  • Anybody who knows me, knows I have tried just about every journaling method in the book. Almost none have worked for me. Which makes sense, we are all different. That said, I have combined the lessons I learned from multiple different methods to come up with my simple 4 step method to have maximum effectiveness while journaling.
Here's the journaling method I adapted to that changed my life.

This kind of clicked that writing immediate thoughts records so much more rather than writing everything in order. As usual, doing that I kinda lose motivation and end up not writing the main thing I wanted to. Also, a minimalistic journey is better for me as I think it won't make me feel overwhelmed in a way. Thanks this was good!

You hit the nail directly on the head! I used to do the exact same thing and try to always do it in order and before I knew it, I didn’t even want to journal anymore. Therefore, I got nothing out of the experience because I didn’t even get to the part(s) I wanted to journal about in the first place.
I can’t thank you enough for the amazing feedback and taking the time out of your day to stop by and share your thoughts.
      All the best,
      Collin

i opened youtube to find something on journaling - mostly because i'm procrastinating my own journal, lol - and the algorithm dropped this video in my lap. the part about hard truths is real. i don't journal often, mostly only when there's really something on my mind i can't shake any other way, but that kinda means that i feel quite a bit of contempt towards my journal, since it mostly holds the ugliest parts of myself and my life. maybe i need to do it more often outside of crisis so it becomes more of a neutral tool than a pandora's box that i hide in the back of my shelf.

The hard truths are arguably the least talked about part of journaling, at least from what I’ve seen on CZcams. Ironically, it’s one of the most vital and important aspects of it too.
I’m grateful that this video was helpful in showing that aspect and the power you give yourself when you acknowledge those “not so pretty” moments.
I appreciate you stopping by and taking the time to share your thoughts and experience. It means a lot!
      All the best,
      Collin

Hi Collin, lovely video, thank you for sharing your personal process.
What I really appreciate about your message is that there is no complicated 27 to 1000 step "productivity system" attached. Being minimalist and free flowing about the journaling process takes a lot of resistance out of the process and makes it easy to approach, start and to stay consistent.
I like that you have added in self-reflection about doing things that we enjoy. Doing things that we enjoy re-energize us and are just so good for our mental health.
    Thank-you,
    MJ

Thank you for stopping by MJ! I’m always happy to see your comments on my videos and thrilled you find value in the message I aim to get across :)
Journaling is something that is so easy to overthink, stress, and become overwhelmed with and ironically that is the entire opposite of what journaling is supposed to be! If I can help share even the slightest on how simple and effective it truly can be, that’s all I could truly hope for.
Also, at the end of the day happiness and doing what makes us happy is our ultimate goal. I think it’s important to give ourselves the opportunity to acknowledge and focus on achieving that.
      As always, only the best,
      Collin
