Found your channel a few weeks ago, and now I’m a new subscriber!! Really enjoy your focus on us average golfers. Keep the videos coming, and I’m sold on the G425s now!
Andy, what a GREAT video. This is the first time I have ever seen a reviewer give us this level of insight into comparisons between a comparable driving iron, hybrid, iron and wood. Makes me seriously question my bag make up going forward. Well done you average golfer saviour!
One of the best videos you’ve done so far. Great take on looking at a hole lineup of clubs, while tackling that upper end of the bag question. Oh, and the quality of footage is second to none... just brilliant
Excellent Video!! I always enjoy your content.
Really quite interesting as it backs up what I have found through trial and error. I'm a lot slower but in the g410 I play 7w, 5hy, 6hy and then 8i. That combination gives me good launch, peak height, descent and gapping.
these videos are excellent. the editing, camera angles, lighting ... high high quality. attention to detail is spot on
It's been fun to watch your channel grow. So many reviews are guys that swing 115 mph, so it's nice to see someone who swings at a speed that isn't terribly different than the majority of golfers. Good job.
Great review. I have a Ping G Driver, Ping G 4 h and a Ping G 5W (2016 models). I was thinking about upgrades, and now you've peaked my interest to head to my fitter to test out these clubs. Thanks, Andy!
Always enjoy your reviews! Greetings from Canada!!
I bought the PXG 7wood and absolutely love it. It carrys 210yards. An absolute phenomenal club and goes really high so bonus for stopping on greens in the summer. Then straight into 4iron after that 195.
I then have a 17° hybrid turned to 18 then 3 wood.
Follow a fair few golf channels, yours is by far the most informative/enjoyable for me 👍🏻 Keep em coming
Means a lot thxs
Andy the camera work in you new set up is something else , the close ups of the products are superb done like no other channel and better than some of the promo for the clubs . Follow that with your testing and data is a great watch , I definitely like and would play thev7 wood , keep safe and well
Very flattered thxs
Hi Andy
I have been watching your channel since the last lockdown it is great, with varied and valuable content. I play Ping G400 with the max driver 4 hybrid and 5 to U wedge irons. I bought a 7 wood during the first lockdown and love it. I can’t wait to play it during a full summer. Many thanks
Thanks for watching Keith
No hurling abuse here. Superb channel and getting better all the time. Great stuff.
Thanks for the great vdo, from Thailand. Just got my 7wood 425. Being custom shafted for Fujikura fw-40 Evolution Speeder VII with the longer shaft, to match my G400 3wood. The 7 is an absolute secret weapon like you suggested. The ball flight was super high off the deck and too easy to hit even! Thanks again.
I’d pick the hybrid. Love my hybrids. Single reason I’ve dropped to single digits over last 8-10 years. Cheers Andy! As always, a great video.
Fantastic review. Such an interesting way of looking at set up. Great work.
Great video Andy, I've long been a fan of 7 woods going back to my Howson Hippo in the 90`s currently playing Taylormade M6 7 and 9 woods
Glad I found this channel I am looking at a new set of the 425’s the 7 wood up is how I’m going to go , got yourself a new subscriber too
Great info as always, 👍 happy new year ANDY
Good video Andy. I’ve had my cobra 7 wood for 10 years. It’s my go to club. It gives so much confidence to my game (15 handicap). I would not go out on the course without it!
great review..i today was fitted for a PING G425 Max Driver / 5 wood / 7
wood....all i gotta say is WOW...soooooo forgiving and straight as an
arrow......i am 56 years old at 5'7 and was fitted into the ALTA CB
regular shafts minus 1/2 an inch on each club.... was hitting driver 250
carry roll out to 270 average...very happy with that...hitting the 5
wood 220 carry and roll out to 235....can't wait to get them....cheers
all from Canada...
Great Video! And can really sense your excitement about the Ping clubs and that 7 wood!! 😀😀
Thnaks
Great video very informative as I’ve never considered a 7 Wood in my bag will definitely try one when the golf shops reopen ⛳️👍🏼
Love exactly what you said about the 7 wood I bought the PXG. and it hits my distance at 200 with height and stopping
Love the light music that goes with your intros.
