ABOUT ME:
Thanks for visiting my channel, I hope you enjoyed the video! I founded Caterpillar Cross Stitch in 2015 when I tried desperately for months to find a modern baby sampler my mum could stitch for new baby Felicity that would fit in with her simple, contemporary nursery. I love cross stitch, running, baking fruit cakes, drinking gin, eating salted caramel ice cream and most crafts!
See you soon and happy stitching! Sally x - Jak na to + styl
Best demo ever on the pin stitch! Thank you so much for this.

I've never heard of pin stitch. Thank you for my education!
Any time!
This was really very helpful. Thanks so much for the video!
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent tutorial! Thank you !
You are welcome!
Great tutorial--I never heard of the pin stitch. Wow, you never have to go to the back of your fabric to secure your thread . I had done a large cross stitch project on linene and it was a pain flipping it over securing the threads. . I haven't cross stitched in years (I do brazilian dimensial embroidery now) but I use to take one thread and loop it to secure it. I was told that wasn't proper becuase the thread fibers were not all going in the same direction.. I have been thinking of doing a another large x stitch project and this will definitely help!
Brilliant demo. Thank you ❤
My pleasure!
Wow! Game changer! THANK YOU!!!!!! 🙏

I have only just heard of pin stitch as a beginner just starting my third project. I saw one very short video by someone which was fine but this is amazing! Hugely informative and I LOVE the naughty pin stitch haha! Can't wait to try on my future my challenging projects. Off to find videos on evenweave and linen as I have two practice fabrics and they are SO small and not sure if I'll be able to do it! 😬😬😁😁👍👍
Thank you for watching, we're so pleased to hear that you found this helpful! Good luck testing out your fabrics :)
This is fantastic ... I've always wondered how to do confetti without running the thread behind . Thanks !
You’re welcome 😊
I have had to watch you 6-7 times on this video😅 I just couldn’t get it between different versions but I like the single pierce like you. I do naughty too once in awhile..than you so much! I love on CZcams that I can always repeat instruction if I need it. 🙏🏽🙋🏻♀️👍🏽Mia
Glad you liked it!
Very clearly explained I have looked at written charts and seen other demonstrations and came away still wondering if I was doing the stitch correctly and would it truly hold
I think I’ve got it ! Thank you

You're welcome!
That was a very good, clear and thorough video!!! Thank you very much for that 😊🧵🪡
Glad it was helpful!
Could you tell us about the stand holding your hoop and where we can purchase it? Thanks.
I understand how piercing the two intertwining threads of the strand makes it secure, but when you snip the thread so close to the point where it is pierced, doesn't that negate the effect of piercing it? Because the thread is no-longer held together by two intertwined lengths of cotton; it just ends, so isn't the pin stitch technically no-longer secure? I hope my question makes sense (it's hard to explain what I mean!)
Thanks for saving me loads of headaches! Now, I do not have to turn my 35" WIP over to secure the threads, start or finish!
So glad this helped!
Do you need to use a chenille needle when you pin stitch?
What hoop are you using please?
I love this video and have watched it more than once and learned so much! Unrelated question but what are you listening to in the background? I’d love to listen to it while stitching! :)
We're so pleased that the video has helped!
Very helpful! Thank you! Curios about your stand! Info please.
Thank you for watching. We will try and find out which frame was used
I'm about to start an 11-count on aida, using 3 strands. Would this work for that or would 3 strands be too bulky?
❤❤❤❤❤
You don’t seem to have any problem piercing your Aida. I struggle piercing AND trying to get my needle in the middle of the stitch. Can you offer any advice please? Also do you use a tapestry needle when you pierce? Thank you.
Do you pin stitch when ending your thread?
Thank you very much. Have a terrific week.
No…put your needle through the back and go under at least 3 stitches, check you haven’t gone through the front
Cut thread 😊
She shows how to end with a pin stitch in the video.
@@erinnclevinger345 oooo brilliant thank you
You say Pierce the thread. Do you mean going between the 2 threads or actually piercing one of the threads?
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
What frame and scissors are you using?
We're not sure what brand the Frame is that Marie is using or which scissors unfortunately but we do sell a selection on our website : www.caterpillarcrossstitch.com/collections/cross-stitch-scissors
Do you use pin stitch each time you changed colors?
thank you for watching!
Please turn your background music off when videoing.
Love this technique. Thanks for showing us.
Thanks for your feedback! You are so welcome :)
Very informative and helpful tutorial. What is the name of the pattern you show. It looks like a wolf, maybe. Also, what is the name of the designer, I really like her style of crochet. I look forward to your response. Thank you very much.
Thanks for watching! This was one of our subscription boxes, Howling Winter Wolf and designed by Emily Peacock :)
What needle do you use?
DMC branded size 24 needle.
If you work it from the back you can snip on the back and you won't see that little bit of a tail.
Thank you for the tip!
Thank you. The background music is distracting.
Thank you for the feedback 😊
❤@CaterpillarCrossStitch. I just subscribed to your channel this evening. Personally, I *love* the background music as it's very relaxing and flowing. Helps me absorb what you're teaching. Thank you for your videos. 🙂🦋🌷🦋🌷
Why use this instead of the loop?
It's down to personal preference :)
❤🛎️🦉💕
Thanks for watching!
needle no
Thank you for watching :)
Excellent demonstration and explanation but the background music is distracting and annoying...
Thank you for your feedback.
You're doing it way harder than it needs to be. Enter in one point, exit through another point right next to it and do a regular X. The thread is not going anywhere. For me this technique is about saving the thread and not having lots of ends on the back so the back looks neater than usual. With the amount of thread you're using, it's more of a waste & the X looks wonky (when in my technique you TRULY do not see that). It's a good explanation for someone who doesn't know how to do that at all, but I seriously believe it is more wasteful and time consuming than it needs to be. *UPD:* Knots in cross stitch are generally a huge no. I mean, it's your project, so do what you want, but it's the wrong technique for sure. You don't need a knot and you don't need a huge tail. It'll pin itself with the basic securing of the thread that I described earlier. I've been successfully doing that for years in all my projects.
Thank you for your feedback :)
Great tutorial! Thank you so much.
