@@RickRomanelli i have the ep the sl drive and the soul driven. I keep the ep booster as an always on pedal at the end of the chain just for coloring the tone. I use the soul driven also always on with the gain at zero and the mid and tone control at 13 o clock.
Great demo sir some mighty fine playing and info about the pedals loving the dude sounds as for transparent pedals I also haven't a clue what that term means to me if it sounds good for your rig that's all that matters no matter what the pedal is greetings from Bonnie Scotland
Hey Rick here's a suggestion, I had the Joyo Trem...and I don't know if you have Palmer pedals in the US but I bought a Palmer Tremolo, it's a little smaller than an MXR footprint and has 3 controls - speed, depth and wave form and you know how on almost all trem pedals the wave goes up then down and when it goes down you lose some volume well the Palmer gives just enough of a boost so that the sound isn't drowned out when the wave dips and it only cost me 52 euros about 65 USD. jacks on top and cool logo, no "attack dog" LOL. Mike.
Sounds interesting. I bought a Vertigo. It sounds good with lots of control. I could check out the palmer though. Thanks! I still like the Joyo. Sometimes I put both on the board.
I was looking at a SD so this comparison is useful. If my ears are hearing well, The Dude is a smoother bluesy tone with more clarity than the SD? Or is that just at your fav settings? Also seems like the Dude doesn't need any boosting or compression to do its thing well, but may be the SD benefits a bit from the other Xotic pedals? Thanks for demo and ant response. Cheers
Cuddle Monstie You are mostly correct. The SD does not really need the comp and boost. I just love that sound. The Dude is really the best OD pedal I have ever had and could easily be the only gain stack pedal on my board. The SD is a close second albeit I would say tied with the Xotic AC-RC Oz. See my videos on that too. Thank you so much for watching and commenting.
Hi just subbed to your channel, love your playing and pedals. Would you say the xotic soul driven covers the same sounds as the other xotic drive pedals such as the rc, ac & bb? Which xotic pedals do you have on your own pedalboard?
Hey, Mickey. First, thanks for subbing. I hope you continue to enjoy the content. I would say the soul driven can cover the AC but not so much the RC. It does a good higher gain overdrive very well. Also, it has that Mid boost knob which is great. The RC is its own thing. It is a great clean boost that can also provide a little touch of drive. I got the AC RC Oz last week and it's really great. Sometimes I think I'm in denial about what pedals might be a waste of money. I could play for the rest of my life with just the Dude. I just love to buy pedals. So I keep buying good ones. I really like Xotic stuff. I have EP Booster, SP Compressor, AC RC Oz, and Soul Driven and I switch them out periodically.
Hi. The Dude is a Dumble Overdrive Special amp clone (Robben Ford type tone). It's a great drive pedal and it can cover many gain levels. It has great low end and a lot of headroom. It has a sort of a rounded tone as opposed to a harsh distortion. It's definitely my favorite OD pedal. J Rockett Audio makes it. It's only as noisy as your pickups and your cables, if that answers your question.
I'm lucky enough to have a few good overdrive pedals. The Dude is well up there. None of the CZcams videos I have watched do it justice (no disrespect). It's a fantastic pedal and the loudness can be tamed easily enough.
I'm playing through it right now. It's for when I don't want to worry about not getting a good tone. It's always good. Any guitar, any amp. Thanks for your comment.
The Dude abides
A really smooth and transparent boost is the Fulltone 2B Boost. I sold my EP and got the 2B but hey to each his "pedal"...
I really like the Xotic pedals. Thanks. I like Fulltone pedals as well. I have a Full Drive from 1997. Thanks for watching and commenting.
The real winner here is that EP booster. The soul food combination was amazing.
That's right. The SP and the EP. I use them all the time. Thanks for watching!

Rick Romanelli hi Rick thanks for the reply, what pedal is the dude based on? Can it do low, medium & high gain?
Is it a noisy pedal ?

Rick Romanelli hi rick thanks for your info you have been very helpful.
Yep no problem. I love talking about gear.
you're getting some great sounds out of those pedals, i never know which to put in front of what............
I always just sound like me either way. Thanks.
sounds good though!

Great pedals for such bad cables, man! Still, great review;)
How dare you! I spent so much money on these cables!! :) Thanks for watching and commenting. Peace!
Give me a Dude any day of the week! CAN'T BE BEAT!
Agreed. It does it all. gotta be careful though. It's loud and bassy. Thanks for watching!
@@RickRomanelli Yes, it is loud! If you turn it up, but not if you don't. My Dude is on 95% of the time when I use my pedal board.
Looks like you need more pedals... phasers, flangers... oh, and a Metal Zone MT-2!!!
I'd like to get a phaser. What is this Metal Zone you speak of?
nice comparison! and great playing!
Thank you so much for watching and the kind comment!
Soul Driven for me like its smoother sound
Cool. thanks for weighting in.
I've had about 5 J Rockett pedals and they all have the same problem - the jack ins and outs are too, too loose.
In 3 years, no problem with the jacks. Maybe I lucked out?
Purple Haze Maybe your plug is too small.....
: )
5:30 neck pup comparison sold me...Dude!
I'm glad you appreciated that. Thanks.
