- I didn’t like the standard way of removing & installing bits on my DEWALT drywall cutout tool ... so I came up with my own (faster and better) way. I guarantee you’ll like this way better than using the plastic collar at the top of the tool ! I also tell you how you can change the collet so you can use smaller Dremel style bits.

Exactly what I was looking for! So simple and effective. Thank you sincerely!
You’re welcome bro 👍
Dude, you rock. I picked up on these (corded though) at the thrift store about 2 years ago and never used it until today. I couldn't figure out how to change the bit because, like you, the directions weren't working for me. But, you solved my problem. Thanks.
Glad to help ! Consider subscribing if you haven't already. I do mostly car videos but sometimes I do home repair and tool stuff too. :D
This video answered all my questions about installing and removing the bit.
Awesome 👍
Thanks for the intel bro, just found your vid while researching before purchasing one :)
Thanks. It’s a good tool once you figure out how to change the bits lol
Hell yeah, thanks, your video is the best I've found too. I figured a wrench would work but they specifically say it's a tool free mechanism so i thought I was doing it wrong.
Yeah it’s tool free in theory. If you have hands as strong as Hulk Hogan lol
Perfect , you showed my what I need to know ...... Thank you !
You’re welcome 👍
Thanks man. Pick one of these up and a bundle used. That'll ever use it but I was messing with it the other day trying to see what bits would fit it. Spent about 5 minutes trying to figure out how to get the stupid bit to tighten up or loosen up. Then have up and just threw it in a drawer.
No problem bro 👍
Thanks dude. I couldn't get it to work. I'm good now, thanks again.
You’re welcome bro 👍 If you haven’t already consider subscribing. I’ve got Lots of fun, car and home repair videos.
It’s a 5/8” wrench. Your welcome everyone.
👍
Man thanks simple instructions and no bullshit instructions thanks

Great video 😊💪
Thanks bro 👍
Good stuff, thanks dude.
You’re welcome 👍💯
Thanks for that that works a lot better
You’re welcome 👍
THanks for sharing this. As it turns out I cranked that cover nut ALL THE WAY off and still the tool would not let go of the bit. I finally got a vice grip and yanked it out. I Hate those finger things which force you into hand contortions. My warranty is over so I am stuck., BUt Thanks.
Wow that bit must have been on there for a while. Yeah those finger things are terrible. Lol
Thank you ..... great idea.
You’re welcome 👍
You rock. Thanks!!

I wasted quite some Time be fore to find your video
No problem bro 👍
What size Is the drill bit that you put on it?
Good shit 🅱️👌🏻👌🏻🙏🏻 I couldn’t figure this sht out lol
Cool, glad it worked for you 👍
Thx for the insight !
No problem 👍
Right on man!! Thanks 😊
You’re welcome 👍
Thank you boss good vid
You’re welcome 👍
Any recommendations for getting a bit that sheared off out and is stuck inside?
Once you have loosened it all the way, I believe the bit should slide out. Have you loosened it yet?
It comes with 2 bits which one is for the doors /window and which one is for the box
Thank you very much.
You’re welcome 👍
This video works
Awesome 👍
Tank you bro 😎
You’re welcome 👍
This is the same way I do it. I don't understand why it doesn't just come with an open end wrench like a Dremel.
That would have made more sense lol
yeah brudda, thank you!!
You’re welcome brudda 👍
Can this tool be used like a Dremel?
Yeah you could technically. If you buy a collet that fits the dremel attachments. However I would recommend buying a real dremel. This thing is way more powerful. A dremel has a variable control… is easier to control and lighter. I have a dremel and trust me, it’s worth the money.
Yes!
thanks!
You’re welcome 👍
🔥🔥🔥
👍💯
Thanks

Wonder if you have a bunch of crap built up in the threads.
Keep them coming MJ.
IDK, I’ve only used that one a few times. I’m thinking the plastic part on the tool is a poor design. You can’t tighten it that much either with just the plastic ; there is no mechanical advantage. It’s like trying to tighten or loosen a bolt with just your fingers lol
@@MJ100k Gotcha
Thank you, I almost sent it in for repair as I didn't notice the lower black lock button. Can't believe that I had to youtube how to tighten a bit, but I'm glad that I did. Stupid design.
Don’t feel bad, a lot of people had some trouble with this design.... including me lol
😂😂😂😂😂ya I liked the video.
Cool 😎

