  • Another basic beaver trapping set scenario for ya, It is very simple and very easy. Just place a castor mound and guard it with a 330 conibear. Remember friends keep it simple and you can produce great numbers of beaver in your sets. Please check out my pages below and subscribe!!!!

    "Crick" vs. "creek"... Funny. In NW IL, we always said, "down at the crick", but'd say, "Elkhorn Creek".

    It's funny how farmers and land owners typically are not a fan of beaver, and here I am wishing we had more around my area too trap. lol

    That's my go to set as well, by setting away from the house really helps cut down on catching little ones but I still get a few especially after the parents are caught

    The difference between crick and creek is as follows. Creeks are clean cricks are creeks with junk and car parts in them haha

    Do you leave your trigger (Wires) straight when using conibears?

    If the creek running between the two ponds was narrow enough in parts, would you ever put the trap right in the middle of the creek? (might be a stupid question, I have zero experience trapping and want to start getting into it)

    • @330Maniac
      @330Maniac  Před 6 lety +1

      Dalton Foley I would if otter season was open because you run i high risk of getting one in a set like that.

    I experienced something this weekend out trapping beaver in a new spot and cough 3 large beaver 2 in snares and one in a 330 the next day I cough about a 60 pound beaver in a snare and not sure what happened but both the 330s were fired but no catch and they were in runs on a lodge I think that large beaver was smart and saw the 330s and was out smarted by the snare. what are your thoughts.

      Jerad Lene That definitely could have happend. I've seen some very trap shy Beaver that won't go near a 330

    I have access on a property that is bordered by the pecatonica river (SW WI) on three sides. I'm just starting to trap, and I don't want to dump a bunch of money into (another) hobby -- I have a mentor that was kind enough to loan me some 330 conibears. The issue is that a large portion of property I can trap on has very steep banks, and I'm not sure if I can make a 330 Castor Mound set... The water can be pretty deep; there are a couple of areas that are very accessible... any recommendations?

    • @330Maniac
      @330Maniac  Před 3 lety

      Usually in those cases I will take a shovel and dig a small cut into the shoreline at water level and make a castor mound set

      I kill them because they destroy access to my hunting grounds. I have grown to hate beavers.
