Let's say I wanted to hard wire this to a switch would I just need the yellow and green cable?

i forget color coding right now it has 3 wire

Is there any way that I can replace that stud/shaft at 11:28 I drove out of the garage with the tailgate open and that stud/shaft broke. I'm looking for a way to fix or replace it. My car is a Acura MDX 2003.
