    To answer the diode mode confusion>
    I believe it may have different voltage settings ?
    If thats the case, most handheld millimeters use around 2 or 2.2v in diode mode. Some bench millimeters use higher or lower voltage.
    That may explain weird voltage drop readings you get. So if you are able to change it, its a good thing.

    It's a shame the Lavolta power supply is no longer available. I keep looking all over for a similar one. There are plenty of 'linear power supplies' on offer but most of them are switching power supplies and the listings are false. Take one look at the unit weight and you know there is no transformer in them.

    • @ninsiimachristine
      @ninsiimachristine Před měsícem +2

      I need some explanation here: Are switching power supplies the one with a transformer inside or ones without transformer?

      I think it is also important when it comes to other electronics

    • @JustInspiredKent
      @JustInspiredKent Před měsícem +1

      @@ninsiimachristine The switching ones don't have a big transformer so they are generally less heavy. I just got a UNI-T UTP3315TFL-II that a comment here recommended and so far I'm very happy with it. It's linear (transformer) and has a 4-digit display so the milliamp reading is more precise. It's only 5A but for most things that will be enough for my workbench. The price was pretty good too.

I have seen other similar channels giving up quite easily and saying it can’t be repair.attitude ( coming from heritage) is separating you from others by far. Fixing a dram module with a “proper calibrated wire” instead of just buy another dram is a perfect example.( or cleaning a micro push button, instead of swapping it).this is what I am learning indirectly from you: never give up.

    Does the H8 have some lag or delay, especially LAG in the video.
    I would appreciate, next time you show thermal imagers to do a pan left and right at various speeds so we can judge the response time and sustained frame rates of the video.
    Hikvision makes fast thermal imagers. I just bought the Hikvision DS-2TP21B-6AVF/W (-20c - 120c) for $150 shipped, brand new unit. And it is 25fps sustained with very quick response. It is a 160x120 IR sensor but the image it produces on the 640x480 IPS 3.5" screen is comparable to 320x240, it is very clear and sharp. The unit feels well built and professional.
    The Hikvision thermal units behave and work like their IP cameras. Feed can be RTSP to vlc, their NVR surveillance apps, any IP camera phone viewr app can view video from their units, just like a normal IP camera. Many other parameters can be adjusted from their IVMS software which are not present on the handheld unit itself. Very cool.

    4:12 is your computer a laptop without ground? Or is the soldering iron not grounded?
    The issue has to be one of the two, and afaik, weller would ground the tip of the iron.
    4:30 Sorin, they use a transformer inside. It's the common mode voltage leaking through the capacity of the transformer windings. But again, if they ground the tip, which even cheap irons do, that shouldn't be an issue.
    So either your unit is defective (but just measure continuity from tip to Gnd contact of AC plug) or it's your PC/Laptop. Or your entire house doesn't have Gnd (if the building is old).
