It's a competitive program, so it's not because amateurs come out. The best in Korea with the best singing ability comes out and competes. Sohyang at that time was when the reputation in Korea was much lower than other competitors. She's an underground ccm singer who doesn't appear on the air. It was very disadvantageous because of the competition due to the vote of the audience.

I suppose you really enjoyed Sohyag's stage of O Holy Night :-) It's rather entertaining to see you trying so hard to lower the temperature of the screen.... You picked up the high key from the very start, but by the end, we all know that the key was not that high in her realm. And of course, she changed it...for making the performance the best Xmas performance I've seen.
She did not win on this but I believe she always placed in the top 3. These contests go a lot on audience vote and she wasn't very well known yet on the early contests. It's really this contest "I Am A Singer" that brought her to public attention.

Yes, So Hyang hit the 6th octave near the end of the song! What a singer! I am SO glad I found her about 1 1/2 years back singing Bridge Over Troubled Water. To say I was absolutely floored is an understatement! Well, you know what I mean because doubtless everyone here has heard her rendition. There is nobody like her in this entire world. 😉🙃😎
Qofy, are you going to do "The Prayer" duet she did with Jeong Ui Geun? She has the most beautifully rounded tone in this song. You just won't believe your ears! In fact, you can throw away your ears after you hear her and this gentleman sing this because you will know that now you have heard everything! And she looks more beautiful singing here than in any other video I have seen of her!
