    Yo, I have to speak up... This cat is your bro and we who watch regularly understand that. Also he is TIED to the COMPANY mentioned most likely because of the quality of the product, but he right out of the gate throws the name out there without giving people watching options. I like how YOU threw out the options for budget instead of going to what your tied to unlike bro and that's why I watch your channel so thank you for not fencing your subscribers in. What works for bro may not work for all... Right? Example: as for myself I went with what you said "budget" and got two OSD amps for 11 channels covered for $1400 total. The OSD five channels is 150 watts x 5 and OSD seven channel is 130 watts x 7 and they brought all my klipsch rp series speakers to a new level and the power they put out mentioned is honestly I would say awesome amount for any HOME theater hobbyist. I honestly believe they are quality amps as far as I'm concerned and I am 1000% happy.

  • @danielwander605
    @danielwander605 Před rokem +1

    I’m a big fan of these class D amps. Especially for home theater. I don’t see myself going back to solid state amps. The Buckeye amps are a bit plain looking for me so I went with Nord Acoustics. They also build and ship very quick which is nice. I understand Buckeye takes a bit to deliver, but they are priced a little lower. Anyway, class D amps for home theater is the direction everything is headed. If you look at the big boys like Storm, Trinnov, and ATI they are all using Class D. Even Mcintosh is selling Clads D models now.

    • @jordanrussell345
      @jordanrussell345 Před 11 měsíci

      I appreciate that Buckeye is "local" as in in the US, and actively encourages his amp owners to open up their amps if they need mods or repairs/changes. I email and deal with the owner directly. What's waiting 1-2 weeks from Buckeye for an amp I might have for decades? I don't know about Nord, but VTV(?) Writes "do not open" on their Hypex amps... Ok then, Buckeye it is.

    • @danielwander605
      @danielwander605 Před 11 měsíci

      @@jordanrussell345 I definitely didn’t consider that aspect completely. But Nord does offer DIY upgrades to some of their amps. I have a 2-channel amp where you can upgrade the buffer boards, op-amps, and can even swap out to newest hypex module. It’s definitely a real feature since so many companies purposely don’t do stuff like that to try and sell you on upgrading to their newest offering. You’re definitely right about it being a consideration.

    I recently ordered that NC252MP 4 channel amp from Buckeye to power my Revel F36x3 LCR and offload my Marantz SR8015 plus allow me to add front wides. Seems like a terrific value. Dylan at Buckeye does have about an 8 week lead time so that's the only downside. I was going to initially get an Emotiva BasX A3 or maybe an outlaw 5000x but this seems like a much better performing amp for not much more cost.

    I'm also interested in a 3 channel amp, but I've noticed some differences in other purifi amps compared to buckeye. For example, the Axiom ADA1500 uses a toroidal power supply. And the well known NAD M23 has some decent sized heat sinks on it's modules. Do any of these things make a difference in the performance? I guess what I'm really asking is, aside from a nicer build quality in the case, what am I getting for $3k+ compared to a similar amp from Buckeye for around $1600? Also what is the benefit of using monoblock for each of your LCR speakers vs just a 3 channel amp? Thanks in advance.

    • @musicman8270
      @musicman8270 Před rokem +2

      SMPS power supplies have been around for awhile, but using them for higher power applications is relatively new in audiophile circles.
      They use controls to direct power only when you need it. More efficient than the toroidal or iron core with massive capacitors type power supply.
      Cheaper to build too, mostly used in digital amps but more and more in class a/b.
      Depends on what you want. I like the more robust type of power that comes from a more traditional power supply, at least for two channel. Efficiency doesn't matter to me for that.
      But for HT surround channels it's fine, even tho my Basx surround amps have toroidal.
      Depends on your priorities basically. The sweet sound of an amp that is class A for the first ten watts is always going to be what I prefer.
      Didn't get into this hobby to save money, wrong hobby for that.

      Although true, you can technically buy outside of your normal segment price-wise by buying second handed.
      But it all boils done to how old this normally higher tier of equipment is in regards to how good of a deal you will end up with.
      You might not get as good of a deal as you think you are, so that is something to really think about before jumping the gun, as they say.

    1:07 "What I would look at is what I'm selling" Good amps last a long time, don't buy an amp from a guy building them out of his mom's basement. The Cherry amp guy people were into for a while and then he died and now there the company is gone. You don't need to go nuts and spend crazy money on amps, but at least get it from a company that has been around for a bit. Then when you sell it years down the road you can get something for it too.

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  Před rokem +1

      Every speaker has a sensitivity rating.
      So I have a speaker is 89dB sensitive, that means they fed it 1 watt, placed a microphone 1 m from the speaker in that provided 89dB in volume.
      It takes twice the amount of power to gain 3dB in volume.
      1 watt = 89dB
      2 watts = 92dB
      4 watts = 95dB
      8 watts = 98dB
      16 watts = 91dB
      Of course, we do not listen to our speakers at 1 m and the further you sit back the lower in volume the SPL will be at your listening position so you would need to provide even more power to reach Reference volume

    Hey everyone, I subscribed to your channel about three months ago and like what you'll have to share. This is the first time I've commented on anybody channel but I have a question about something. I'm new to the H.T. hobby but I want to know is.. I have a pair of Klipsch RP 8000f, RP 404c center channel,a pair RP 502 surrounds and 4 sa 500 Atmos. I also have the marantz 6015 and the emotiva basX 3 amp. My question is that if I was to upgrade my amp to the emotiva xpa 3 which is 275 wpc compared to the 140 wpc would I get more depth, richness and fullness out of my speakers. I know that I'll get more headroom but will it make a difference. Thanks

      Hi Randell, i’m glad you have enjoying the videos. Honestly I doubt you would hear a difference by adding a more powerful amp as your speakers are very efficient and do not require huge amount of power.

    The whole touting of wattage is overblown. Your speaker's only use up so much they're not going to use hundreds and hundreds of lots or a thousand Watts it would be so loud the speakers would blow and your ears would bleed.

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  Před rokem +4

      Every situation is different. My JTR speakers do not require massive amounts of power due to their extremely high sensitivity. A speaker with 82dB sensitivity would require MUCH more power.

      @ryanschipp8513 Před rokem +1

      @@Youthman yes every situation is different.....but it's not like a 82 db speaker takes 300 to 1000 watts to sound pleasing to our ears. So, hands down anyone touting 500...700...1000 watts.....it doesnt benefit anyone sonically. 200-300 watts is plenty to drive 90% of all speakers available to the public.

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  Před rokem +1

      Who’s touting 700 or 1,000 watts? Just keep in mind it takes twice the power to gain 3dB in volume and the further you sit from your speakers, the more power you will need.

      @@Youthman Maybe watch your own video again. Ryan himself said...some of the Buckeyes Purifi modules push 900 watts. Then the 704 model shows 750 into 2 ohms. Which Ryan references. 400 into 4 ohms. Youthman do you know how many watts it takes IN GENERAL to push a tower speaker to let's say 95db?

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  Před rokem

      Ryan had to go with more powerful QSQ for his alCR because they kept going into protection mode. That’s why he’s going with the higher wattage monoblocks for his setup.
      Again, each setup will have different needs.
