She is a survivor of uterine cancer from the age of 20, just after getting married, and states very plainly that God saved her life due to the prayers of her church. But this left her without the ability to have children so she decided to dedicate her life to being a Contemporary Christian Gospel singer and has refused recording contracts from the biggest corporations in the world. She only wants to sing for charities, churches and while doing missionary work, to strengthen those suffering through difficult times. David Foster, Josh Groban, Michael Bolton and others have all eagerly worked with her when they were in South Korea or Japan. She contracted hepatitis B from a blood transfusion during her cancer surgery and it clings to her to this day. I've definitely expressed that myself that she has a voice of liquid GOLD. She is a stunning find, a rare gem. She takes your breath away and you need time to mentally and emotionally absorb what you hear when she sings. Her voice is that tangible and moving. It really is an indescribable emotion that she can inject in you. A Gift from God. If this doesn't trigger a sense of God's presence in humanity, I don't know what will. Her voice is sent from God.

Welcome to Sohyang's world. I see others have already told you some of her backstory. We love Sohyang equally for her voice and who she is. She has so many great performances it can be hard to know where to start. 'Bridge Over Trouble Water' from Immortal Songs 2 would be one of the top picks. Although Sohyang survived cancer many years ago it left her with hepatitis and many bouts of pneumonia and just generally not good health so you do need to pick your tracks carefully. She was well all though Immortal Songs 2 with the only exception being "You raise me Up' but that is such a special performance its still worth watching. She thought that might be her last performance as she had thought of giving up singing due to her health. She disappeared fro about 18 months after that and came back strongly in 2020 in Begin Again Korea which is a wonderful show where a group of Korean singers and musicians go around busking.
