The only thing missing from this video is a monochrome film grain effect with a thin layer of varying white noise and AM radio interference to really bring this video back to the 1940s.

Reminds me of my mother, getting dressed. in 1940's. She had what they called a "rat" that was used to rap the hair to make the bun in back. The whole process was a real production.

Thank You for keeping this era alive.
It was a long, and protracted endeavour for my dad (as was true of many of his time), he was not open, nor willingly talked about experiences during WWII, "just did my job".
God Bless You Dad and your Fellow Servicemen and Women.

I have been wishing that someone would bring back the positive element of that era, in terms of the music, attire, hair, make-up, and more. I personally, would like to see a return to the decorum that prevailed in that era, and before. I am referring in part, to chivalry, and the quaint, meaningful, yet simple, practices that we have lost. Men, for example, wore hats, and there existed, particular practices that were followed, in regard to hats. Men held doors open for women, stood up when a woman entered a room, they offered their seats to women, presented women with corsages when picking them up for a date, and more. With a booming thud, the feminists chucked all of those displays of respect, out the proverbial window. What we have instead, is neither, functional for men, nor for women. When women won the right to vote, feminism, such as it was, in the days of the Suffragettes, should have gone away. Instead, they linger about, to this day, like a bored kid, who doesn't know what to do, so he causes trouble everywhere, in order to gain attention, and feel alive. In my view, the feminists continue to reap more harm than good, for women and therefore, for society.
In the era that the D-Day Darlings represent, one could find, in the midst of great trauma, horror, and loss, a spirit that we lack, and sorely need, today, These beautiful, intelligent, women, the "D Day Darlings" embody, that spirit, so wonderfully. They are not only exceptional singers, but they represent the embodiment of an era that brought out the very best, and also, the very worst, in humanity. The D--Day Darlings, represent the very best of that era. Young people today, are in dire need of this sort of positive role modelling. In today's cultural role models, I too often, see selfish, ignorant, and largely uncaring, role models. They don't seem to mind, that they might be encouraging and fostering, the sort of behaviors, that lead young people to no end of trouble, pain, loss, and suffering. As long as they, the artists, are making vast amounts of material wealth, it seems to matter not to them, what the effects of their music and their actions, might be upon the young and vulnerable population, who supports them.
I hope that, amongst other things, the wonderfully talented, D-day Darlings, will inspire young people in ways that will encourage them to want to learn more, about the infamy and the glory of WWII. I think that they would benefit greatly, from such an investigation. There are also, many exceptional movies that were made in the 1930's and the 1940's, that provide insight into the lives of young and old, in that era. I highly recommend them. TCM is a great resource for the viewing of those movies. And of course, I would highly recommend the D-Day Darlings. They're wonderfully talented, beautiful, and original! Bravo!!