Great video, Andy! A year ago, I'd have said hybrid, but now I'm leaning 7 wd. Ironically, I bought a 7wd yesterday to possibly replace my 4 hybrid. We'll see. The Ping G425's look really good! I just upgraded my clubs (and bag) last year. Not sure how understanding my better half will be if I do it again this year. :)
Hell yes Andy !! Am in the market I hate my 3-4 irons on a cold windy day in Stoke lol 😂
Love your channel! Looking for a new set of irons and so far the new Ping and Apex irons are looking really good!
Thank you
Thanks Andy, great detail and honesty great presentation
Glad you enjoyed it
Really good stuff Andy. I wouldn’t have thought about a 7-wood option. Would be good to see the gaps between this and the other clubs - give us a gapping study vid
I just played a round using the Ping 425 Max driver. Wonderfully forgiving club. Never missed a fairway. I will try the irons once we get them in the shop.
Love your reviews!!!
Great vid Andy! I think the only thing that would stop me putting 7 wood back in the bag would be having to hit that into a head wind. With those launch and peak figures I think 192 carry would be optimistic as the descent angle after its stalled would be about 85-90 degrees🤔
Great video, love your channel!
Thanks so much!
Nice work Andy, appreciate the time you've taken to do this
No worries
7 Wood G400 in my bag but with a 3 wood shaft also have a 9 wood which I use instead of a hybrid .Both used at conwy AG comp. and the 7 wood is the back 9 saviour there !
Thank you for the fantastic video. Currently i'm a 13.2 index. I just upgraded from my set of Ping G20 woods and irons. This past fall I was fitted for a set of Ping G425s ( D, 3w, 5w, 5i-pw, gw, sw, lw. I'm still learning how to hit them, but I absolutely love them. I seem to be missing one club between 5w and 5i. I think based on your video , the 7W would fit nicely.
Great video - food for thought. Dustin Johnson had a 7 wood in his bag for his masters win. If it’s good enough for him....
Its very true!
Great content...I put a 5 wood and 7 wood in the bag last to help with launch which in turns gives the carry. Cheers And
Thanks for this. I was already going to test the 3 wood but I carry a Ping 2 iron and two hybrids at present so this could be an interesting option to add to my test. The 2 iron is a great option for punching low out of trees though!!
Worth a try and this might keep you out the trees!
Love the video, I still have and use my old Ping eye 2 wooden 7 wood, it is good out of fairway bunkers as well.
I will have to try that
Great video Andy, very interesting, good food for thought 👍
Great review! Been thinking of swapping out my 4 hybrid for a 7 wood because of the occasional hook, and these Pings are looking good! Cheers.
Worth a go
Love a good Technical Drawing! I go 4 Hybrid - provides a confident look over the ball - and (guessing) a shorter shaft length for better control. Great Vid as usual!
Very logical Chad
My old original RBZ 7W is the secret club in my bag. Interesting vid, I may check this one out.
Agree, I have same set configuration, 6 iron then 7 wood, tried hybrids but went back to 7wood with 22.5 loft
Thanks for sharing
Great video again 👏, is there any any chance of comparing callaway Big Bertha b21 5 wood vs the ping 425 fairway wood in 5 i play the callaway but have a tendency to pull it left on the odd occasion off the floor but love the look of the ping as it looks like it has a shallow face aswell 👍
Might have to try this club out , my 7 wood is used for this exact reason . Pings whole new range is very impressive from all the reviews I’ve seen and looks great
Absolutely
I have played 7 wood for years, my favorite club in my bag. Total confidence with it.
“Oh my word” 🤣 gets me every time. Great videos as always 👍🏻
Hallelujah, someone who tries the 7 wood. I’ve been looking online at the current fairway line up, contemplating this club to replace my g30 7 wood. Glad to see you trying it out and raving about it Andy. I’m sold
Glad to help
Cheers Andy, another great and informative video mate, your alright for a scouser 🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍⛳⛳
We were lucky enough to get the 425 range late last year here in NZ and I have had the whole set since November, I got the 7w and it is def my go to club👍🏽
Spot on Andy. I put a heaven wood (as you know that’s a 7 wood head with a 3 wood length shaft) in my bag and love it. Sometimes off the tee if drivers not working that day and all par 5s or long par 4s. May look into a standard 7 wood as well.
Worth a try
Subscribed - what an awesome video 👍🏻. This is the video I have been wanting to see for a long time. I am going to get fitted for a 7 Wood, thinking either the Sim 2 Max or G425.
