I bought a set of 5 glass files off of Amazon for 10 bucks. No need to overpay for a raster or dspaie imo. The set I got not only sands but buffs as well so when I sand it leaves the surface smooth and shiny. I bought the files for gunpla of course but that shits amazing on my nails (which is what they were made for). Guys don’t overspend for glass files they are dirt cheap at your local beauty salon or Amazon.

Personally I combine a 2$ glass file with a nail buffing block that has 7 stages, using only 5 to 7 after filling down, it works very well and the buffing block last close to 8 month for 3$

I've done this. Cheap glass files, sandpaper, sanding sticks, metal files, hobby knives and new blades every 4 HGs..... I got the Raser and 1 nail buff pad. That's all I've used since. It IS worth $30. Saves time and in the long run money. This isn't an ordinary glass file.

Based on how by described the grooves on the RASER, it might be a crosscut file which requires a slightly different technique to achieve the same results. I jumped on the glass file bandwagon too and they earned a place in my toolbox. Great video, just subscribed!

I bought a set of glass fingernail files, all the same grit but small, medium, and large size. I use them when filing the tabs off of Photo Etch; they work extremely well for this. I also use them to for finish sanding on plastic attachments points and in areas of excess plastic. Once again, the glass files work extremely well. I only paid $6.95 on Amazon for this set. I don't see the benefit of paying more ($20-40) for a name brand. I've had these files for 2 years now and clean then with water and a toothbrush if needed. Most of the time, a toothbrush works just fine to remove the dust buildup. Thanks for the video! Great info! Eric

Its great to see an honest opinion on these as I've been weighing this up for a while. I currently use a cheap ass glass file from Amazon to final clean down those nubs and it does the job fine. Seeing this comparison with the razer and the dspiae is actually really helpful to get a good comparison on such a popular well advertised product. Thanks for the vid. Will probably keep an eye on the dispae as it seems better than the razer.

So I generally build my HG kits at work, not at home work but at work. So I have a nice travel kit of tools and Raser has been my nub remover tool of choice. I agree the size is a bit small but I also wish it had a smaller brother for those random nubs in a small area. Then the buffer sticks that came with the Raser are just as awesome for a clean finish. I just got the SF-15, which his video reviewed and the MSF-13, which looks like same etching and "size" as of a Raser. I have yet to use/review these myself. Since I just received them and I have HG Hazel Custom that I will be testing these two DSPIAE glass files on. I have a little play in throwing money onto my hobby. But cost/function, I believe I will be funding DSPIAE over Gunprimer. I love Gunprimer products as well but they come a "premium" price. But USAGundam/DSPIAE have seen plenty of my money at the moment, since I have just about 90% of the DSPIAE products at this time. But I just subbed to your channel. I enjoyed the presentation and the feeling that was coming from you. I hope to see more of your channel bounce into my feed.

    @obicross Před 3 lety +6

i was pleasantly surprised with my raser+, it works really well, and i've had some glass file before including dspiae one (the usual price reasoning, decided to bite the bullet). part of the reason is because the new one has around 220 grit force, but doesnt really scratch the surrounding area. and it does work, test it on a beam saber runner that is clear and curved (like a tube) so its difficult, and the gate just gone. now, the con is of course that price (kinda scammy lol), and the sticker of course. but the main product works, i think even better than ever due to that really course grit. and i can do wet sanding an it'll last. the other glass files, i'd say it doesnt really worked for me. the grit is too fine. on the dspiae its even reaching 10000 grit. i tried it, and was quickly disappointed. the nano glass file kinda works, but like i said its too fine of a grit, and more often than not, it damages the surrounding area alot and make it glossy and what not, it really is kinda frustrating. i was going to buy the newest dspiae one but thats even more expensive than gunprimer, so i didn't, and the grit again is like 10000+. if i need some polishing, i'll just get a polishing sponge/block. so yeah, it does work surprisingly well, but the price just makes it a luxury or gimmicky item, whatever you wanna call it. its like god hand all over again. but its god sand in this case lol

You should rebrand these kinds of reviews as something like 'Is it worth it?'.
For the Raser one, instead of a sticker, they should just engrave their branding on the top portion and electro-plate a black color on that top part.
Fun-Tak...I haven't actually used it since like my grade school days.
Good to know it works well with cleaning up files.
I think these are not intended to be used to "bust down nubs". These are more like polishing sticks.
    $25 ~ $30 isn't that bad for the Raser.

    Honestly, I agree with you.
The price gouging on these rebranded glass nail files is ridiculous.
16:19 Yea. The audio quality drops noticeably. I also noticed a few times there was like a crackling sound in the audio like at 17:40 and 19:24. I'm on headphones so I hear these things. Definitely those pesky audio gremlins are at it again. 🤣
Do you know if these glass files are straight up glass or a polymer? Does it have maybe something like ceramic in the glass?
There's a reason why things sold & shipped by Amazon are cheaper in price. They bulk purchase these things in mass quantity so these companies give Amazon a big discount.
One reason why I don't shop on Amazon is because I don't like how they don't pay their fair share in taxes which is ridiculous considering how much they make in gross sales and profits.
On top of that, Amazon increases the price of Prime by a lot every year.
