Final approach and landing at EWR airport Runway 29 with great view of Manhattan and Statue of Liberty. The runway runs east to west at the north end of the airport and is seldom used. It is used when the winds are strong west to east.
Runway 11/29: 6,726 by 150 feet (2,050 m × 46 m)
Newark Liberty International Airport, originally Newark Metropolitan Airport and later Newark International Airport, is an international airport straddling the boundary between the cities of Newark in Essex County and Elizabeth in Union County, New Jersey.
Great video Sherpa - Recommend you mention in the title / description that this landing occurred on the rare runway 29. Which gets you the closest views to nyc. Not many videos on youtube that capture Runway 29. Landings are rare, takeoffs are super rare.
Thank you for the information and feedback :)
The biggest issue with runway 29 is that it prevents buildings in Jersey City from being taller than they otherwise could be. 99 Hudson, JC's tallest building is 899 feet high, the maximum height in JC allowed by the FAA.
Thank you for sharing this information.
Excellent Video-clip! Smooth Landing!
Thanks for watching :)
Runway 29, hardly used, except during Winter, with it's strong winds from the west.
Thanks for the information, I took this video around end of February.
I used it when coming home from Honolulu and it was April on United airlines

I live in North Jersey and travel the NJ Turnpike everyday. I noticed on windy days they use Runway 29. It's pretty cool to get the timing just right to have the plane fly right over you.
Could remember in June 1996, we stayed at nearby Day's Inn ( not sure still existed) for 3 weeks. Every evening we watched airplanes landing from the sky,so marvellous view. All flights seem like Q-up in the sky before landing, every few seconds, the aircraft appears, and landing...and so on. ERW was quite a busy airport. Nice view !!
Thank you for sharing 🙏
.Must have been a windy day!!! From the west. I have been there, scary flying over the Hudson turning to final. that water looks awful close!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for sharing your experience. It was windy, and landing was a little rough-overall great flight.
I remember when I went to Newark I could see all of Staten Island.
Thanks for sharing, I was lucky to get a great view of NYC.
Excellent vid
Thank you
Oh yes, that’s the short runway. I’ve taken of and landed on that one a few times. But mostly runway 22 right or left. And yes it was very windy on they day 29 was used.
Thanks for watching and sharing your experience with 29.
Old 29. Used in heavy crosswinds.
It was windy that day. Thanks for watching.

I'd just imagine the OG wtc, not the "new one"
