I love the full screen experience here and that it has a headphonene jack! The squared off design and symmetrical front bezels look really good. The camera performance seems to have completely taken a, back seat here. But the gaming performance now that is next level! Less than 1 percent throttling is truly remarkable. Hopefully the global release of this will have a more stable firmware though.
Thank you for another extensive detailed review Sir Chris✌✌👍
Thanks for watching, since this is the prerelease firmware it does have a few bugs to be ironed once they do, it's going to be the best gaming phone i think. Yes the cameras are always taking a back seat with Redmagic I do hope at least they improve them a bit more.
@@Techtablets Hi Chris, please I just want to know whether you will take a look at the Nubia Z50. Because if I remember correctly there were a lot of words from them about this phone bringing a lot of new things.
Boxy-type phones have a comeback! As it is not a norm these days aesthetics wise. Nice to see Red Magic do this. Amazing review Chris!❤️ As always.
Xperia was ALWAYS.
@@amllemans nobody knows about Xperias' existence
Thanks for watching! Great to see them come out with this Xperia like design.
The design is amazing, i wish there are smaller phones that have the same approach of focusing on the display and body design, everything about this phone screams top tech.
6.8 is really easy to get used to man. If you can I’d just get this phone as a secondary phone with an iPhone. I carry around a 14pm for the cameras and iMessage /FaceTime, and soon to be this for gaming!!
@@TechReviewTom I think with this phone you become a Big fan of red magic
great Video man, Thank you
I think i will wait for full reviews. Love what they did with the full screen!
This review is already pretty full...
@@ad_fletch not quite. The retail version is scheduled to be released in February i think, and unless they are keeping the software like that and not push any updates to fix before or just after release, then it's rather disappointing 😔
Expect for the firmware I covered a lot. I'm sure it will be fix up soon.
Finally a phone that has a big screen and no cutout or notch and the display is flat.
My favorite phone was the Mate 20X. The only thing that bothered me was the notch.
Sold it after 3 years of use for a S22 Ultra.
love the S22 Ultra but the edges and cutout bother me. Dont use the pen alot.
So im selling my s22 Ultra to switch to this beast.
The battery size, rgb and the fullscreen experience convinced me!
Thanks for the video m8!
Me too i loved the big screen of Huawei mate 20X was considering that phone until US banned it
Just grabbed this. Thanks for the info. It's a crazy phone, what an absolute beast.
best and most detailed review i saw for this phone. thanks.
best look from red magic, just really love it, the flat screen and the under screen camera (at least there is still front camera), the back i love it more
Popup would be better
Thanks as always for the review Chris. I have no interest in gaming smartphones but this does look like a very compelling option, once the bugs you pointed out are fixed.
Price is very competitive here in EU too! The matte 12/256 option is 634€ from the official site, very impressed
Yes great price on this one and those bugs will be fixed then it will be great for gamers.
Considering it doesn't have SD card I can't find that space as enough. I think is a great device but as a gaming phone it really should have an SD card.
It's the first time I feel sad not buying a device. I like it a lot but without an SD card for my ROMs etc I don't see how I can use it.
Excellent review again Chris.
Thanks for watching.
Thanks for introducing these beasts😊
My pleasure 😊
God damn you're fast!!! Love it 🤣
0:51 what a beautiful scenery behind omg.
Good Video. Awesome Review. Thanks Sir ❤️ Sir...
Looks good indeed. Where did you obtain the phone from? Your usual place, tradingshenzen? Thanks
This looks excellent.
Great review and great phone
Hii, I watched also other tests of RM8/pro, it seems real best and one of the most powerful smartphone in history!! Greetss.
TRULY A MASTERPIECE ESPECIALLY THE ALL DISPLAY
Good review! But can i ask a question if there is tap to sleep and wake?
I wish the Pro+ with 165w power was coming to the UK, unfortunately it's illegal lol so we're left with the "void" variant with 65w
You probably one of fastest person to review it!
Thanks for this. Does the phone have native call recording???
