  • Heading to Europe soon? Well, you may have to pay up.
    With 2024 forecasted to be a record-breaking year for air travel, some of the world's most popular tourist destinations are introducing paywall tactics.
    Global’s Redmond Shannon takes us to Venice, where in a global first, the city has begun charging day-trippers for their visit, as tensions grow over fears of so-called "over-tourism.”

    I live in New Orleans and i often say to myself that i feel like i live in an amusement park. I just thank God that the tourists pretty much stay in the downtown area.

    What is the appeal of going to a place overrun by tourists.
    These look like "cruise ship" people.

    Your crime rate and cost of visitation will drive tourism away.

      I spoke to Police (Australia) Queensland. Nobody has to enroll to vote. If you do, you play by their rules, if you don’t, well, you never agreed to play by their rules.
      You can never be fined, or, anything really…
      If it was the start of the world & there are 10 people, would you enroll to vote… eh…

    It's been nearly a lifetime since beleaguered Venetians added _hyperturistificazione_ to their vocabulary.
    (Almost more of a sentence than a word, really. English: _overtourism.)_

    Since when did any of these places want to refuse big tourism money? That's the foundation of their prospering economy. Really, these governments are trying to condition people to accept QR codes, internal borders and taxes for domestic travel.

      @BornKafir Před 18 dny

      @@Ruckus911 The diploma mill attending students are not here with investment. Our current system allowed so-called tourists to just stay here and live off our system. File a false case and get permanent residence as an asylum seeker.
      Charge a huge premium so only those who can afford to come would show up. Filter out the would-be freeloaders. Canada is a safe and rich country. Investment will continue to pour in as long as we have industry and we continue to be a Western liberal democracy.
