Real Haunted Mansion that inspired Disney World! Harry Packer Mansion | Jim Thorpe PA Travel Vlog

- I went on a weekend getaway trip to Jim Thorpe Pennsylvania to experience a piece of Disney history in my home state of PA! I visited the Harry Packer Mansion which was the architectural inspiration for Disney World's Haunted Mansion at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando Florida. I have wanted to visit this real haunted mansion ever since I found out it was in Pennsylvania and giving that I now have less than a month left before I move to Florida for my Disney college Program this was the perfect opportunity to finally go tour the mansion. I traveled to Jim Thorpe for the weekend with some of my Disney friends and we had fun checking out some other local attraction in jim thorpe such as the Muggle's Mug - a Harry Potter themed coffee shop as well as another coffee house, Curiosities Coffee and Ice House which featured Haunted Mansion wallpaper! We also visited many of the local small shops in town and enjoyed a glass of wine at Big Creek Vineyard winery. We toured inside of St. Mark's & St. John's Episcopal Church and saw their beautiful stained glass windows. Before checking out the Harry Packer Mansion we also visited the Asa Packer Mansion that sits right next door.
When we stopped back at The Harry Packer Mansion Inn for drinks at the Libations Lounge at the Harry Packer Mansion the staff was so kind and let us explore and tour inside the Harry Packer Mansion. I couldn't believe we actually went inside the real Haunted Mansion!
As a Disney fan this trip was a dream come true for me!

It is my dream to one day visited all the international Disney Parks as well! My travel interests also go beyond the Disney Parks, I love vlogging my cruise vacations and trips to all-inclusive resorts!
I am from Pennsylvania and grew up in a small town outside of Philadelphia. My dream is to soon relocate to the Orlando area and live near Disney!

I'm not a Disney person though I have been to Disneyworld and enjoyed it but you and your friends' enthusiasm was palpable. Very good video and well shot. Jim Thorpe is a fun town for a daytrip or weekend for sure and it was too bad the Asa Packer house was closed when you visited. You guys also might have enjoyed the train ride as it is picturesque.
This is amazing I had no idea there was a real life mansion that inspired the Disney World Haunted Mansion! The Haunted Mansion is actually my favorite ride and I am originally from PA so I will have to visit sometime! Thanks for sharing this was super cool! 😀

If you're ever in San Jose, California, you might want to visit the Winchester Mystery House. That's one of the places Walt visited for the inspiration of the other Haunted Mansion at Disneyland.

Hi! Im a resident of JT and help manage the Asa Packer mansion along with the Jim Thorpe Lions Club. Sorry to say they're not wine cellars, rather root cellars for storing vegetables. Then there is a larger one directly behind the mansion that was an ice house. We are back open for tours, hope you come back to see the inside!

The mansion is absolutely stunning, but the interior, could use some re-decorating !!! They should hire Christine McConnell to come and add some decorative period furniture and artwork to the interior !
How much does it cost to live there?
Expensive now. 300 k for a home.
