OK YES I MOVED MY UNITS BACK AND FORTH I WAS BORED OK
also i know how to pronounce Maori and that it isn't pronounced MAY-OR-EE it was a bit that im a dum american ok i did it for the bit ok
1st: Maaaaaaaaa Like Baaaaaaa
2nd Maa o like the start of oar
3rd Maa o ri like reeee but with a lil of leeeee
4th Maa o ri
Then squash it together and you got MĀORI, 2-1-1 for the cadence speak from the back of your throat. EZ.
@@choosenonyx96 this actually really helped me pronounce it
@@choosenonyx96 So preschool level pronounciation lmao.
"Who should run the UN?"
"Iunno, how about those dudes in the ocean with the donkey? I have my mortgage with them."
"Those PRIMITIVE dudes in the ocean with the donkey, you mean? And good idea, I have my mortgage with them aswell."
Priceless! 😂
LMFAO
The most unrealistic part of this is the imperial powers actually fulfilling their treaty obligations on those loans to the nomadic tribe
Well, maybe they all chose Communist governments!
If AI had any sense, it would just treaten war all the time to get gold free of charge, as 1 upgraded melee unit would be enough to conquer the Dover Island.
@@Loromir17But how would they get on the island?
@@tf2keller398 cliff-climbing promotion.
not nomadic if they always stay on the same tile
Kupe: “all 0 of your tiles are being chopped and polluting the world!!”
Kupe 100 turns later: “all 0 of your tiles are preserved and have high appeal!!”
He is technically correct, which is the best kind of correct.
I'm glad this finally confirmed my belief that he's actually just bullshitting.
@@peperoni_pepinoThe futurama reference
Kupe 250 turns later: *is dead*
@@GiM_Retrospectalso Bos: fails to realize that
This challenge is like if the Sentinalese Islanders were secretly pulling the strings behind all major world events.
My new favorite conspiracy
That's why they don't want you to see what's there. It's all of the world's gold.
You say that like that isn't already happening!
They're just living free on that island and having sex all day.
They're the real winners.
This comment is WIN.
when's the no doing anything challenge coming out
You can actually win that, if you disable all victory types. The only way to win it is, if everyone else looses. It can happen in Apocalypse mode, if all AI cities are destroyed with meteors but your Settler somehow survives.
@@PiotrDzialaklmfao that’s funny
@@PiotrDzialakthat’s actually what I thought this video would be
No playing civ domination victory in less than 100 turns
I was so waiting for Menelik to win a science victory at the last second lmao
the AI won the science victory like 7 times before this one haha
I imagine all these world congresses happening at the base of the Cliffs of Dover, with Boes' ancient era people just throwing gold and prophecies (votes) down from above like some sort of generous and influential god.
either that or he sent his votes to the congress via messenger pigeon from his island prison.
@@ForcefulDragon Not without Animal Husbandry!
@@chrisdaleyanimated Too true
This challenge sounds like a conspiracy theory. “Yeah there are these primitive tribals who are stuck on this island in the middle of nowhere and they secretly control all financial institutions.”
> Bases his entire economy and society solely off lending money to other peoples while staying out of any and all conflicts and international politics
Should call this the "Switzerland Challenge"
I think it's the israel challenge, cause he was quite involved in politics
@@DiabloMet Geneva: "I am not political at all..." 😉
Thought you were going for another group of people who base their wealth off lending money to other people to extract profitfs
Grand Cayman?
@@are3287yeah you're right it's the American Politician Challenge
I was expecting him to get kicked off the cliffs by border expanson from the other civs last second. Such a fun game.
And they say there’s no economic victory
China winning the economic already in real life😅
The editing at the end was A+, I laughed so hard 😆 Can't wait to see some Cities Skylines next week!
Man... I heard the Epic music kick in, and the timers. I was fully expecting Boes to lose to a Science victory with 1-2 turns left on the last aid request
What a win! I never knew being a high interest loan shark could be so profitable!
Its a bit uncomfortable to me that the game presents a stateless people, controlling the banking sector and using that power to take over the world through the UN, to be a viable strategy.
Lends itself to the realism aspect
I love how there are people who are figuring out rocket science and then there are just a group of idiots on an Island who don't even know what a wheel is and they are incredibly rich.
As someone who hates diplomacy and always disables the win condition, this was surprisingly entertaining
i personally disable the religious win condition, becuase i've found that sometimes the AI just doesn't resist and lets someone conquer the world with religion without opposition
I'm fine with diplomacy, I just find that it's far too easy to win a Diplomatic Victory
@@marcosmauricio7805 Theres a mod I really like that changes the start era for the World Congress to Industrial (Which is what it should be in Vanilla IMO). It makes a Diplomatic Victory much more challenging/interesting since you need to plan very far ahead!
I fully understand the depths to which you're bored of civ if this is how you still have fun with the game. (neat challenge tho bro)
Congrats Boes great video. Two questions for you.
1) During your 16 times trying to win this, did you ever lose because the AI attacked your warrior/settler?
