    This major was soo hyped but as soon as Navi & Faze were out I genuinely lost interest. Nevertheless the Outsiders played like a beast & they absolutely deserved it.

      me too, as soon as vitality and faze got eliminated, I was watching less. then NaVi knocked out as well, did not even watch the grand finals, not really interested in watching teams without my fav players in it, but maybe that's just me.

      I live in SEA so the semis start at 1am here. Normally I stay up late to watch the majors, damn being tired for work, it's worth it. But for this one, once Faze and Navi were out, there was no reason to watch the games live anymore.

    The biggest thing about that C9 major in 2018 is that SK had to play a 5 hour quarterfinal series against fnatic the morning of the day they had to play the semi against c9. It would have been nice to see that matchup/major play out with the current schedule for majors with no more than 2 matches per day, so we don’t get a team having to play a quarter and a semi on the same day

      @@8roma8 Competitors, with their experience, probably know how to look for solutions to problems better than in the early days. Also, there are more upcoming competitors which would make it potentially more challenging than the early days - and there is also exponential economic growth to the game and to players value which could demand for higher expectations to win, hence increasing competitiveness to the game as a whole.

      Looking forward to when anubis is better optimised as it feels a lot more like there's a defined split between T and CT map control at the start of the round. Once mid is changed a bit I feel like it'll be the perfect mix of inferno and overpass :)

    This was Heroics major to win and they fucked it. As soon as it was 8-7 CT side I knew their T side couldn't perform to that level against Outsiders.
    They're simply unorganised and I'm unsure if it was Cadian's calls or not. But everytime they got a frag on a site they rotated to the other site. James gambled they would everytime and he was right.

    You're biased Thorin. It isn't because the big names bust out of these tournaments early more often than before that the level is weaker. It simply means the competitiveness is higher (i.e. the level is closer between Team #1 and Team #20 than it used to be).
    On the contrary, the level of the tier 2 teams got higher and no game is ever safe now. I don't think the game got too random. Why would it have? There wasn't a drastic change that consistently favors the lagging team to come back. What the best teams like Astralis, Navi did was viewed, copied and counter-stratd
    Contenders with less shining stars emerged with 5 consistent strong players + great team play (C9, Outsiders, Heroic, ENCE) and that is enough to challenge the best teams

    Unpopular opinion, I liked the major. 2 teams who’ve never won a major before, competing for one is amazing. Rip probably 99% of people’s diamond coin, but I’m happy for outsiders. The crowd though, it was either a massive W or L and there was no in between. The disrespect towards NAVI was unreal, and there was times during the grand final where it was almost completely silent. That’s just beyond disrespectful and I don’t think there should be another event in Rio for along time.

  • @KanyyeEasttt
    @KanyyeEasttt Před rokem +5

    Something you’re underplaying is how competitive the current era is
    The gap between “champion teams” and “average to good teams” has narrowed significantly this year - this is part of the further professionalisation of the scene and the wider understanding of what works and doesn’t
    It makes no sense to compare and contrast past major play off brackets considering this, as the scene was far less competitive back then
    Like, who cares if the big names didn’t make it? The big names always make it, it was refreshing to see other teams actually in the play offs
    At the end of the day it’s the quality of the CS rather than the name of the team - this major had some very good but not iconic or great quality games

    It just seems the top, veteran teams can't consistently perform anymore. G2 and astralis didn't even make it to the major. Faze, liquid, vitality didn't make playoffs, that's already 4 of the top 10 gone, including the top 3.