Comments from Brasil.
Cool ! ☀😄
I still can't figure it out, I bought roto zip xbits and the bits seem to be thicker than the receptacle so don't fit.
what a counterintuitive system!
The bit you bought must be too big. Once you loosen and spin off the metal collar, there is a piece inside called the collet. Collets come in different sizes. The collet size has to match the bit size that you have. If they match, the bit will slide into the collet easily. You can take the collet with you to Lowes/Home depot or wherever you get your tools, so you can make sure to get the right size bit next time. Or you could buy a bigger collet as well. There are only like three different sizes that will fit the tool I believe. You probably just got a bit one size bigger than your collet. Hope that helps 👍
@@MJ100k Thank u much buddy
I too had this problem. You have to buy the rotozip collet kit, part # CN1 at home depot or lowes. It comes with 3 size collets and a nut. The nut WILL NOT work on the dewalt as its design for the rotozip tool but the collets will work. One of them is 5/32 size which fit the rotozip bits you and I got. The other 2 are i think the same size that come with the dewalt tool.
@@jediagh Thank u buddy.
👌
😎✌🏼
Adding steps?
Some people (including me) find it difficult to remove the bit using only hand strength.
I just fixed mine. Lol
Awesome ! 👍
This is definitely one of the stupidest things Dewalt ever did. I recently bought this tool and just couldn’t believe that they expect you to change the bit that stupid way. But yes , they did. I use Dewalt for just about everything for decades. Love the brand , this is just a freak of nature mishap for Dewalt.
Yeah - I got a lot of DEWALT stuff. They have good tools. This one is just a little tricky till you learn the secret lol
I’m about to throw it in the trash, that’s what I’m gonna do! 😭
Why ? You still can’t get the bit out ?
@@MJ100k I cat get it in or even to turn on! 😞
Is the new bit too big ? There is a piece inside called a collet. You’ll see it if you screw the nut all the way off. The collet and bit must match up or the bit won’t fit. You can by different a different size collet or a different size bit. Once you get the right size collet / bit… the bit will slide right in. As far as getting it to turn on …. idk? Is your battery charged ?
@@MJ100k well dang!! I got this as a gift but now I’m thinking I should’ve asked for a router instead! I’ll keep trying though! I’ve never had so much trouble with a tool lol!
Well if your still having trouble tomorrow; I would take it to Lowe’s or Home Depot and just ask for someone to show you how to get it setup. They may be able to see if you need a different collet or bit. You’ll get it figured out 👍
Get to the point faster next video
😬😂🤣🤣
Soooo... your video is, hey all, instead of learning to propery using the tool free adjustment, just use tools? Okay. But for reals, just read the directions. NO TOOLS NEEDED. Works 100% of the time if you aren't an idiot.
I know how to use the tools free adjustment and I described how to do it that way in the video. The problem is, doing it that way gives you very little mechanical advantage/leverage. It’s essentially like trying to loosen a bolt with just your bare hands. If the bolt isn’t too tight it’s easy. If it’s snug, or tight, it very difficult. It’s much easier and faster to just use a tool. It’s not like most guys don’t have an adjustable wrench... why not use it if it makes life easier ?
@@MJ100k I have NEVER had issues removing or adding the bits when it wasn't MY FAULT. This video showed up on my youtube because I just ordered a new set of bits. Honestly, NO TOOLS ARE EVER NEEDED IF YOU SIMPLY FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS.
There are two factors you are not taking into account. 1. Since you are removing and installing the bit on your tool... each time you tighten it to a torque that YOU have applied. Therefore YOU will be able to remove it. Some of the people who watch this video may be trying to remove the bit on tools that are not their tools ie work tools or friends tools. Therefore: it is not incomprehensible that it may be to tight for them to remove without help from a wrench. 2. Not everyone has the same amount of hand strength that you do. Some people who use this tool may be elderly, female, or just have smaller hands like I do. You assume that what works for you should work for the entire population. Again, the built in method for removing the bit provides no mechanical advantage. Therefore it stands to reason that a portion of the population may find it difficult to remove the bit without the added leverage of a wrench.
@@gsweater5544 I followed the directions and, as an older woman with arthritis, I didn't have the strength to make it tight. This video helped me. Just saying.
I’m a middle aged man and it was hard for me too lol
Thanks
No problem 👍
