At last, Terry Nationâs wish of a standalone Dalek series has been fulfilled.

@Finn [Redacted] If we want to get even more technical about the technicalities of being technical, the two movies in the 60s gave the Daleks a lot more screen time which Iâm sure made Terry happy (I just wanted to keep the technical thing going tbh)

Interesting to see how not all daleks have the same level of intelligence.

Archivian: The Daleks have done incalculable damage to the visitor center!

Also, for however clever the Daleks are, I'm surprised that they never noticed that the Archivians are acting suspiciously casual to the news of the deaths of thousands of civilians. If the Daleks noticed this, they probably wouldn't have been in the situation that they are in in the very next episode.
Having the Daleks isolated from the Doctor and the confines of normal Doctor Who episode structure is just so refreshing. I love how they all have different personalities and morals!
@Samuel Black I think he means personalities
@Samuel Black what I meant by morals was how the executioner was eager to kill the archive guardians and everyone else on the planet but the strategist and emperor told him to wait. I think morals was the wrong word, sorry!
Much more like a return to the classics where the daleks (excluding drones) each have a distinct character and do disagree with each other sometimes.
Morals is absolutely the wrong word to use here, considering the Daleks have none. Steategies/approaches, however, is much more fitting.

3:10 Dalek Emperor: "You are defenceless"
"wE hAvE a VeRy lArGe dOoR"
I like the concepts explored by this little episode, regarding the Daleks in particular. They're often portrayed as mindless killing machines and lately have only been shown as merely instruments of death, which is one of their functions, but only a part of it. I like how they actually incorporated a Dalek Strategist to show the more cunning side of the hatred that the Daleks represent. It offers a more sophisticated and conniving side to hate, the actual tact and thought that sometimes goes into the calculations and machinations of evil that so often characterizes that sort of malevolence. It is too often forgotten that ruthlessness is not always unfettered destruction, it is also calculated, unfeeling moves made to both incur suffering and maintain the upper hand, which is what can maximize the effect of ruthless regimes like the Daleks, so I like that they incorporated the strategist. I also love the fact that the strategist was an older Dalek, implying that the species does undergo development and experience as it's members age, showing that the Daleks actually are beings, and also expressing the idea that the Dalek race does not exist in "stages" of transitioning from one model to another, and that they do experience "evolution" and have a mingling of generations, so to speak. I also like how there was a degree of personality to each Dalek in the episode, with the Strategist being more subtle and intelligent while the executioner was brash and paranoid. This reveals that there can be some distinctiveness to the Dalek personality and that their true evil can take a wider swath of the spectrum, which really opens up more possibilities for the sorts of altercations we can have with them in the future. Lastly I was a big fan of how the 3 main Daleks of the episode, The Emperor, The Executioner, and The Strategist, each had their own slightly distinctive and independent voices. The Emperor was authoritative and grand sounding, reflecting his eminence and power as Emperor, the Executioner was jumpy and had ferocity, displaying his role as the killer and destroyer (ie an Executioner), and the Strategist was covert and low-voiced, representing his position as the thinker and tactician of the group. Overall I got a lot of good signs about the development of the Daleks, my favorite aliens and possibly favorite part overall of Doctor Who.
Someone wrote an essay
The Daleks have been shown to have a bit of character, development, and personality before. For instance, remember the Dalek Asylum? Yeah, if they have an Asylum, that means that there are Daleks who are more insane than normal Daleks and that the Daleks have a concept of insanity that's more or less different than our own.
I love this new restoration empire. They actually gave the different command Daleks subtly different personalities unlike the paradigm, which were just Daleks with different colours.

This better be on DVD, in some shape or form!!! This is amazing!
This reminds me of the old TV Century 21 Dalek comic, right down to the Dalek Emperor having a larger head and the flying platforms. Really enjoying this so far, the strategist's rusted/beaten shell and twisted logic makes you think they've seen some things. Meanwhile you've go the executioner who is just trigger happy and ready to shoot anything, it's nice to see different dalek roles being played out like this, as though it's what we would have gotten if the the new dalek paradigm idea wasn't abandoned.
I found that more entertaining than series 11 of Doctor who.