2) Is there a reason why you did not use all or most of your Diplo Favor in the final few World Congress votes? Felt like that could've maybe helped earn a few extra diplo victory points?
Congrats Boesthius. This was a wild ride and I did not see the ending coming the way it did. I don't subscribe to channels very often but this one got that button click from me. Good luck on reaching 100k!
17.42 "Prohibit woods because Kupe is in the game"
Kupe is long dead
Did he notice Kupe got wiped as well? Seems poetic.
Boes scamming the AI from a cute island. just some dudes, with no houses, no society, just walking in circles.
*AND THEN THERE IS KUPE BEING THE ANNOYING DINGUS HE IS.*
Boes hitting that next turn button faster than my dad leaving my life. (I miss him severely)
Why did he leave you, friend?
he went for milk and cigarettes@@_Gnome.
Meanwhile in my Emperor games the aid requests are so hotly contested that the AI regularly go over 3000 points...
This challenge makes me think of my daily life.
I was waiting for a civs borders to grow and knock you off of the cliffs of dover
the Victory point vote is pretty easy to get right, you just have to look who has the most diplomatic voting power, and usually that one wins because they throw everything in it to win. 😅
The impossible challenge I’ve been doing is trying to steal one of each cavalry unit as Mongolia
It’s impossible because my game inevitably reaches a point where loading a turn will crash my game
Other than that, the main problem is largely that you need to start very close to scythia, Sumeria, and macedon and that Canada absolutely refuses to build Mounties unless you’re really bearing down on them with your army for centuries and also sold them a lot of previously conquered faith heavy cities to help them have enough faith to purchase them
“I’m the only one allowed to give him a golden sh…” 😂 16:38
I love how creative everyone gets with these
This is the closest we will have to playing as a population in CIV6, you bought stocks and sold them for an up-prize then you offered loans and made money off of interest.
I want to be getting into Cities Skylines too so I'm really excited you're starting that. Hilarious challenge too, this one!
I always vote for whoever has the most diplo favor when voting for diplomatic favor, the ai always votes themselves then I get my third point instead of just 2 11:59
Great Video, I did not recognize that sound track- You amaze me in you skills of CIV - I hope you occasionally do more challenge games. Thanks for the great content
I love this video! Great work and I love the civ content!!!
5:58 LMAO genius. ya earned this sub
Boes after winning a challenge as America:
"Hard times, hard times come again no more"
very hard work to move the same unit back and forth for about 400 turns
wish you can have some positive feedbacks on the upcoming non-civ6 video!
That last countdown was like a Matrix/Rocky training montage. Absolute perfection and hilarious
I'm not sure if victories like this are a testament to the versatility of Civ 6 or how broken the systems are when properly exploited lol
Well done Boes! Your mastery of this game is truly inspirational (though a small part of my ego is grateful that it took you 16 tries to achieve this victory 😁).
It’s a testament to how doodoo the AI is
@@AGuy-vq9qp What a dumb comment. Did you miss the part where it took him 16 tries to get this victory? The AI did exactly what it needed to do to win but he got the upper hand this time. They didn't attack him because he was not seen as a threat or as a target because of his remote location and once he got on their good side he could just focus on the diplo game. Additionally, the continual disasters both allowed him to feed himself diplo points as well as keeping the AI off balance because it was in constant rebuilding mode.
I'm not going to say Civ's AI is flawless but then no 4x game has flawless AI. Not one. They all have blind spots that can be exploited. Until machine learning or some other advanced system is incorporated the existing state of AI is pretty much stretched to its limits.
I saw that reddit post too, glad to see you tackle this challenge. Good vid
The thing I never understood about the UN in the Civ games is that it actually has power and influence. You can’t just ignore it like in real life because of how the game is coded and regardless of the difference in tech it just exists. So if you’re the only one that has a strategic resource in the world the UN can somehow ban any benefit you get from it
Cool as heck. Amazing!
This is incredible dude 😂
This is like if that tribe on North Sentinal Island ruled the entire diplomatic climate on earth without truly settling anywhere on Earth.
wow, what a great video, I should try this one myself (on a lower difficulty haha)
Made me smile thank you
Loved the video. This made me rethink the loans and how much gold you can make with interest from the IA
"HOLD ON, I'm the only one allowed to give him a golden showw...
Words"
22:18 I am still surprised every time I see the diplo ending that there is Czech flag in there. Gets me every time and I have 0 idea why especially us had the honor to be there.
holy shit the shock from the fubuki clip already killed me and it hasn't even been a minute into the video, what the fuck
i am (not) a weeb
Thank you boes, very cool
I love how powerful your economy became.
That editing at the end was great haha
4:31 I have legit never considered doing this, thank u big brain boes
I’ve done it for Dave twice. Luv you boes
Honestly, mad respect for sticking through it without quick loading
I had no idea this would be even remotely possible
Is there a reason you didn’t buy all their diplo favor by mid-late game? I think it’s fair given the crazy nuzlocke you’re already in. Only thing I can think of is they can use the gold to accelerate their own victory.
