As much as I love the design, and promised convenience, It looks like they are going the route that most companies choose to do these days which is releasing a half made program and letting the first iterations be corrected by paying users which has gotten exhausting lol

Without a linear video I really don't trust the length of time it takes to respond. From the editing of this video (and all the others I have watched thus far), the rabbit is so slow that the delay has to be cut out to keep the video moving forward.

Yep, this would be my primary concern. For sure, the Rabbit is a neat device. But safe bet that a year from now, a lot of phones will add a dedicated AI button that let users quickly enter some sort of AI chat mode (perhaps even using their preferred AI model under settings). And a lot of people will then choose to carry one less device. However, I think the Rabbit could have potential as a device targeted to those who need a simpler interface (young children, non-tech savvy senior citizens, and so on). Though they might want to make the screen a bit larger and offer font size adjustment settings if marketing to older folks.

It’s an absolute shame that companies are allowed to release half-baked products to the marketplace and sell based on the promise of what their product is “going to be” rather than what it actually is and offers. These devices are a prime example of tech companies taking advantage of the hype created on social media while leveraging attractive design. Shoppers in our era are making uneducated decisions based solely on looks.

Nowadays companies are moving in a fast pace to move to be the first. This is totally understandable seeing how the pace of AI is improving. However, for the past month the people at Rabbit Tech have released a bunch of updates (they have basically released updates every week since the beginning of the month) to address a bunch of issues (like battery life, time and GPS). I have this device and it is extremely useful and look forward to more updates. They are listening to the community and are releasing updates based on suggestions from the community (they are in discord). So, in my opinion, it is definitely worth it. The most recent update (5/23) was awesome, adding new features to the device that enhance the experience. I bought two more, one for my son and one for my wife. If you are a student, the device definitely helps. It gives pictures along with the answer to a question. The fact that we can all talk to the device (and not have to type) and it understands (even my wife who has an accent) us makes it awesome. Does it have issues, yes (it few steps to adjust volume, the WiFi works but not as well with a hotspot (that may be my phone's issue, it does not have a timer or reminders(yet)). But at $199 - it was definitely worth it for us.

Matthew this was a really good review. Thanks for doing it the way you did. I’ve been kicking myself for not pre-ordering one and I had plans to order one pretty soon. But now I think I’m gonna hold off. The main thing that I wanted the rabbit for was to teach it how to do things within the applications I use for work. And several of them are not going to be Widely known or popular applications. So when you show the four apps or services that it works with now and it doesn’t seem to work very well with them, that kind of makes me doubt how easy and well it’s gonna work with apps that I want to teach it to use. so I’m sure you’re planning this already, but I would love to see a review of you teaching it to use apps that we would use in business, like CRM’s databases spreadsheets services like DocuSign things like that. If the rabbit could get to the point where it was easy to teach how to do certain activities and basically automated, I would be thrilled. That’s what I thought it was going to be out of the box. Again, thanks for a great review. I really appreciate it and enjoy your channel.

    Just a comment:
I asked the same questions to Microsoft Copilot on my android phone as you did on the Rabbit R1 and Copilot gave also good and correct answers, although maybe a second slower.
I would still prefer an app on my phone, which I carry around all the time. Or as an alternative: an app on my smartwatch.

So maybe I missed it, but I am trying to figure out why this thing needs to be its own device. What can this do that the Chat GPT app cannot? And does that justify a whole separate device? Other reviewers also complained on the battery life. The OS needs tuning, like several other areas of the software. The rate of resolving the issues to coming say 6 months determines how succesfull this device will become. On top of expanding new functionality.
