@@sammiegarrett549 Yep, and in my city, it was usually .75 cents to ride with .10 cent transfers, as I recall. By the mid-ish 90's they started taking bills like a vending machine.
Longest minute and twenty-six seconds ever, but this is one of my favorite comedies. I always love how when you have a small finite amount of time and God throws everything at you but, the kitchen sink.
why oh why does it always happen that the person in front of you in line at a grocery store takes ultra long just when you are running late to something that is do or die?
Bill Murray: Look, I’ll pay his fare! Philip Bosco: Fine! Do you have exact change? Bill Murray: You better get some help! You’re becoming Ralph Kramdens’ evil twin!
And this is one of the best scenes in this movies hats off to The bus driver Phil Bosco , he was hilarious and for all of you transit bus fans the seats on the 1976 Flxible were definitely modified for this movie. these types buses had face to face window seats.
I knew a bus driver like this before so I made up a excuse.. *"..listen buds I been at a office party and I had a couple drinks and I left my car at work so I won't get busted for drinking and driving. And you're lucky to be my designated driver tonight.. "*
He works for the City so i dont blame him for wanting exact change. Also he cant be bribed with is nice to see from a city employee. But yeah talk about a very stressful situation when you are on the run from the law.
Forget King Kong. A whole movie about a perfect heist but not being able to get to the airport is the most New York thing ever.
I can watch this movie a thousand times over and it still makes me nervous that they might not get away.
Same. Every time I watch it, I am sure they're not gonna make it.
Same!! Every time!!!
So back then to ride the bus. It was either coins or nothing?. I thought that type of farBox could use the dollar bills 💸

"You can close the Door. He's waiting for another bus."
31 years later this scene always cracks me up 😂
My favorite Bill Murray´s movie... Groundhug day is second place.
The camerawork in that last bit was great, staying put as the bus takes off.
this is me, except every single time i checkout at the grocery store. everytime
My dad was a city bus mechanic in Queens for years. He knew many bus drivers. None like this guy!
"You can't sit! Not until you"ve paid the fare"!! RIP to Phil Bosco...
Fantastic movie! One of my absolute fav comedies!!!
Guitar guy is the greatest thing in the movie.
Back then I’m surprised she didn’t write a check. Wow so much tension for just trying to get change.
This was bill murrys first time as director / producer
one of my favorites
This is the only film he directed, or co-directed.
@@sha11235 WOW I didn't know!
Probably the most stressful scene in movie history if you ask me 😅😅😅
under rated classic :)
After Bill Murray bumped into the cop. I decided I'm buying this.
I love how dude gets the ladder for the dacaf and only uses one step
Perfect little addition to the scene.
Such a greatly directed movie. That is a scene à la Hitchcock. It has us biting our fingernails.
It certainly is, i also love the wordplay with the title of the film.
why oh why does it always happen that the person in front of you in line at a grocery store takes ultra long just when you are running late to something that is do or die?
Or driving somewhere and your late.
Its the tragedy of life!
Just finished watching it, its 3:36am
That face.
If he could, he'd strangle her in that store with his bare hands 😂
You can feel the time just ticking away, lol! >_< I hope Randy is ok nowadays.
Bill Murray: Look, I’ll pay his fare!
Philip Bosco: Fine! Do you have exact change?
Bill Murray: You better get some help! You’re becoming Ralph Kramdens’ evil twin!
I always lose it when he drops the coin roll, lmao

RIP Philip Bosco
It broke me last night discovering the news of his passing. I watched this clip immediately
I love this movie. The second the latter comes up and he could have easily reached for the can kills me.
He was told he had to buy something to get change, but never did.
11 people had to buy something anyway.
That is actually a REALLY suspenseful scene! Brilliant
I've always loved that cashier lol
"I can do!"
Same guy from Fargo.
"Come on, he's waiting for another bus"! OMG
just keep the change, dammit
That's me at every check out lane in wal-mart! THEY SUCK!!!
I love the roll of pennies.
I knew a bus driver like this before so I made up a excuse..

"Behind the white line" ROTFL
"I look back there every night friend.
Thats why I conduct my own affairs in a clean and hygienic fashion ."
RIP to Philip Bosco.
The only risk to a suspension of disbelief is that the bus driver arrived at least 2 minutes prior to the scheduled stop departure time.
The beginning of the movie is the best part with the bank robbery, but still the movie is great
What's that smell? Was her character unfamiliar with all public transportation in NYC?
Surreal movie.
I want to see the whole movie.
He works for the City so i dont blame him for wanting exact change.
Also he cant be bribed with is nice to see from a city employee.
But yeah talk about a very stressful situation when you are on the run from the law.
I wish we could smoke indoors nowadays. Thanks, Bill Clinton.
Just like in Fargo it would be so much better if they would just take the damn bribe!
Glad real bud driver's wouldn't give a crap how much you gave them, long as you pay the fare.
It’s now Apple Pay, Google pay, contact free pay to ride the Bus in NYC.
A quarter to play Miss PAC man today exact change in pennies
bill's best movie imo 😁😄
As we speak there slow people takin they sweet ass time getting on the bus and I'm tryin to get to work
What type of bus company/city doesn't have a set full of change lol
I loved it when geena said what's that smell
Used wine.
LOL
thank god we have bill murray!! i pray to god that we keep safe our national treasure!!!
Very suspense
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Ben Stern as the bus driver?
LOL
Funny ass scene
1:45 98 to 62 who talks like that, wtf lol.
98 to 62
I can do!
I would die of laugh, lol
BILL MURRAY IS A GOD...
the bus driver is annoying, not funny. Bad acting.
+nlu92usc You are missing the point of the scene. It's all irony. They are in a rush and they get a driver who is by the book old school.
