The PC Engine was manufacturer NEC's entry into the home console race. Introduced to North America in the very late 80s (and renamed to the baffling TurboGrafx-16), it was set to compete against Sega's Genesis and Nintendo's Super Nintendo ...but unfortunately failed miserably. This was a real shame as the console had some really amazing games, as hopefully this video will show.
NOTE: This video only covers the core PC-Engine/TurboGrafx-16 and their HuCard format - NOT the subsequent CD-ROM format - so you will not see Rondo of Blood in this list. - Hry

Just picked up one of these gems remember playing most of these games as a kid hands down imo best console of that era
@The Iced Coffee God I bought the console on mercari and have about half the games that are in this video honestly it didn't sell well in America do to bad advertising but in all do respect to super nes the turbographx 16 had better graphics and games

It's crazy how there is basically no licensed titles. Beside the Batman game that has a very generic gameplay there is nothing on that list. Nes, Snes, Genesis and all those other console had a ton of licensed stuff. From saturday morning cartoons like Ducktales to movies like Jurassic Park. There is none of that on PC-Engine. Pretty much none of the PC-Engine games spawned long lasting franchises either. It's been decades since the last Bonk game. The PC-Engine is a gaming time capsule completely isolated.
Many if not all these games I never heard of, as I didn't really know about the TurboGrafx 16!

I have a PC Engine emulator on my phone!! It's a dope emulator I got a controller that hooks up to the phone.. This will probably be the closest to me playing Pc Engine again.

Too many good games left out and far too many below average games included here. Batman? Power Sports? Racing Damashi all mediocre. What about classics such as Sapphire, Dracula X, Spriggan, sylphia, Strider. Mr. Heli, Vigilante?

Time Cruise is criminally underrated in this list, and Devils Crush is overrated. Splatter house is too low, R-Type is too high, and Blazing Lazers is better than Soldier Blade. Also Street Fighter 2 wasn't really a marquee game for this system, so it feels weird having that on there.

I am a millennial and my first console was a 2600, which I still play reasonably often. I got it in 1989 or 1990 when I was about three years old
