  • Hi Guys,
    Welcome back for another ride out with my buddy, on the Ducati Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak. This time, we’re going to find out; after 3 months of owning this bike, whether he's still happy. Has he made the right decision, about chopping his Multistrada v4s in for it? Let’s find out how he got on.
    So sit back, relax and enjoy the ride.

    Love my PP , a keeper for sure ❤

    I looked and tried both the V4S and PP but went with the V4S. The ride on the V4S is much nicer on our terrible roads and as i carry a pillion a lot it seemed a better fit. Decided to spend the money i saved on a full exhaust system and some decent brake pads!

      I totally agree with that. It’s not like the PP has much more to deliver other than a harder ride and turns in sharper. I’m sticking with the v4s it’s suits my needs for now. I’ve just bought some new pads so il see how they go. 👍

    I think its really difficult to split the two, I have the V4s Full with extras. Great on UK roads 3 track days in I still love her. Pikes Peak is a tool for the track though.

      That’s right Alan, 2 bikes so similar but so different. It’s nice they bought out a PP bike just to have the choice. The multistrada v4s is a bit more universal for my type of riding so il be sticking with it for a good while yet.

    Looked at changing today to pikes peak as it’s just a more classic Ducati look with some refinements but have you found any way of protecting all the low down kit behind the front wheel which will get battered with road crud with that short mudguard?
    How easy is it to adjust suspension for touring lid and or pillion ?
    Thanks for the review

    • @thatbikersimon
      @thatbikersimon  Před rokem +1

      I’ve not really had any issues so far but I’ve not put as much mileage on as I would of like to so I’ve not looked into the mud guard issue you mentioned. Il take a look on my next ride out. The suspension is easy to adjust on the fly with a pillion. I’ve found it very affective. 👍

    Thanks for your reviews. What would you/folks think about putting think Continental TKC 70 tires on it. Where I would want to ride has some fire roads, so definitely 80/20 (maybe 90/10 - ha) but like the Pikes Peak over an V4S …. Maybe oem tires can handle that 90/10 fire road riding 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

    • @thatbikersimon
      @thatbikersimon  Před rokem +1

      The continental TKC 70 is a tyre I’ve thought about and I’m sure it will handle hard fast road riding but I guess it’s depends on what i roads Il be riding most. I know Andrew on the pikes peak likes the stock tyres and I think their suited to the bike be he will on ride road in good weather. The trail 2s have worked well for me so far so it would be a tough decision to change. So many choices Tommy. Let me know what you decide to do. 👍

    Metzeler do the M9RR’s that fit the V4S, they are all you would ever need on the road, i have then on a Tuono and have no complaints

      Thanks for the info Simon ( great name btw) I’m alway interested in different tyre choices, so il definitely check them out. 👍

    I have a v4s and looking to get a little more bite from the front. Did you change your pads i the end?

    • @thatbikersimon
      @thatbikersimon  Před 4 měsíci

      I did change the pads but I didn’t think it made that much difference. I’m sure a set of race pads would but I wouldn’t fancy using them on the road because you need more heat in them to work properly.

    Hi, what real world are both you getting range per tank?
    I would have those Pirellis off urgently and onto Michelin Road 6s
    I'm currently on 2020 1290 Superduke GT but difficult to justify moving to Pikes Peak, but still interested in it

    • @thatbikersimon
      @thatbikersimon  Před rokem +1

      Hi Graham, I did a video on this how many miles per tank, riding like mrs Daisy I got 200 but that’s not Reality, 170 miles per tank is more like it, but I don’t tent to ride that hard all the time. Interested in different tyres choices I’m always up for some input as I’m going to swap out soon. If I was you I would probably have another year on the duke and wait and see if there’s any cheaper used PP for sale.

    I would get the pirelli supercorsa SP for track use. just be careful while riding on wet conditions.

    • @thatbikersimon
      @thatbikersimon  Před 3 měsíci

      I’ve experienced the SP on a wet track it’s like being on ice.

    I currently have this dilemma as I have a v4s and ordered pikes peak last year but unsure it the extra money is wort it . I ride pretty hard it I also have a panigale 1299fe which ticks that box … was hoping to get some clarity from this video but tbh your mate riding 1600 miles in 3 months doesn’t fill me with confidence and unsure he rides in such a way to push the bike and really test it ?? Any thoughts ? I may be wrong but just the impression given from the video

    • @thatbikersimon
      @thatbikersimon  Před rokem +1

      Hi Billy, I would get the PP if your into fast riding, I’ve seen all these bikes on Ducati only track days and they both performed very well I guess it all comes down to the rider. The pp has certainly been designed for your type of riding and the extra money is definitely worth it. If your going to track it when use your panigale all the guys on track was scraping the pegs.

      @@thatbikersimon Dear Simon, what a biker wants to know, is not a 13 minutes walk around other bikes and then small talk between friends. The only thing I put out is, that heated seats are better. My questions were, is the new sitting position a pain, does the windshield do its duty, is Öhmlins worth it's price, ho do the 190's back its job, is it too loud or not, does it have vibrations, what about electronics, interaction with smartphones, do you love this bike more than others etc. etc.
      So, this is my answer.
