I hope you enjoyed the video!
Rest in peace, legend. You have helped me find my way through train stations around New York. Thank you.
I’m thankful that I actually got to go to the old Lechmere station in summer of 2019 before it closed. Loved the station.
RIP Old Station, thank you for long 98 years of service
I just got called to be a greenline operator!
Amazing! You’ve completely captured the memory of the old Lechmere T stop. It’s incredibly professional looking.
Brings back awesome memories of commuting to my summer internship in Cambridge. Excited to see the replacement!
Beautifully shot and compiled video. Excellent work!
Great video. Shame to see the old terminal go. It was old and outdated but there was a certain charm to it. Progress always moves forward and I'm sure the extension will be awesome
As of 2020, the Bredas were still the newer type trains on the Green Line.
Wow that station is very old indeed. Hope you give us an update in the future of the new station.
Hay primo te voy a extrañar, im gonna mis you cousing Rip Sebastian Sinisterra
On Friday, May 10, 2019, the last M-2 train set consisting of cars 8522-8523, 8738-8739 and 8736-8737 left MNRR property and embarked on their final journey of 575 miles to Frontier Industrial Corp in Ohio to be scrapped. Crews from New Haven MOE began prepping and sending cars out on November 20, 2011. The salvage program lasted 8 years.
Gonna miss the old one but the new station will also look great!
The station was a death trap. You can see very clearly how narrow the platform was. I would be surprised if nobody was ever run over. They had the chance to widen it when the station was closed during construction of the new Green Line North Station. This shows just how much the MBTA cares about its passengers.
You'd be a fool to get hit there.
Unless you're 6 feet wide, you can walk there just fine.
I like the passenger trains..👍
I was at the scene on Christmas eve in either 1995 or 1996 when someone decided to throw themsevles under 3654. This was on the C line, inbound, at St Paul. I felt sorry for the motorman.
On February 8, 2008, the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) ordered 75 new bilevel coaches from Hyundai Rotem at a cost of $190 million and those cars were delivered between 2012 and 2014. An additional 80-car order is currently under construction at Hyundai Rotem’s manufacturing plant in South Korea.
Rest easy my man…
Not Lechmere related, but the third new orange line train is expected to enter service next month and the full fleet wont be in service until 2023. As for the Red Line, six pilot cars are undergoing acceptance testing and the first new train is expected to enter service by the end of the year.
As of 2017, the M2s were the oldest rail cars still in service on Metro North. The first of the 60 additional M8s ordered in November 2016 were supposed to begin delivery in December 2018 entry into service scheduled for summer 2019 and all cars delivered by spring 2020. On October 14, 2020, Metro-North received the first two cars 9422 and 9423 at the New Haven yard. All cars should be delivered by 2023.

"Lechmere" has been gone for 23 years.
Pessaturo also said that the new Red Line cars were tested on the main tracks Thursday for the first time since March. Could this mean another Red Line CRRC train set has entered MBTA property.
