- Baarle-Hertog and Baarle-Nassau might be the most fascinating places in Europe.
There are many enclaves and almost countless international border crossings between Belgium & The Netherlands. They also have two football clubs, in two different counties, in the same village!

Where else is like this?!
By the way love your videos please keep it up!
Chester sprang to mind 😅
Mate, also in Belgium, Vennbahn border (Roetgen, Germany) is also a mess, very interesting history tho
Ceuta and Melilla are two Spanish teams playing in African continent
@David Shiels 👍👏
I live in a city a couple miles from there and the story of these towns during lockdown (when all clothing stores were closed in Belgium but they are still open in the nl , so had to go there) is still funny to me 😂😂😂
The border crosses through the "Zeeman" clothing store , when the lockdown in Belgium began they closed the Belgian part of the store but kept the Dutch part open 😅
Sometimes reality is weirder than even the strangest fantasy.
Thats crazy talk
That's bureaucracy for you
This is proof that treaties and agreements can last for centuries . And shows that belgians and dutch are true to their words .
And that the friendship between the Dutch and Belgian people is more important than the useless borders between us
We are basically like best friends nowadays 🇧🇪❤🇳🇱

Not just great ⚽ content, but geography too 🌍 It's very educational watching Footy Adventures 🙂
This is one of your best ones yet! Love the geekiness of this, the stadiums and the people. Great video Sam!
Chester is one front is in England and pitch and three stands in Wales .When covid was around they nearly got points deduction because in England you could play but in Wales you couldn’t.👍
I’m American but my dad was born and raised in Poland and moved over here when he was 18. Also one of my best friends is from Birmingham and moved over when we were kids. Trying to plan a trip to England with our friends for him to show us around and also other European countries to go see abunch of matches from non league to the highest leagues! Love seeing all these videos about these lower league teams!
If you end un in Brum (Birmingham) get down to Stourbridge, great day out at the footy there. Stand behind the goal with a beer calling the opposition keeper a c**........ something nasty!!!
I'm Belgian, I played for a club in my region and one season we played at KVV Dosko. So I played at the first "stadium"
Enjoyed this episode Sam, good show! 🍀👍
Wow, that's very interesting village Sam. Thank you for bring us to visit
Brilliant Sam, long term subscriber and think this is possibly your most interesting video yet. Keep up the great work 👍🙂
Great video, one of your best. Was in Belgium last week & visited the Brussels clubs, RWDM, RSCA & USG...
Absolutely fascinating stuff Sam, I never knew about this situation, although I did once use a photo of a cafe there right next to one of the Belgian borders in a pub quiz a few years ago !
Great content! You did your research 👍
All the best from the Netherlands!
Fascinating, love the geography and history oriented videos
Fascinating video Sam. Had no idea such a place existed. 👍
fantastic as usual sam
Great vid sam
Londonderry in Northern Ireland, Institute FC and Derry City play in same Stadium but different leagues in different nations lol. Although I think you kind of covered that before. Also a touchy subject 😂 Great wee video once again Sam 👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻⚽
On the border between the Czech Republic (Český Těšín) and Poland (Cieszyn), two stadiums are separated by a small river. You can kick the ball from one ground (state) to another.
Sams channel is turning into a history channel and it’s awesome keep up the great work Sam
Quality work geeze !!!!
This is actually insane! Great vlog 👏
Nice One SAM Well Done 👍... From SCOTLAND 🏴.
Great video and basically in my backyard! Grtz from Gilze, NL
In corona time there was a store that's on the border of Belgium and The Netherlands. Which due restrictions could open the Belgian side but closed the Dutch side. So people could only buy things that were on the Belgian part of the store.
🤦♂️
The only experiences with land borders I've had, have been with "straightforward" ones and two of those were backwater-ish... I definitely need to get out of the house more often! 😂
Great video 👍👍👍👍
Crazy how much your channel has grown I remember 2k. Well done Sam, are you doing ireland this summer?
Fascinating video young man as never knew any of that and I got a Geography o level
Really interesting!
I hope both teams will reach the Euro leaques some time so they can face each other finally
Sam, weird and wonderful. Love it.
