      I remember going to the "old" Newark airport in my childhood to watch planes on the observation deck.

      I remember that tower traveling back and forth to Newark oh those days of flying were fun and Kiwi is the only airline i really remember most from those times

    Watching this video now makes it seem like it was 40 years ago. Tri-holers everywhere. Great airlines like Midwest Ex, and Midway almost gone from memory, by now. I remember being 19-20 in college, along with..smoky bars, email labs, Sheryl Crow, Alanis Morrisette and Metallica on MTV.

    Anyone who remembers Flight 93 that depart out of Newark and Flight 77 depart out of Dulles and Flight 11 and Flight 175 that both of them depart out of Boston

    continental before united slapped their name on plane lol good to see a old united rainbow livery even though it changed to the battlestar gray scheme

    It used to be the Continental hub at the EWR airport and now’s the United hub.

    Newark airport used to have more variety in aircraft and airlines and I wish a was alive at that time to see it.

    WOW ! I'm jealous of the vantage-point you had filming this, on the roof of the old PA Admin building !
    I worked EWR from '86 -'01, starting with PeoplExpress then Continental,transferring to IAH in April of '01.
    Thanks for posting, I had a lot of fun at EWR.

    Remember tons of Continental DC10s at Newark through the late 90s. I think the Concorde mishap hastened their retirement. Midway did not fly again after 9/11.

      The Concorde accident had nothing to do with it. They were already slated to be retired and replaced by 777-200ER.

      tanay.when our world everything is so good but time after time yearby year everything is gone I really miss this times 90sandcspecialy past 2000s my childhood period when planes are so good and sound was impressive specially bowing 737.200 and old United airlines old is gold remember that and nowadays not as close with this planes .

    Almost all planes in this video are in the graveyard now with the exception of the CO, DL, and maybe the UA 757s. This feels like an "all my friends are dead" scenario O_O

      The CO 757s are still flying. And most of the 767s and A310s are probably still flying either in developing countries or as converted freighters.

    Ahhh, my ole stomping grounds. What no BAC 1-11s? We both know there was at least one based there. Maybe not in 97 though.

    Reminds me of a flight I was on in May 2017 going to Newark. United 757-200 from LAX to EWR. Sunset landing. Interesting thing: flight number was UA 1997. Just like this video.

    5:08 the EMB-120 I was a FA for Continental Express May 1997-August 1998 however was based in Cleveland. Wasn’t crazy about the 120

    Video looks very accurate. I used to work there in 1997-98. At least this video did get a few of the ATR's but still missed the A-340's. The 727's would sometimes climb out much lower over the employee parking lot and set off some of the car alarms with its very loud "whisperjet" turbojet engines. So why is everyone keeping the population reduction secrete?

      No. 727s thta weren't upgraded to Advanced standard (i.e. without hushkits) were very loud. The L-1011 TriStar was a remarkably quiet plane.
