  • Join us as we visit a historic town in the Poconos. Mauch Chunk was known for big money in the mid to late 1800s due to the canal system and railroad that brought coal to Philadelphia. It is also known for its part in the Molly Maguires' story. Nowadays, it is a artsy town with tons of outdoor activities including white water rafting, biking and hiking. Hope you add this to your list of places to visit in PA!

Dziękuję za ten świetny filmik ❤️. Mój pradziadek - Polak (Juliam Szymkiewicz) był górnikiem w Pensylwanii. Miło było usłyszeć, że i ty masz korzenie polskie. Pozdrowienia😀❤️

I totally understand😊 I thimk our winter is done for here, temperatures have been heating up into the high 70's here. This makes it nice to tear down my garden. We are in the process of moving from a rental home to a home we've just purchased. This new home will be our main place in between our travels in the RV.
We're following our dreams with owning a home with property and traveling.

Ohhh, high 70's...that sounds sooo nice!! Congrats on the new home purchase and good luck with the moving process. I know that can feel overwhelming at times, but exciting too! Great job following those dreams and making it happen!!

oh I loved hearing about your obsession about mining history. I am very much the same here in Australia. I come from a mining town & my family has always been in mining but I've broken that tradition. I was born in a famous little town called Broken Hill which was huge for lead, zinc & most of all for silver. I loved growing up there but it was only when I moved to the city that I realised just how tough the mining life must have been back in the early days. Poor conditions, terrible wages & such back breaking work. I'm always dragging my husband to old jails & mines, but it's only because that's what my parents did haha. Thankyou for making the videos, I love seeing more of the US that isn't the standard tourist stuff ☺

Thank you for the kind words, and for sharing your story! It is nice to know that others share my mining obsession! :) It really is fascinating how people survived those terrible conditions, and all of the young children who worked in mines, and the women who took in boarders to try to make ends meet. It was a tough life all around. Thanks for stopping by, all the way from Australia!

Who would've thought, right?! You gotta love history. We didn't see any fish but I'm sure they were in there. The closer we got to the water the colder the air got so we didn't linger! Thanks for watching Sandy!

Wow....you replied to my question. Thank you. It came to my email. I didn't think you would respond due to you being busy. You two are pretty good in being explainative (is that a word?......I don't think so.). Just a little thought, make sure you don't get to 'cheesy' and keep giving good information. However, a little levity is good :-). Keep trucking ! FYI......you might look at 'Purelivingforlife' here on CZcams. They are a young couple doing the homesteading off grid in northern Idaho and also are doing a good job is being 'explainative'. You two couples would get along and be friends I would adventure. I know where their property is and you two should do a joint CZcams informative channel. Just saying.

You are welcome! It is our intent to keep up with questions and comments, but sadly I know that some get lost on the way. Thank you for your input and feedback. We like to think of our channel as a place where people can learn something, and not really a vlog channel just about us; so it is nice to hear that you enjoy our style. Thank you for the heads up on the other couple. It is funny, because we used to have chickens, tap maple trees to make syrup and had a huge garden. I have always dreamed of a small homestead, and maybe once we settle down again; that homestead will become a reality. I will check out their channel - thank you! -Jen

If you haven't already...a great part of history in Pennsylvania is William Rittenhouse. The first paper mill in Rittenhouse Square. He is my 8th great grand father. His original name was Wilhelm Rittenhausen Ruddinghysun Van Mullheim. Would be so nice to hear your take on a visit!

Again, another great video about another very interesting area in PA. We visited a few years ago & did the tour of the prison & the train ride. Fascinating history of the Molly Maguires. My Dad was a coal miner as was his entire family. His family immigrated from England, from a coal mining area there to Shamokin. I still have family there, and despite the decline of the town, I love it. There are parts that are still interesting & beautiful to me. Thxs for sharing.

Is Jim Thorpe's grave still in Jim Thorpe, PA? When i was a little boy; my family traveled through Jim Thorpe on our way to Niagara, New York and Canada. When we passed through Jim Thorpe; I saw Jim's grave. I understand that some people sought to have his remains returned to Oklahoma but I don't know if that happened.

Thank you, we're not letting this move stress us at all. It's our last move. We ourc2hased 20 acres out in the country. We will be able to store our rig on the property when were not traveling. Our youngest son will stay on the property and take care of the place when were traveling.
I forgot to ask....is this your Anniversary? If so, Happy Anniversary 😊
