I love this yarn SO much, Rebecca! It ended up looking almost bronzed, which is honestly just beautiful. Honored to be today's lab partner! Thanks for taking on this challenge LOL
Adi, I'm SO GLAD you like the yarn! I wasn't sure if it quite fit the vision we discussed, but it turned out so pretty and I love the glaze on the orange. I should do more orange things in general!
Thank you for making me smile.
I'm so glad!
I don’t plan on dying yarn but I’ve been watching like 8 of your videos a day 😂 your personality is amazing ❤.
Thank you so much, ChiChi! I'm so glad you're enjoying my videos.
I absolutely live these colours. I've dyed my hand spun yarns with food colouring, but now I want to try acid dyes thank you so much for this video.
You're so welcome!
I’m inspired by this tutorial to try and use this technique in a fade set. Thanks so much!
This would be stunning!
I love how the glazing deepened the orange and took it to a warm, cozy, autumn colorway.
It feels so warm and cozy
I can't imagine how it could have been nicer! It's lovely.
Thank you!
I love your videos, iv started dying my own yarn to use for my knitting 😊
YAY! I'm so glad you're dyeing your own yarn and that my videos are helpful.
Stunning! I think this might be my favourite if your dye projects ever!
Oh thank you!
Very pretty. That dark auburn at the end is gorgeous!
Thank you! 😊
I have come to appreciate Orange so much! This is lovely!
Thank you so much! Me, too
these are always so cool. thank you for your endless ideas and inspiration
Thanks so much! 😊
I have a video request: how about a “strike off” video, where you take different dyes you might want to use for glazing or speckling and compare the strike speed? Like a race. You could do 0.1g dye in different jars, heating in a bain marie in your big caterer pan on stove. Add 10g yarn to each and start the race.
It could be pretty fun to film, and both glazing and speckling benefit from fast strikers.
This is an interesting idea but might be logistically hard to film or get conclusive results - especially when there are so many different dye colors. One big culperate here is that some dyes are blends of different pigments and may have some that strike fast (and therefore would work great for a glazed effect) but then also have other pigments that bind slower. If we're just looking for water to clear this might not tell me what we need to know.
I do have a new glazing video coming up with a color I hadn't tried before in the next few weeks :D
@@ChemKnitsTutorials looking forward to seeing that. Aren’t we all envious of that Malabrigo magic glazed effect?
Beautiful!
Thank you!
Beautiful yarn, just beautiful!!💚💚
Thank you!

Thank you!
Amazing results there! Very nice work!
Thank you so much 😀
I like the dark end best, definitely my type of color. 😊
It is soooo warm!
Love, love, LOVE this technique and my yarn is as beautiful as yours!
Thank you!!!
Absolutely gorgeous!
Thank you! 😊
That turned out beautifully! Quick question ... I know you use vinegar a lot, but how much citric acid do you suggest instead of vinegar (per 100g skein, for example)? I've been adding around 2 tbsp but wasn't sure if that is a good amount.
2 Tbsp of citric acid is WAY more than you need. I think CA powder is 12x stronger than vinegar. (Citric acid is a stronger acid, but also the vinegar acetic acid is already diluted in water.) I don't have a good ratio or recipe for it, unfortunately. I came to my vinegar proportions based on trial and error.
@@ChemKnitsTutorials Thanks! I hope I didn't damage the yarn by using too much. I'll do some more research :)
Hello Rebecca, I started zu glaze my yarn and I have a question to step 2. You put the yarn into a cool water and warm up it slowly? Is it right? 🙈 Thank you very much for inspiration! ❤
Yes - Lately I like to start with a cold dyebath with high acid and then heat it up. (Slowly is relative - it tends to take a while even with the heat on high.) One big key is to have a high water:yarn ratio so the yarn can really spread out.
Have you done glazing with fiber reactive dye and cotton?
I haven't tried this. I don't have as good of a feel for fiber reactive dyes and ones that may strike quickly.
I’ve been first to comment 3x this week. I’m on your wavelength 😂
Woohoo! Thank you so much!
Do you knit in addition to dyeing?
I do! Not as much as I used to back in the day but I do share some knitting vlogs here occasionally
Ok wow, this turned out stunning! I am shocked!
Thank you so much!
can you link the spin dryer you use?
I use a nina soft spin dryer from laundry alternative and the exact model has been discontinued. (amzn.to/40dycv0 affiliate link) This is the main reason why I don't mention the brand or anything very much because the brand has other models but I haven't tested them out personally. Other dyers like panda brand I think?