14:27 I noticed that 'Slagerij Jansen' (Butcher Jansen) sponsors both the Dutch team and the Belgian team as can be seen at 10:33
10:53 - Smoke a joint. 😂
I've been fascinated with this place for years but never had a chance to go there so I'm really happy to see your video! Gloria UC currently play in the 5th Class of Dutch amateur football (10th tier overall), having been relegated from the 4th class last season. They are currently 2nd in their division, so are hoping for a quick return. Dutch amateur football at all levels is wonderful - a very friendly, community-orientated sport, where people are happy to support their local clubs. I would recommend going to a game in the amateur divisions and find out how welcoming they are. There is always a clubhouse packed with people, and always someone happy to talk about the club.

Very much enjoying
The Dutch Votebal content of
late.
Sam we have similar interests
Footbal , Geography & flags very interested in all of them.
Love wee gems of knowledge like this.
I love learning about
Sports history through sports we learn a lot about how we came to be today historically speaking.
Love, Languages the history of them , flags , geography borders can be very interesting aswll I knew Canada & The U.S.A. have a complex border that runs through lakes & towns.
I love the history of
Dutch Votebal.
Keep Safe Sam.
There isn’t much of the team on Wikipedia
So well done on the video Sam😊
You going Inverness and Falkirk Scottish Cup match?
Will be interesting which matches you go to in May at the end of the season 😮
I always go to this town to buy my fireworks 🎇
Bij is pronounced like Bi, just FYI. Great content always. I enjoy watching it very much. Also one suggestion I'd like to make for a club to go and see. Union Berlin is incredible, very much worth a trip. I am Dutch myself but this club really swiped me of my feet. Working in professional football myself I seen much, but nothing like Union Berlin at their home ground.
Our old ground in Slough had goals in different counties ( not countries)
One was in Berkshire the other one was in Buckinghamshire.
Odd, crazy and absolutely brilliant.
The Dutch and the Belgian border is one of the most interesting and fascinating borders in the world
During the 2020/2021 COVID lockdowns, it was very complicated. BE and NL had different lockdown laws and a lot of streets were closed. You should read 'Passport to Enclavia' by Vitali Vitaliev.
Must've been even more confusing when each country had their own currency
I was here in Baarle-Hertog!
Baarle-Nassau = NAC! 💛🖤 💪
= gestaakt😂
I will get to this place, one of these days. 🙂
Though the most complicated border situation, with enclaves and exclaves, used to be between India and Bangladesh, until they finally sorted it out!
The Belgian clubs' parking lot is in The Netherlands...
5:52 welcome Biche ... 😂 imagine if it actually said that...
But nice video about our weird border
I live in Tilburg 18km from Baarle-Nassau in dialect we say Boal, played once against Gloria UC
Wow!!!This is an extremely so fantastic fascinating story regarding the respective nations' borders and surely, there would be two immigration departments facing each other for the passport purposes for the respective people who live next to each other, good friend!!!🏋️♂️
You could eat a salted haring in the netherlands. Its not prohibited in Belgium but they just dont like good food.
There are also Willem II villages and NAC villages...
Baarle Nassau is an Willem II village, you should ask the people who life there, which they support.
Also there is a lot of aversion to each other on, mostly on a fun way.
I guess it's true that every village has some idiots.... Most of the people in Baarle have common sense and support NAC ;-)
What a Fantastic Place! Very good I liked a lot. Thanks for the video. Hugs from Brazil. 🤗✌😉
If you check the dutch royal fam history....it was called oranje Nassau
Should go to chesters ground, they claim to be an English club but all 4 stands and pitch are in Wales only small part off offices are in England
Call me controversial but the Flemish region of Belgium should reunite with the Netherlands. Considering there's more religious tolarence (Protestant/Calvinist north vs Catholic south) nowadays and the very similar culture and language, Belgium's position as a buffer state should end which would enable a stronger domestic football pyramid too. 🤝
that is quite simply crazy, I just don't get it!! Need to do a tour of the west midlands non league clubs, would be great seeing you at Stourbridge, Halesowen and Lye Town
Imagine living there, biking to your mates house and getting 3 text messages "welcome to Belgium" "welcomd to tje Netherlands" etc
i love this place i defo need to go one day
If Im not wrong, Chester FC home stadium is half in Wales and half in England
Not a football thing, but there is a parkrun (free weekly timed 5km runs on Saturdays for those who don't know) which starts in Cieszyn in Poland and the route crosses the border with the Czech Republic
Boss video
Good man Sam, addressing Derry by its proper name 🤪🇮🇪
Not even a debate, 75% Nationalist city.