Looks awesome 🔥🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️
0:25 what cam/smartphone do you use in your studio, the quality is awesome
I believe you have the Pro+ model with a 5000 mAh battery and 165W charging. The regular Pro version has a 6000 mAh battery but with 80W charging and less RAM.
I wish Mobile phone brands release a truly dedicated mobile gaming phone size between a normal mobile phone and a tablet Like the size of LENOVO PHABLET with a full screen and camera place on the upper left conner and of course with a gaming specs and cooling system and expandable storage :) i just wish that will be perfect
When you open Nova launcher go to its settings you will see on the top the option for setting it as a default launcher but the question is if enable third party launcher dose the navigation gastuers with it or not,
Another point is widevine level security sometimes it support HD playback but you have to open the apps like Netflix and see from its settings if it support HDR or Dolby vision
I like mentioning the 3.5 headphones port as it is important and it's position
Last point which is the most important point for gaming phone is for PUBG mobile global version for supporting 90 fps or not which is a frustrating issue as many of us including me bought some gaming phones and doesn't support 90 fps on PUBG mobile global version
You can find it inside PUBG settings under graphics after setting smooth graphics under it the frame rate
Low, medium, high, extreme and last 90 FPS
Thank you again and I wish if you address these points as it critical for purchasing future phone
GSMarena mentioned that the phone right now doesn't support high refresh rate in many games.
@@khaler21 What a shame from PUBG as usual with their lack of support android gaming phones, that's why I want as many as it can make CZcamsrs raise this issue so maybe PUBG mobile start working and also phone companies address this with PUBG for their phones.
Thank you for sharing this information
any updates on this phone on the fireware updates and more importantly, does it support e-sim or not?
also what watch are you wearing?
Great review, how audible is the fan on max RPM?
Not much a tiny whine, but you can hear it.
amazing phone coming in at a very respectable price point, Its definitely a consideration for my next phone.
Love the design. Reminds me of the Razer Phone
they shouldve used pop up camera since it isnt waterproof anyway. ir blaster is welcome, atleast 1500nits and quad hd screen with 500ppi,and latest gorilla glass would be great
Stylish design ✅
Perfect full screen ✅
Amazing performance ✅
This is the go to gaming smartphone of 2023 for sure!
I want to check with you on redmagic 8 pro, what are the Bluetooth audio codecs supported by redmagic 8 Pro? Will the Mfg give future Android OS releases, security patches?? Please kindly reply, thank you.
question to ask if I wanted to get a red magic 8 pro. in the void color unlocked for the usa and i live in utah would it be able to work on any phone carriers. or is it worth it to go to a gaming phone to play games on. and like the display battery life and other things a gaming phone can do.
Will you do a giveaway with this phone soon? It'd be great ngl
No giveaways now sorry
Hey Chris, can you test if your unit shows green tint on the selfie display when you open youtube on darkmode with low brightness?
Could you plug in an external mic and use it to record audio through the headphone jack? I feel like that’s the solution. I’m also not looking at this phone for it’s camera capabilities, that’s like getting a gaming pc and being mad when the front facing camera isn’t 4k lol.
What pissed me of about Gaming Phones are that they stopped giving updates after a year.
Perfect 🔥 💪

Great review. It's a shame such a beautiful and Powerful phone doesn't have desktop mode similar to Motorola and Dex on Samsung then you truly have a portable computer in your pocket
im glad it shows no e-sims since i swap out sim cards back and forth on my phones which is a hassle with e-sims, on the gsm arena website it says that the red magic 8 pro is 1300 nits (peak)
Without those bugs and closing apps issues, this phones is amazing, the body of the phone reminds me of Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus, wish this Redmagic 8 Pro came with stylus pen, it would be awesome phone 😂🤣
Would install nova launcher immediately on this.
@@trinajska pretty sure it gives you a stock android launcher option too in the setting, so no need for nova launcher, but i might be wrong so dont quote me on that 😂
@@trinajska nova launcher is so overrated. There are way better launchers out there
@@vervetech9395 can you recommend some? Or one
@@just2pi Smart Launcher, Microsoft Launcher
More phones need to do udc it looks so good without a cutout I dont take selfies often so i dont really care about the quality
In one word: AWESOME! ...I bought the void top version ❤️
Good choice!
