The Congress has accused the Prime Minister of "Hate Speech and Lies" after a speech by Modi in Rajasthan cited Manmohan Singh to claim that the Congerss wanted to redistribute wealth to "Muslims... those who produce more children..". In another part of the speech the PM also references "intruders/infiltrators". The Congress says both its party manifesto and former PM Manmohan Singh's speech have been quoted inaccurately and the reference to Muslims amounts to "hate speech"

Barkha, as a third person after just hearing the pm speech it looks like inflammatory speech. But when I watched the debate and saw in the context the speech made then it looks a valid speech in the context of Congress tone. Where the PM emphasise that Congress is trying to get Muslims and minority votes, while BJP is trying to get everyone who is deprived of wealth should benefit.
That's my conclusion as a educated sensible citizen. Where I support that every Indian who ever it is should have access to benefits based on his financial status and not based on caste and religion. As that becomes vote bank politics which has been used by Congress for 70 years and still these people are backward. So things have to be changed.

To Sanjay Jha's point on Sachar Commission report - we can agree on the problem, but disagree on the solution. Focusing on giving quality education instead of religious education via madrasas, encouraging family planning to have smaller families are progressive ways to achieve social equity for muslims. Redistributing wealth, and expanding quota system are regressive approaches for social equity in the 21st century.
The ex PM' s speech certainly leaves a doubt here. But, so what! The Sachar committee report was quite clear about the priorities of the nation.

The congress party doesn’t actually intend to do any redistribution, they just want a certain sections to believe they will and vote for them. That’s why they are hiding behind the ambiguities by half stating it in Manifesto and the rest verbally. If they really are so worried about the poor being left out they would have said the redistribution will be done based on economic status irrespective of caste and religion but they clearly mentioned it will be done based on caste and religion because all they want is certain castes and religion folks to foolishly believe they might be the beneficiaries and vote for them.
Anyone with basic common sense will know that they won’t be able to do any such thing and this is not how you solve inequality. Even if we distribute the current wealth equally among all the citizens we will eventually end up being in a more or less similar scenario in the future just because all people are not equal in terms of their education, intelligence levels, spending habits and many such common things.
The Congress has never been out of power this long and think they are entitled to be power. In its desperation they are trying to create a class war. Mr Rahul Gandhi is no pappu he is sinster, evil and vicious. Forget being in government, the currrent Congress doesn’t deserve to be in opposition as well.

Yes, the Muslim birthrate is higher, but not that much higher to get paranoid. The rate for both communities keeps falling - for economic reasons.

To saba: This speech was at NDC( national develoment council) addressing CM's of all states,as PM of India on 6 dec,2006.
Modi speech in rajasthan was as a pracharak of bjp and not as PM.
If cong questions why bjp wants 400 seats and alleges bjp will change the constitution and democracy will not exist etc. and no elections will be held without any basis,it is natural that bjp will also twist the cong narrative.