Who wasn’t or moreover, who was, bursting out laughing when Sam was heading towards the goalposts?
I just looked it up and Gloria UC play in the 10th tier of the Netherlands. There's Eredivisie --> First Division, which are the two professional leagues. Then there are second division, which are the semi-profs. And then we have a split in Saturday and Sunday amateurs, which has to do with Christian clubs and non-Christian clubs. The Christian clubs couldn't play on Sundays, so they always played on Saturdays. The other clubs then played on Sundays. Third division (one group for both days) and Fourth division (2 groups for both). And then there are 5 tiers of regional amateur divisions also separated by the Saturday/Sunday thing.
Gloria UC plays in the 5th regional Sunday division, so the lowest tier in the Dutch league system.
The place to go for the pyro ;p
Unique Guys .
.
Dude got really excited about the line on the road LOL
Now you have to go visit all the counter enclaves.. 🤣🤣 Oman Road trip 🤣🤣
There should be a stadium where the halfway line is on the border
13:13 the away is the club where I play
And my dad is the president of that club the name is Voab it stands for “Van onder af begonnen”
Gloria UC is always in our division. We call it an international game because of all the Belgian voices screaming over the field
Come to Aberdeen vs Rangers
🏴 AND 🏴
I bet this town is a riot when Belgium play NL in international football.
You have to go to buinerveen They have A great stadium and the support is great
More 🔥 content
true
The phonetic would be something like Barl-Uh Nas-Ow and "bij" is pronounced "by" as in dutch the ij are kind of one letter pronounced as "I" or "eye" or "aye". PS Nijmegen vs Altrincham 22nd July see you there?
BOSKO is actually 9th tier. There's 5 national tiers and 4 provincial tiers.
please come to united vs livingston next week🙏 we always win when you watch us🤣
Go to Blackburn vs Burnley on the 25th of April as it is one of the biggest rivalries in the world
Just imagine if both clubs of Baarle unite to create a stronger team with more support too.
I wonder how things worked in the village pre Schegen?
The Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg abolished border controls long before Schengen as a part of the "Benelux" union. In 1960 this union abolished border checks between the 3 countries, 35 years before Schengen came into force. Before 1960, the village was effectively treated as a part of The Netherlands in most border checks, as you always have to cross through The Netherlands to get to Baarle-Hertog, the village itself couldn't really be used for smuggling and no further checks would take place.
Van Dijk is actually born pretty close to this video.
in Breda
2:30 xD
Are you going to the Scottish semis my brother 💙🏆
Imagine living in Belgium, going to work to Netherlands, going for lunch in Belgium, back to work in Netherlands, then after work, grocery shopping in Netherlands, before going back home in Belgium 😂
I like your vids but please do some research on the team's you visit. At minimum the Tier , League , and League position as part of your videos.
Should check out a ground with an Elascon stand next time you're in the Netherlands. A very Dutch non-league thing.
Can you go to Radcliffe Fc in England
Chester fc which you have done a video English club that’s 95% in wales 😂
thats nothing there is a city in my country where the fans of one of the teams pretend they are from another country
I know one as well in Scotland where the fans think they're English.
I know of a club that parades itself as the same club ,even after liquidation.
@@AGxAG nice try ye fud , but your sister club is of no interest to me , and everthing i said was true about the "greatest supporters in the world"
Imagine no countries!
And we thought we were bad in Northern Ireland 😁
come to aberdeen vs rangers
no
Boring
@FootyCentral2.0🏴🏴 who would want to watch that bollocks
Bij is pronounced as a short bye.
Just a little thing, the lowest tier in belgium is the 9th tier. The guy of dosko was wrong