Chris, did you manage to test the USB C video out? Does it have the desktop mode like Samsung DEX like the previous 7s Pro had???
Good question. If it does I'm gonna get it.
@@DerrickBest It does. GSMARENA's review just posted before on their website confirms it.
Nice 👍
Thanks ✌
Really hope phone comes to europe market and is easy to get, however it lacks in camera quality extremely, hope some gcam comes to it
Hi. Do you have a link where we can order that? I can't find one here in canada. 😞
The hardware is absolutely superb, just need to fix the bugs within the UI. Can't say I'm surprised that it has all these weird issues though.
Which are
Any news on the 5G and 4 G bands on the international version? wondering if it works on Canadian networks
Does look very impressive, especially with that cooling and the price tag, these android gaming phone are getting seriously insane on performance. I actually just recently bought a Lenovo legion Y70 gaming phone with SD Gen 1 and 144hz OLED display for the absolutely bonkers price of $340/£280 brand new shipped (Aliexpress) and the performance on it has also been amazing so far. To my surprise the performance of ZUI and the cameras and speakers are actually pretty damn good too. It also supports widevine L1, Netflix & NFC payments.
Performance is even better bc 144Hz 😼 How did you get this 📱 that cheap?
I think Legion y70 also good device, too.
@@yoshicliffmountain7163 Yeah amazing device for the price, i love mine, really surprised me how good it is.
@@jarekzahary Yeah its unreal man, so smooth. I picked up on aliexpress from a store called 'Lenovo Online Store'.
@@corsinivideos when? Why so cheap? Now 256GB is for more than 500 bucks 💵 U got 128gb only? 🤣
Most issues of modern smartphones these days can be fixed by software. That is why I always buy phones that have great custom ROM support like Xiaomi.
I feel like this company is on the come up, xaomi was at one point poor with their software support. Companies develop at different rates.
Cool
Hey, are you based in the UK?
Top tier smartphone
Nope
With only 120Hz? 🤣
If red magic can have a proper camera system and with me changing their launcher to the stock Android, this phone would be so perfect.
Yep it'd be perfect with a price tag of 1200 USD. wait that's what Samsung and Apple are for.
Will this work with android auto? I got a 6s pro and it's a flip coin whether it works with AU or not
It's the only thing holding me back from an upgrade
flat rectangular display? hell yeah! actually as long as its rectangular even with curved screen its ok as long as they use latest gorilla glass for protection we dont need tempered glass for it.
Love this phone, but can't use third party launchers is absolutely fudging daft. I can't even operate without nova, lol.
Having headphone jack is great! Wish it had ad card slot too!
Nova is essential!
SD card is more essential.
Wow looks amazing, remind me the first Mi Mix
It does remind me of that Mi Mix!
I would love a tablet with this shape and bezels :)
Big screen gaming!
This is the phone for me ❤❤❤❤
Wow this such a beast not sure about back of it, but loving the front design of it.. nice video as always.
Beast with only 120Hz? 😅
@@jarekzahary only???
@@jarekzahary 120hz is more than enough lol.
@@fanban2926 yes ONLY! 120Hz is no longer impressive in 2k23
@@piyushKumar-vu1ts yeah, maybe when you stopped in time by at least two ✌️ years ago 🤣
Is the proximity sensor virtual?
I'm thunking of buying this phone. Would you still recommend it? Or wait for the new asus rog release or maybe the new red magic?
Still the fastest gaming phone around so yes. Bugs were also fixed.
@@Techtablets thank you. After that video and your reasonable and unbiased review, I'm subscribing first, and second, buying this phone next week.
nice seeing phones with underscreen camera, hope the more premium phones like galaxies or oppo adapt to this tech
Only the galaxy fold has it for now but it makes more sense there they have the backup of a normal selfie cam or the rear cameras using the screen as viewfinder for rear camera the udc on fold is far worse quality and a bit more visible than other brands they start off with a low mp camera too so that doesnt help and possibly the fold having the plastic layer ontop of the thin glass affects the quality a bit too.
