The women in these pageants go through a great deal, one would imagine, to prepare and train for these events, as well as the monetary and life sacrifices. For these women to suddenly "step down" is odd. Maybe something happened that they were not actually ready to take the leap or sell their souls. Not everyone will sell their souls for money or position. No one will know the truth except these young women and the pageant leaders.

I recall participating in the Miss Teen USA pageant decades ago (won the talent portion) and speaking with other contestants that had competed for multiple years. What struck me was one contestant noticed the type of look that won for previous years. Noelia was sexually harassed and told to get over it. Noelia had no chaperone or security handler. I’m starting to believe that 1. Either Leylah Rose doesn’t have money in the budget or 2. To the larger lady in the blazer, we can say the same about you being a host/journalist. If you are harrassed, stalked, assaulted why should you be believed as its part of the job right being in the public eye?
How insensitive and extremely rude of you to say in essence that Miss USA at 24 should question why she even entered as this kind of abuse is likely to occur! Says who?!
This is supposed to be a female empowerment platform that celebrates all things we as women enjoy: Beauty, Brains, Charity, Fitness and Fashion! Just because you do not feel confident enough to enter doesn't mean other women shouldn't 'or its their fault '!
Women like you should look in the mirror and ask yourself are YOU helping to empower women or silence them? This platform should be a fun, wonderful experience filled with opportunities to influence, encourage and impact others. 4:52 - excluding the times where Miss USA had to resign her crown as a result of winning Miss Universe (this has been a rule since the pageant’s early days), this is the first time since 1957 where the current Miss USA either resigned on her own terms (like Noelia did a few days ago) and/or was stripped of her title!!
Mary Leona Gage, who won Miss USA 1957, was stripped of her title shortly after she won after it was revealed that she lied about her age (she was 21, not 18), married, and the mother of two children (all of which were violations of the pageant rules at the time). The Miss USA 1957 title was then awarded to the first runner-up, Charlotte Sheffield of Utah.
By the time the scandal broke publicly, the Miss Universe preliminary judging (in the early days of Miss Universe, the pageant took place literally a few days to a week AFTER the Miss USA Pageant) had already taken place, with Gage chosen as a semi-finalist and allowed to participate pending the results of the investigation. After Gage was stripped of her Miss USA title, she was disqualified from Miss Universe, and Mónica Lamas of Argentina, who placed 16th in the Miss Universe preliminaries, took Gage's spot in the semi-finals. All of this meant that it was too late for Sheffield, the new Miss USA, to compete, and it would be the only time the United States has not been represented at the Miss Universe pageant.

3.) she’s silenced by an NDA…she can’t tell her side of the story unless the Miss USA organization releases her from it. Why would they hold her to it, if it didn’t make the organization look bad?

Oh please, spare us the victimhood "We're objectified like dogs in a dog show!" nonsense.
First, it's elective. Nobody is forcing these women to participate in these shows.
And secondly, men have their own version as well, bodybuilding competitions.. Which are basically beauty pageants, for men.
