight back and mutiny

@@MarcyStevonshyI’d argue this became inevitable since Keep Your Friends Close. Why? There is no way no one else knew Eury was one who opened the bag. There had to be others manning the ship at the time and not only did they not stop him, no one told Odysseus who did it, making it clear they’re loyal to him first, making Puppeteer worse. Heck, I headcanon that the people with him during Puppeteer were the ones who knew the truth

Without the bag, there was no escaping Posiedon long. Posiedon would've come after them immediately. And given how he took out a good 500 something men in one go, leaving 43 alive--and that was an example of Toying around.
Yeah. Its not a nice choice, but if going through a monster's lair meant safety, even at the cost of 6? Its a horrible choice, but its a majority rules choice.
He argued that they should've faced her? ... In her own lair and element? She would've eaten all of them. Most of them would've probably drowned through lack of light and stepping off the ship by accident. The ship would've been destroyed and then that would've been it.
( And if you know your myths, then its either Scylla or Charybdis--and you wouldn't have the choice of a ship to Charybdis )
Eurylochus seems to keep thinking that they're still in the Trojan War. And while such a mindset is understandable, given that Troy lasted 10 years... You're not in Troy anymore. There is no facing the monster here. No mercy. No chance to avoid sacrifice. and Sure as Hell, no Raiding the enemy Camp. You ask your captain to work with you, and yet, you prove time and time again how you won't do the same.
... is it any wonder it ended as badly as it did, when Odysseus went "Fine. I'll look after myself then."
Besides, it was a false choice anyway. Even if Odysseus had sacrificed himself, the Boat would've still been destroyed, and the crew stranded until they killed and ate another cow--and that would've been the end of it.

Oh and lets not forget THE COWS BEING SO INNOCENT AND UNAFRIAD *LIKE AN INFANT WOULD BE* so you give Eurylochus his just a man moment a bigger build up.

OMG I LOVE THIS!! so I'll make a tiny list of the things I liked the most
Eurylochus' facial expressions when he was begging Odysseus to lie to him- it showed perfectly the despair, how much he needed for it to not be true.
Tiny Odysseus vs Huge Eurylochus (for some reason it made me laugh- everyone is taller than Ody)
Apollo's design is sublime. I. LOVE. IT.
The cows are so cute and fluffy
The crew stabbing Odysseus and immediately going to help Eurylochus up (they respond to Odysseus (like in full speed ahead) but they sing WITH Eurylochus)
The way Odysseus was using the rock to cut loose the rope, it was so on character, all while trying to convince Eurylochus
Eurylochus tired, with a bandaged eye, crying (more like that only tear that fell) broke me a little bit
    Apollo's design
How you depicted Odysseus freeing himself and immediately taking command to get away, and how the crew terrified and panicking obeyed without a single complaint- maybe they heard the desperation in Odysseus voice, or they were simply just used to following him, but even after mutiny they didn't question his orders, bc there WAS a reason he was the captain (and not only bc he was the king lol)
Apollo's pose, hair, with the lyra- love it
The way the statue's eyes lighted up and how it turned its head- yes, just yes, gives it that eerie unnatural vibe, showing how the gods have more power
The color shift, from all cloudy to the goldish-orange-yellow you can easily relate with a lightning storm, that was beautiful
Did I already mention how much I liked your Apollo design?
Also, this has a lot to do with Jorge's idea, but I love how Eurylochus and the crew never intended to kill Odysseus, yes they stabbed him but they also made sure he didn't die, they just needed to knock him down a few pegs- but Odysseus was willing to let them all die as long as he could get home
