    That is a great solution for the disconnect. I've the JKS ones and they so work great.
    But as to 'used' part upgrades, thete are great things to be had dirt cheap. I picked up a brand new Rubicon Recon suspension for $100 - the guy had a mopar lift put on his as soon as it arrived at the dealership. It gave me a 2.5" lift on my 2 door sport s. $60 for the longer control arms and I still spent less than $200 for a nice upgrade.

    I would never argue that a upgraded rubicon is a better than stock jeep, but I never made the jump and always get base sports and have no issues. I will say , MT tires or something similar is a huge upgrade over the HT/AT stock tires. But... I am still running my cheapies on my jl and keep up with everyone other than in the bogs. My point, stock sport is sooooo good anyhow so this channel is my jam.

    I considered that route but when I happened across the Apex Autolynx being mentioned in Jan of ‘21, I was one of the first to get them installed. Disconnect with the turn of a knob on the top of the end links and reconnect within 15secs and drive. For $400, they’re my favorite mod. No crawling in the dirt and no electric to run. They just replace your end links. Yeah, I’m a fanboy now. lol

    • @wayalife
      @wayalife  Před 2 lety +1

      LOL - as I state in the video, there are LOTS of aftermarket options available. For our purposes, we're trying to keep Pippi as stock as possible and that any mods we do make are done with budget in mind. $140 for a factory swaybar disco is that and we love it. Of course, with just a little more money, I can make it work off the air compressor I do plan on installing and it would work with a push of a button too.

      @@wayalife Oh I hear you. Keep the ideas coming! What you did here was great.
      When I was looking into it, I had no idea a JK sway bar disconnect would work. The few used JL units online were $400 on up. I’d have gone the Evo mod, like you, so a bit more $ to get that in there too. The Autolynx just peaked my curiosity and they ended up being the flashiest pieces on my Jeep.
      For the most part, I like to keep mine modded with stock parts too. That way, if I break a part far from home…they’re usually easier to come by to get going again.

    Hmm, here's a sway bar disconnect question. I recently picked up a set of JKS Quicker Disconnects to put on my stock JK. The install should be no issue, but I have heard reports that stock drivers might suffer popped tires when using them. Some events have happened because of the sway bar being lifted out of the way. For that, it is recommended to keep the sway bar horizontal. But there are also reports of the studs the links fit over popping tires. Any ideas of ways to prevent that, or might your trick with the steering stops for rubbing tires help?

    • @wayalife
      @wayalife  Před rokem

      If you run big tires on wheels with too much back spacing like you really shouldn't, yeah, your sidewalls WILL catch on the storage studs and can cause a failure.
