For the clean blended fuzz to work with guitars, you really have to turn the amps up to where they're overdriven. Through a cranked Marshall, blended fuzz can sound so cool for guitar. The blended in clean sound adds some clarity to the chaos. Definitely adding in a drive pedal also gets the job done as you demonstrated. The '77 Fuzz Blender is certainly a cool pedal. Sounds great for bass! I had to look at the specs, and the 77 Fuzz Blender is an based on the OpAmp Muff.

If a Klonk (a)Lone has a bass boost - like the Thneed - I like to put it at the end of my signal chain with bass, have the gain & tone a little less than 12 o'clock, bass boost switch engaged, and volume to taste. Gives a great, amp-like saturation!
Your underestimating the thneed it needs its own video you can take the back off and there three switch that changes the diode and get different sounds you can mix or match them and I do believe u can true bypass it or buff it with another switch there might be another switch too but definitely look into it very worth checking out I plan on getting the pedal soon also when you buy it part of the money goes to saving the trees 😊

That '77 Fuzz Blender could replace my original Fender Blender whose components are showing their age. On its own, the blend setting is not very interesting _but_ a band context, the wall of sound stands out thanks to the clean attack, which you can attenuate with a slight overdrive as you said. I currently use a Zzoyd Ghost of Kyiv (Ukrainian, worth checking out) instead of the Fender, but from what I hear the Supercool would be even better at that.

I think if I sent my Teisco ET-440 through the '77 and 800 through my Crate V33 it'll be a straight up sludge factory. Which means I might have to do just that...
Ryan, you gotta start recording some solo stuff. That looping portion was 100% something I'd listen to while I'm working. It's kinda got a Melvins type sludginess with some surf undertones and that's a vibe I can get down with!

@jasondorsey7110 couldn't agree more. It's the first tube amp I'd owned and was looking for something a little more low-mid for something similar to Josh Homme's Kyuss era tone without running a bass cab. It brings out a lot of really cool characater from any guitar I've plugged into it.

Not sure how it works with guitar pedal housings but with skateboards, the C&D rarely ever comes and every single one of these designs have been ripped off via skateboard graphics. Would be interesting to know what the threshold is

I've come to rely on klon style pedals. They help my sit in a band mix better. Tube screamer also helps in that regard. Fuzz and (some) distortion pedals just get lost in my experience.
i had a jag stang 20 years ago im a fiend for 24 inch scale so i nabbed one for 175 bucks or something just couldn't get into it i hate mustang switches so i flipped in doubled my money. even my 1965 mustang has a pickguard made for neck only pickup no switches. my main guitars are a 1963 jaguar paid 600 for and a 1964 jaguar i paid 185.00 for back when nobody cared about them. theyre really about all i play anymore mainly the 64

Yeah…also not a Klon fan. I have one “klonish” pedal (the J.Rockett Rockaway) which I mostly use as a clean eq, but when distorted, it can make a drive sound after it really cut through the mix.
This is what a Klon is best suited for imo. Doesn’t matter which one, be it cheap or expensive. They all tend to sound best with other (usually fuller frequency transparent) overdrives after them. Pushes them with just the right amount of high mids and cuts just enough low end.
Regarding your "Klon" remarks: I get it about there possibly being too much white man blues out there that utilizes them. But I don't hear them so much in terms with identifying them solely with that genre or any one "genre" necessarily. I appreciate your love for taking things into the realm of "things that ripp" and "blunt objects" as much as the next guy and definitely need to play with the sorta gear that can take me there. That said, I can't simply regard the Klon as some mere overdrive or just some sorta "classic rock" tone barker. To me the Klon simply takes the best tones of my instruments and boosts them to their optimum. Sometimes with a sweet-brilliant breakup but, somehow, just before the instrument starts to break into those other places that we all like to go. Plus they're great for New York Dolls sorta raunch as well! As you were, Sir....

Awesome pedals asinine prices. I remember in the 80's my neighborf was electronics freak and a preteen that played guitar I loved it. He taught me to make overdrives with parts that cost pennies at radio shack. I would disect my MXR pedals for fun and switch caps and resistors and what not to mess with sound.
My prices are in CAD, not USD, I suspect you may be mixing up the conversion rates because I price my pedals as competitively as possible! I am not a mega corporation pumping out pedal after pedal from a factory; I am just one dude making each pedal by hand, which takes a lot of time and attention. I price my pedals based on the effort it takes, the high cost of materials, and the cost of running my business, in order to make a tiny margin of profit to be able to continue doing so. If you don't want to support that, I suggest continuing to make your own pedals!
Radio Shack doesn't exist anymore and parts aren't always cheap or quick to find or ship anymore either. Some things didn't trickle down from the 80's like it was supposed to 🤷🏻♀️

There are so may boost/over drive pedals out there it drive me nuts. I just use Catlinbread as it goes with the Catlinbread delay. I have other "Budget friendly pedals. -I have mesa amps. Do I really need a Mesa "Overdrive pedal"? when I have a gain on the foot switch.-I do not think any one can really tell the difference, unless you are the jerk off who makes the JHS stuff. Screw him 2x~S. Best of luck. I hop you find something that makes you thirlled. When it comes to the most expensive overdrives, you audience will not know the difference. I believe that-God bless.
