A pleasure to look at that find. Stunning!!! Huge congrats...the story that could tell. I agree...could be a lot of money in that field...definitely “requires” your investment of time “asap”. I would even go out and get a large coil for that ATPro...at least a 15”.
Fantastic find, loved it when you first showed it in the field with all those little ball swirls showing through the damp soil, best to take a week off work and get back out there, you could find more pieces - Very well done - Thanks for showing

What do you think about screen sifting the earth around that find? Perhaps it has been moved by the plow far from original situ, but oh man, what if there were a couple cabochons waiting for you?

Stunning find!! many congrats..I do a bit of gold detecting in Victoria,Australia and find gold nuggets from time to time,but to unearth a piece of history like that Saxon artefact would be incredible..you must be over the moon..well done mate!

Blimey! What a find! Looks very much like a brooch and the circular cells, now empty, were very likely to have had garnets mounted in them. Love the filigree decoration. Beau bit of Saxon treasure! I would go search the area again very thoroughly!! Thanks for sharing.

I went out to the field again today and found half a Saxon Sceat Circa 675-680 ;)
Well done! I'm looking at that coin now in the good book. Thrymsa Moneyers? I found a whole but later one Continental Issue c695-740 last year which I featured in my Christmas Top Ten Finds video. A truly stunning find, very well done, I hope one day to find something as stunning as this but my permissions only hold Roman grots and broken bits of broach, don't get me wrong, I love what I find but that piece of Saxon gold would be a dream find for me, well saved, another few turns of the plough and it may have been smashed to pieces.
Hopefully this story will give you hope.. The field I found it on I used to call the "Dead field" I never found anything on it older than a George II half penny and some rose farthings. No silver hammered coins or any thing for weeks then 1 day I found a very poor Roman coin and part of a small fibular. Next time I went back I found a few Roman coins and Roman hair pins then a few weeks after that came the Saxon Gold followed by a Saxon sceate. It's a very hard going field but I can't call it dead anymore. The thing is out of the 4 big fields around it I always thought it was the worst one but time proved me wrong.. Thanks for watching

Which direction is the field ploughed? I would think if you searched back from there there could be other bits around. Also a deep seeking metal detector like the GPX 7000 could potentially uncover a hoard. Just maybe 👍

I hear the NEL coil gives the AT about 130% increase in depth. I am using the same detector as yourself.

The artifact could be bent with some heating but it will be left alone in the condition it's in I would imagine.

I want to go to the UK some day and connect with a metal detecting club...and experience a bit of history with my detector.
And besides, they know the country's law regarding the law.

Do you mark your spot that you left off so when you go back you don't go over the same spot twice.
I go over it all many times on different settings too. The field has been detected for ten years so it just shows you can miss signals every time you go out

I wouldn't know as I don't have the Max but I dont think it's any different in depth from what ive heard so apart from the wireless side and the backlight display not much change
