- I was at The Apedale Valley Light Railway on 14th May 2017 for the Stanhope Steam Gala. Its hard to believe three years have passed since I was last at Apedale for the Tracks to the trenches event. Time sure is flying by.
Thanks to all involved for a very enjoyable day. I sure hope its not Three years till my next visit.

Was there on the Saturday and I have to say your video did a great job in capturing the joys of Apedale. But then you do a good job with all your videos.

I was there. At the start you can see the soldier standing on the foot plate of the steamer.That was me. It was more fun to get a lift than to walk. But the foot plate is slippy when you wear hob nail boots. I got a lift back on the simplex. It was so much fun. I was allowed to drive the branch line simplex. The Manchester's had all the kit but they could not drill. We were the Whitchurch Volunteers and we did the Casualty evacuation and we had people saying that we were better.
If you look at the other video after this one, You can see us practicing manoeuvres. It is called pepper-potting but is more known as leap frog. We are trained by an old EX army drill officer. All we do is have a laugh and show what it was like. It is no good having all the pretty kit and not being able to move in it. I look forward to the one next year. LOOK AT THE ONE UNDER THIS.

You guys certainly put a lot of work into it and make it look effortless. An Ex Army Drill Officer, and the enthusiasm of the guys make it very entertaining for the audience. I hope I'll see you all again at Apedale next time.
Thanks. We may not be the best equipped but when it comes to drill, we do it by the book. This video has only the Manchester's but if you look at the other one then you can see us practicing.

Unfortunately I'm working this weekend.
its not that we could not drill as we can do that just fine its that we rather not on a hot day as people with all the kit on became very tired very quickly, and i heard that people saying that us in the trenches was the best bit, they said the gas attack was the most intense thing they have witnessed, i'm not say anyone was better as we all had roles to play but the evac thing would not happened as the track were at the rear trenches and no where near the front meaning the firing to protect the train didn't need to happen, even if it could it wouldn't as the Germans would fire back at where they are being shot at from

That shed complex looks new, and looks like more construction going on as well. They seem to be doing quite a bit there.
AndreiTupolev yes the shed has been built since 2010, the museum is slow and yes we can use the help of your interested
As Nathan said the shed dates back to 2010 and the construction work that you see will eventually be a museum.What a wonderful addition to the Railway that will be.
