Creating Trans-Cascadia // Hard Days

- It’s impossible to not be completely worked after a day at Trans-Cascadia. And that’s not just the racers; volunteers, officials, timers, chefs, media-everyone puts in an equal effort. The final week is the culmination of years worth of work, too. Each race is proceeded by work weekends, months of scouting and many conversations with land managers and local community members. For the individuals behind Trans-Cascadia, putting on an epic, blind, trans-style backcountry stage race is the reward. Opening miles of singletrack and giving back to the Cascadian mountain bike community is the reason-and that’s a lot easier when everyone contributes.

I love everything about this type of event. Don't confuse high priced with overpriced. A Porsche is a high-priced vehicle but not an overpriced vehicle. This is a Porsche level experience. Those who get it, see the value and you need not be wealthy to see the value.

When ONE RACE is more expensive than a lot of peoples bikes, isnt that little too much? I cant be the only one who thinks that.
yeah you're the only one who thinks that... This is a tailored, and guided race event over 4 days with a moving caravan of chefs, camp coordinators and equipment haulers (how do you expect your camping gear to get from point A to B). 2200 is nothing when you see what is happening behind the scenes to make this event more than just you riding trails. let's face it, people spend 2 grand in Casinos and walk away with nothing yet think the experience is worth it.
All in all your posts dont make you out to be a good person, they make you seem like an entitled brat who wants everything handed to then for free. I'm sure your a swell guy in person, but your online persona is a little rough around the edges.

Those motorbikes have absolutely no place out there. Beautiful scenery shattered by the engine noise, smoke and oil. Disappointing.
I believe they only use motos for trail work and scouting trails.
Horses on wet trails are much much more annoying
Says the guy looking at the beautiful scenery from his computer. These guys do not put this race on for a living, they can't spend weeks walking around mountains scouting and building trails. Using dirt bikes to access these areas makes this event possible so that people can actually enjoy the scenery in person and not just look at pictures of it.
Lewis, that's a call the Forest Service makes, not these guys. Anywhere dirt bikes are ridden during Trans-Cascadia is for scouting, trail work and safety precautions, on OHV legal trail. Many of the trails raced on are actually multi-use trails and the Gifford Pinchot National Forest has a longstanding history of cooperation between user groups. We wholeheartedly agree that there are places that should be left alone and undisturbed by motors and noise, however, Trans-Cascadia purposefully takes place in regions that permit OHV access for logistics.
Motos belong. Responsible motos are who clear downed trees for you. Motos are often who ‘make’ trail that benefit mtn bikes. Just wait til the ebike bros show up.

@@freehubmag user groups who leave 4 foot deep ruts in miles of trails in DD, GP trails that make it impossible for any other user groups to utilize? Sure some of those guys do some maintenance, and overall I have no problems with, but don't act like large swaths of them don't act like entitled jerks who would rather bikes, hikers, horses not be out there, and happily leave the trails in terrible condition to curb use.
$2200 to ride a mountain. WTF. sorry, not trying to be negative, but damn,, there are thousands of trails to ride all over the US FOR FREE.
What these guys put into creating trails and putting on an incredible experience is well worth the $2200. Not to mention that these trails remain open to the public after the event, essentially creating amazing new trails networks for us to ride. And yes, you can ride trails for "free" but remember that volunteers and advocacy groups put in massive amounts of time to dig and advocate so you can ride those trails...for free.
Nothing is free! Food aren't free. Building equipment aren't free. These guys' blood, sweat, and tears aren't free. You get to ride it for free after the event. At least have the decency to say thank you instead of finding something to bitch about.
@@joejuan5022 EVERY..........SINGLE........ONE of the tracks i ride where i live are 100% free. worked on by volunteer manual labor. i honestly wasnt trying to be ignorant, but damn man $2200. and that probably doesnt even cover your travel and accomadations. maybe do an event that doesnt cost so much for the average person.
@@freehubmag freehub, i get it. they do a lot of work. awesome. but where i live, so do people and EVERY SINGLE TRACK is free. AND we they hold races too. the event fee isnt even close to $2200. me being against that amount has nothign to do with how awesome they are. im sure thye are aawesome. but $2200 for a freaking race is just too damn expensive. its ridiculous. Just out of curiousity...........what do you get for the $2200?
Yes, you can ride trails all over the world for free, but you'll need food, accommodation etc.
The logistics of moving the whole camp from destination to destination, feeding all of the participants, having medical cover, mechanical cover etc.. that's what your $2200 dollars is going towards.
I spend around that figure on my annual holiday, so if I was going to do the Trans-Cascadia it would be my holiday for that year.