The best Boes empire i've ever seen
Next Challenge: Win a Religious Victory the Next turn after founding It
How you may ask? Simple: As any Civ (You can choose the worst one possible for this Challenge, like Canada), Get a Great Prophet but not use It, do a Domination Game, but leave one Civ With its Capital Alive, and once you feel you can convert the remaining Civilization to your Religion, making sure There are Holy Sites in Most of you Important cities (so that these cities have your Religion as Majoritary), you found your Religion, Buy a bunch of Apostles, and inmediately convert the remaining Civilization. This has to be done in Deity Difficulty, and, optionally, for extra Pain, you could do the Challenge in an Enormous/Huge Map (12 Players by Default) and Also play whilst on Epic Difficulty. Have fun having the worst time of your Life!
I really appreciated the photosensitivity warning, thank you ❤
Some tricks for voting in congress:
1) Only vote for someone to lose 2 diplo if they have 14+ points already. The AI will not vote for anyone to lose points unless they have 14+, so it’ll never win until then. Before that, always vote for whoever has the most diplo favor.
2) On things like culture bomb votes (certain others, I cant remember them all) the AI won’t put in more than 1 vote. Therefore, you are the deciding vote and should always win a point.
2.5) On votes like above (where you will be the deciding factor), always vote for whoever has the least points. A couple times you voted for Lady Six when she was in the lead on diplo. This makes it so she’ll get a point also, which you don’t want.
3) I think buying diplo favor would have been more worthwhile for you throughout the game, especially if you had it piled up for some of the later votes. Even just being able to put in 2-3 votes instead of 1 can be a big swing (like putting 2 into the culture bomb one will get you a point and stop anyone else from getting that point)
The trick to world domination: find a tall rock and become a loan shark
This guy brings "PAY TO WIN" to another level
I see the beta of the World Bank Simulator is going well.
hey quick early game recomendation, you can buy diplo favor for a 1 to 20 ratio but if you sell it back one at a time you can just rebuy it next turn syphoning their money, if you wanna go through the time based pain
yo thanks for the heart :D
This was beautiful.
new challenge… play a fairly standard game with the dramatic ages game mode and ONLY fall into dark ages, but you can’t recapture the cities you lose. so you have to continuously settle new cities each era or hope your important cities don’t flip by rng. you can defend from the free cities but can’t retake them and you also can play w whatever map type/civ/other game modes to help if needed. good luck 👏
you need to click the city symbol on the bottom right with the settler selected to start a city, hope that helps
increible!!!!
Subbed for Dave!
The edit at the end 🤌 just mwah
Bos when deciding who you're going to vote for some of those world congress votes you should consider how much diplo favour the AI have. They're extremely self-centred and almost always vote for themselves. At 7:40 you vote for LSS and she has the most diplo favour so she wins, at 8:45 you vote for 50% reduction when 100% increase always wins (peter was correct though), at 10:38 you vote for Kupe despite Peter having 253 more diplo favour, naturally Peter won. Considering the AI and their selfishness, it's almost impossible to lose some of those votes.
video summary: hey, peter
All the game be like: shut up and take all of my money.
But god damn the final edit is above Hollywood level thing
These conditions were so favorable tbh, CoD island so no one can acquire the tiles or your units & apocalypse++ to have as many as aid requests as possible.
I think the thing worked on this 17th try was not loosing the game as someone else finished a victory condition. For most of the votes he didn't marked the Civ with most diplo favor in the civ selection votes.
But all in all an entertaining video, takes a good amount of time to create and I really liked the editing at the end. It was creative and engaging :)
it was mostly the AI winning by like turn 300 in my previous games, even on this map haha
Wow. Hats off to you for going through this torture. That fist pump from Teddy at the end was perfect.
My wife and I were having fun waiting to see if death came by comet right before the point of victory. lol GG WP
That's exactly why I still play civ 5
This is the power of banks.
I kept waiting for the random barbarian privateer to show up and make him scream.
Have you considered doing a 1 vs everyone, where you have them all teamed together, and you must go to war against them?
(I'm currently working on getting to the point where I don't have to use a mod to boost my stating supplies)
The moral of the story is that banking = friendship
The power of preadatory loans and the joke that is diplomatic victory makes even the most ridiclious of challenges possible
Imagine if the city borders of the other civs took your two plots of land.
d.A.v.e is big smash
This new Cayman Islands civ looks good
I love how GAME START section goes all the way up to 22 minutes of the video
And that is how Luigi took over the world.
yes, i know whats going on. very cool, i understood the whole vid and wasnt confused about what was happening.
me talking to my therapist
That is what I call the ultimte lobby playthrough, made money out of nothing but time and went in the highest sphere of decision in the world. This game kills me😂
I was really looking forward to the cut of the AI building the statue of liberty right before the end
Video editing 💯💯
That opening is too real
Sorry if this would be too much like a playthrough, but I would love to see you play a "Mongolia style" land game as Norway.
The art of the deal
Meanwhile I am hanging out of my seat against nuke-happy ghandi in king difficulty 🤣🤣