I wish they would do it on the galaxy s24 though as I barely take selfies but they wont until its good enough quality which is likely never gonna happen because a screen cant be 100% transparent may need the patent to come real of the screen moving in some way to reveal the camera when using it
how do you get this phones so fast ? where to order it ?
Do you know roughly when the new ASUS ROG phone comes out?
Probably around august to october
reasons im getting this the performance, the power, the battery, the screen, cheaper than the rest.
those bugging issues? Is it just your phone or is it present on other phones too?
Damn thats going to be a dealbreaker if they dont fix those issues...
New patch has pretty much fixed it all, at least so far. It just came out today for me.
wow gorgeous
how long is the software support for his phone?
Does this phone support mhl/hdmi output?
i really wanted it but 4g and 5g support here in usa is always questionable. they dont have all usa bands. plus software are buggy and less optimized than samsung and apple
Its amazing how 1080p is considered low resolution nowadays when it was considered overkill just a few years ago when the HTC butterfly came out.
I remember that phone. I bought it. And so many said 720p was all we needed remember that.
Is the back camera good? because if the back is fine it could be worth it
Samples given in this review. It's okay but needs a lot of work.
Nice
I must say im impressed with the vivos battery life. 1300 mah less and still comparable reallife battery performance
The Rom is much better optimised with the Vivo and this makes a big difference
Is it 100% confirmed that the 16/512gb model has the 6000mah battery and the 65w fast charging? In China two of these released, the Redmagic 8 Pro and 8 Pro Plus; the Pro had a 6000mah battery and only up to 12/256gb and 80w charging (now down to 65w globally), whereas the Pro Plus had only a 5000mah battery but up to 16/512gb and 165w charging (weird that the Plus has smaller battery size, I know, but it was supposedly to accommodate the faster charging speed). I noticed at 13:50 that this is being marked as the Pro+, and that the battery was 4900mah. Yes, the battery reading can be inaccurate, but all the signs to me are pointing to Redmagic having shipped the Pro Plus with the 5000mah battery and 16/512gb, but knocking the fast charging down to 65w...
If they did drop it to 65w its likely that they only include a 65w charger but that it can support upto 165w if you buy the plug or he meant to say 165w
I'm less concerned about the charging speed and more concerned about the battery size 6000mah vs 5000mah. To me 65w and charging to full in less that like 40 minutes is more than enough, but I'd really like to have confirmation that the 16/512gb and 6000mah combo is exactly what comes with the Void.
Pls try to capture some pics with gcam and show us as a video pls
How is its headphone output quality? Thanks.
It’s good 👍
Can you please tell me if it has MEMC feature like in Xiaomi 11t pro and above
Really liking the design, but the fan(losing any water resistance) and the software(can't even change the default launcher) is a big no.
This is probably the best looking phone released from China. Better design, equal bezels and curve all over, better cooling, not too expensive.
Oh I forgot.....
Video out!!!
I actually really like the hardware but do I want the software?
Weird stutters in Genshin impact. Taki Udon reviewed this today and it's smooth as hell
Normally it is but the firmware is buggy. It will be fixed
does it support Google pay/payment services
I don't have the freezing on the 7s pro but I have the audio cutting in and out sinetimes
Does this phone have Bypass charging feature?
Yes it has. Check out 8:09 on the video. It is called charge seperation.
It seems to be a thing with Chinese manufacturers regarding restricting 3rd party launchers, that's why I've stopped buying their phones. As far as I'm concerned, if they are restricting customisation to that extent its no longer a proper Android phone
God stop hating the camera. The camera is good
Excellent performance and it doesn't look that bad. Gaming bling is more subtle than before which is an improvement. The cameras though.... really disappointing with the quality of all of them.
What did u expect? Good cameras?
It's a gaming phone. Camera work isn't it's thing.
@@SIPEROTHyeah

Do you know if it has wifi calling
What's next? A phone with the size of a tv?
