Maybe it’s cuz of they way they used lighting? Idk
It's likely because of the lineart and tweening style
both the lineart and the colors are flat and simple while the shading is on the individual layers making them look paper-ish?? if you have a better word for that lmk
the shading is very blurred/smudged compared to the coloring giving it a lot more depth and certain sides aren't outlined
The way they move is also pretty realistic even if their expressions are simple