First vid I have seen for the average golfer where all options have been considered and a nice look at the data. Didn't catch your name but I am now going to be looking out for your vids. Thank you 👍🏻
Thanks for kind feedback, Im Andy
@@TheAverageGolfer Cheers Andy 🍺
Interesting video, thanks. Looking at that descent angle think I might give that 7 wood a shout instead of the crossover
Wirth trying
Interesting. Only concern I have with having a fairway wood in place of a hybrid are those nasty awkward lies out of the rough etc where I have found it is easier to get launch and contact with the slightly smaller mass of a hybrid. Great video and I will definitely have to consider a 7w as a potential.
Will use a 7w for the first time this year. Bought a mavrik max this winter in used, but excellent condition. Looking forward to march when courses open again. Right now it is snow and -10 ☃️
Thats a bit cold for golf!
I'm 42 years old can hit long at times. I'm wildly Inconsistent. . my bag is set up for help! Driver, 3 wood, 5 wood, 7 wood, 5 iron 6 7 8 9 PW 50 deg 54 deg 58 and putter!!! .. can't hit a hybrid anyway but snap hook haha so the woods have been a game saver for me. Thanks for all the great info and another great video!
Gotta love it !!! Well Andy great minds think a lot alike. I love the Ping G425 7 Wood. This G 425 series of clubs really hits the spot!!! Great video review. Really enjoyed watching this . Now if I would only go out and play 9 holes with you this morning? :) Joe
Well analyzed review top man
Use to love my 7 wood , haven’t carried one for years 👍🏌️♀️⛳️ great video mate
Maybe make a comeback!
Another good job,great review
Thanks again!
Keep it rocking Andy , nice intro !
Thanks, will do!
Great video as usual Andy already carry a 7 wood love it my go to club
Seems I am missing out!
Great video Andy and endorsement of the new Ping range. Especially you the 7 wood and the crossover for those tight tee shots. Looking to order and was interested in what shafts and flexes you had success with in the video. So many options that Ping offer would appreciate a comment or two. Thanks
Been playing a ping 7 wood for years. I'm a scratch golfer and swing driver about 122mph. Most would say it isn't a good fit for me but its my favorite club in the bag. Can hit crazy high, straight, soft approach shots into long par 5's and off the tee its laser straight and super forgiving.
Good enough for DJ!
Love the sound of the wood 4:04 on the fairway I think everybody could do with a forgiving wood with a high trajectory.
It's funny that you did this video now because just yesterday as i finished my round I was just thinking about replacing my hybrid with a 7 wood, it would fill the gap between my 5 wood and my 5 iron perfectly and give me a little bit more forgiveness and a little higher ball flight than my hybrid. Will definitely check out the Ping 425 along with some other brands but I think you're definitely right about this being a club that should be in the bag.
It opened my eyes
Been a user of a 7 wood for a while.. I’ve got a Callaway Epic Heavenwood, and is the most reliable tool in the box. Another great vid.
Nice to get feedback Stephen
@@TheAverageGolfer you like the 710 irons or 425 irons?
great option to have in your bag, will consider this the next time I fall out with my 5 iron.
Yes try it
Andy , 7 wood best club in the bag, you comments are right on the noise , brought the ping g410 this year to play the 3 long par 3's ( 180 to 190 ) at my course , could never hit the greens with irons or hybrids always try to hit the ball too hard and end up balls in it up !!! the 7 wood , great for stopping on the greens my playing partners are at times gob smacked were it finishes at times , and love it in team matches !!!!! any one think its a old mans club think again it's a game changer , as you say, i dropped both 4 and 5 hybrid for this no need for them
Another great video Andy...defo be giving a 7 wood a try....keep up the great content pal
Thanks 👍
Great review. Curious as to what shaft you were using and if it was std length?
Very interesting. I bought the PXG 0211 irons during the summer and have a Ping G400 4 hybrid. I haven't been able to test distances on Trackman but the 5 iron definitely goes the same distance as my 4 hybrid going by the par 3s at my course. Over lockdown I just got a TS2 7 wood to try out - haven't had a chance to hit it yet. So it will be interesting to see how it performs. Kinda wish I'd waited for the G425 now....
I am sure the TS2 is fine
About time I commented on your content. Never have b4 but I am now. You are beginning to be my no 1 over Rick Sheils. So much better. Thanks
Wow, thanks!
