    I understand that if the pilot is instrument rated and current, and the Bristell is registered as E-LSA, then an IFR clearance into IMC is legal. What I don't understand is why the Bristell is limited to RNAV (GPS) approaches in such a circumstance. Why not ILS, LOC, or VOR approaches?

      If the nav equipment is onboard there is no problem with using ILS, LOC vs RNAV

      @@johnrathmell610 So now I understand. Just a matter of extra costs for the antennas, LRUs, and wiring in between. Not all customers will want these, apparently. Thanks for the explanation.