Loving the music Andy
Cheers Rich
Very good video, I have ping G400 5 wood, will consider 7 wood, less hooky than hybrid !
Could be
A 7 wood with a slightly shorter shaft seems like a wonderful option
Andy another brilliant review mate.I have P790s 6-PW I have a Taylor made GPR 5 I don’t really like the feel of the shaft it’s a bit hard.I can hit this roughly 185 the same as my 6 iron so I love the look of the ping 7 wood so might give it a go.👍⛳️🏌🏿♂️👏👏
Worth trying and thxs
Hi Andy love your reviews, its likely to cost me a fortune when we’re back out there though
Can't give any abuse, except you didn't mention the turbulators are gone! Finally I can consider Ping hybrid and fairway woods. If only they would lose them on the drivers as well. Love you style and postings are very relatable for the "old and slow".
This was very interesting and with good insight to golf strategy. Planting the ball on the green, getting your distance is a nice control to have. Can you do comparisons of the Ping 425 Max to the comparable new Titleist, Callaway, T. Made, and Mizuno. I plan to buy a new driver and would love to hear your comparables on them. I plan to go into fitting in the next month.
Head to heads soon
Suggest you hit a Cleveland Launcher Halo 4 hybrid to compare to the Ping 7 wood in this video. The Halo can be hit high or extremely low and it does hold greens. Not sure of the height but it hits higher than a 5 wood.
I have a Callaway Super Hybrid in my bag for this reason, very same kinda club!
Great review as always man you are alike a step ahead of me its perfect. Also considering 7W or 5W as I have 3&4 hybrid. I like. How did you like the standard shaft? Thinking I will go with Ping tour Reg flex as I have that in my 410 Driver. Have a 93 SS in driver.
I am a fan of the CB Alta shaft range, they suit me
Great video Andy as always love the technical drawing, I carry the G410 driver 5 wood and 4 hybrid never owned a 7 wood if its good enough for you and DJ I might join the club🤣👍
Haha yes he is also a big fan isnt he
@@TheAverageGolfer he probably hits his about 270 though😳🤣👍
Mark Derby minor details 😂
I myself can’t hit a fairway wood to save my life.. I ordered g425 (5-W) irons in November and am waiting patiently for them to arrive.. Bagged the g425 max driver this season and love it … I hit my 6 iron currently 200 yards ( Taylormade M4 irons) not sure if the 425 will perform equally… I will need to fill a gap between my 5i and driver, not sure which way to go.. I guess I’ll find out next season… great videos!
I’ve never owned a 7 wood , but now you got me thinking 🤔 cheers Andy
7 wood been on my radar for a while...deff a club I’m trying in 2021
Very surprised by it
I clicked on like, but I couldn't think of any abuse to hurl at you. :) Thanks for your videos!
I will take the like!
I could listen to you talk about anything golf related! Just like I could listen to Morgan Freeman narrate just about anything!! Great video! Can’t wait to be able to by a ball cap 🧢
Best golf channel on youtube
Great start to my night!
Recently bought a 7 wood it’s been a game changer for me👍
I can believe that
Must be the first time I've provided 3 comments. But your advice seems to be spot on for me. I don't have your distances - I suppose I'm a below average golfer - but it all mùakes such good sense. Cheers. I wish I could offer you a beer or 7.
Love to hear this feedback Ian thxs
I have had a Ping G30 7 wood in bag for about 6 years ?, always my go to club, best thing i ever did , fancy a G425 though :-)
How about all the shaft options ping offers? My son just got the 80 grams rogue in stiff. Hitting about 240 yards maybe 250 yards. Also fitter said use midsize or jumbo grip. Your thoughts on this?? Thank you!!!!
Don't forget the adjustability advantage with woods versus the iron and crossover to tailor yardages. I love my 9, 7 and 5 Ping fairways. (I have always believed you cant go wrong buying a Ping).
Pride will stop many taking a 7 FW.
Love your vids as your a golfer closer to my talents (albeit better). A little bored of watching the CZcams ex-Pros hitting clubs at near tour speeds with no relevance to us Average and less than average golfers. 😎
Thats a really good point Gareth
excellent video, can I ask when your merchandise is coming out loving the caps and know someone who would like it as a pressie
Will be in next 10 days Tommy
@@TheAverageGolfer excellent news
