What's most amazing about this track is this is the Roses' on their way down, when band relationships had turned sour, egos manifested themselves and financial ruin was firmly on the cards. The fact that they made this when their greatness was on the wane is a testament to their genius.

This is the best music i have ever heard in my life. This is real original music and it can not get better. Music has now been written and played. When Coachella announced a year or two ago that Stone Roses would be the headlining act, people complained they were too old. *sigh* Coachella used to be cool.
Nah, it had nothing to do with their age and everything to do with the fact the stateside, almost no one knows who the Stone Roses are. They had fairly popular song in the U.S., and that's this one and hadn't put out an album in ~20 years at the time. They were just not popular enough in the U.S. (where Coachella takes place) to warrant remaining being the headliners when Blur was playing right before them and were much more well-known overseas.

Yeah Yeah Yeah
She didn't scream, she didn't make a sound
I forgive you boy, but don't leave town
Cold black skin, naked in the rain
Hammer flash in the lightning
They're hurting her again
[Chorus:]
Let me put you in the picture
Let me show you what I mean
The messiah is my sister
Ain't no king man she's my queen
[x2]
I have a dream, I've seen the light
Don't put it out, say she's alright
Yeah she's my sister
She didn't scream, she didn't make a sound
I forgive you boy, but don't leave town
Cold black skin, naked in the rain
Hammer flash in the lightning
They're hurting her again
Oh Oh
[repeat the chorus seven times]
I have a dream, I've seen the light
Don't put it out, says she's alright
Yeah she's my sister!
Is there such a thing as a hammer flash? Is that some British colloquialism?
It's about rape...
@@alexandrebelloni3880 like drinking nail polish remover because your ass is tiny

The guitar intro is proper filthy as hell & I love it. Stone Roses man just a pure magical & mesmerising unique band
I was around 8 or 9 when i heard this song... and it made me sit up and listen. My mom turned up the radio and i shut my face. Still awesome after all these years!
Legendary song. The snarl of that lead guitar…this song will live forever
Bass of this song is perfect
The guitar riffs are just perfect too
touche
FUCKING aye 🤙
everyone is, except vocalist
👍
In America when this came out, you could call a phone number and play this video on tv. I called so many times , of course it cost money, but I was 13 and didn't give a shit. It was just a jammer. Got in quite a bit of trouble. Worth it.
I miss the '90s
3:17 onwards always gets stuck in my head for DAYS after listening to this!
Same :D
I haven’t listened to it in forever and I started hearing “let me put you in the picture “ in my head about 30 seconds in...
Absolutely brilliant track and the more you hear it the better it gets. Sheer brilliance full stop.
Foxk you
This is the best music i have ever heard in my life. This is real original music and it can not get better. Music has now been written and played. You cant make music without it sounding exactly like a song that is already out. So many artists being sued because their song is like some one else's and they did not even know it.
It's great but not original. It's in fact a Led Zep tribute (they've said so).
This is so southern rock guts n blues...
For years I've admired this track.
Much respect from a southern gentleman.
❤
Eargasm!
Gabriela Coello 😍
Indeed!
Totally agree,, better than the earbuse and ear rape we have to endure with today's trash music
Probably 1 of the best tunes the roses have made. Respect!!!! Manchester in the house!!!
one of the most important songs EVER written.
For those of you that don’t know.. these guys actually inspired Oasis, especially Noel Gallagher.
Also to me, it sounds like Peter Frampton.
Love Spreads
The Stone Roses
Love spreads her arms, waits there for the nails

For those watching this in Covid 2020, singing the chorus of this song twice takes 20 seconds (assuming you’re singing at the same tempo of this song), so it’s a nice one for washing hands to. Stay well x

Still a great comment...
This sounds like 3x better coming through a radio station w the fuzz and super compression
The guitar playing is off the charts.
Fuck Coachella concert goers.. that's from across the pond🇺🇸🇺🇸 I KNOW THE STONE ROSES.. they dont know their loss. They Prob dont know Pixies either ..

"Let me put you in the picture, let me show you what I mean, the messiah is my sister,
Ain't no king matches my Queen"
Best lyrics ever written
Heard this on my car radio today for the 1st time, in a word....................................WOW!!!!!!!!!
Radio counts
This is just gold. Hands down.
This song has so much soul. I remember jamming out to this in the 90's. Good memories!
Luckily I was around when they played it regularly in the 90's but didn't really appreciate it till now, twenty something years later lol.
To the 90's! 🍻👍
Awesome band. Stone Roses first album is the best debut album ever. Greetings from Rio.
Can you feel the Hendrix?
I feel Jimmy Page.
+It's Just Me voodoo child
i can hear it too
@ Its Just Me
...definitely Jimi at 0.19/20 but also Gorillaz at 3.34 to 3.44
Honestly, this is ZZ Top all the way.
This, and "Moving on up" by Primal Scream. Two opening songs to command respect on a Juke Box visit!
they don't make em like this anymore !!
Yes they do. You just have to go find them. I've loved these guys since 1990, and i want to make "this" too. It ain't easy, but there's a lot of us out here.
@D Snodgrass I feel the kooks are a good band and have the qualities of oasis in there songs 🤷🏻♂️ that’s just me though
@@xxet3rnalro3budxx89 You should have gone too instead of asting your time for this sad old track.
one of the best indie songs ever
Manchester City FC , The Stone Roses, and Oasis... Fookin beauty...
Stone Roses were united bro
Great song off the Second Coming album...even had major traction on US radio stations; amazing!
thanks Rob B
Second Coming is one of the most underappreciated albums ever
It's Led Zeppelin too!! The best 1980's UK band along with the Psychedelic Furs and Depeche Mode. LEGENDS!
@@whitey3568 No they are very English. ALL OF THEM
How can someone talk shit about this fantastic record? If music press had any reputation, they lost it all when they decided "Second Coming" was "disappointing".
mathmss I never care about their "expert" opinions. I dont give a fuck about them
mathmss I never care about their "expert" opinions. I dont give a fuck about them
+mathmss Because the Roses chose to give a homeless newspaper, The Big Issue an interview instead of the music press. I loved the album and smoked it regularly from '95 onwards.
+mathmss Well, they did call this single a classic.
To be fair, this song is one of only a few good tracks from the album tbh.
A masterpiece
Thee greatest four piece since the Beatles
"She's not the messiah, she's my very naughty sister!"
"And I say she is the one true Messiah, and I should know---I've followed a few!"
Straight naughtiness reflects an advanced soul
This song is timeless 🎉 what a riff what lyrics pure art
Squire is probably the best british guitarist of the past 40 years.
And Mani the best british bassist.
What a fucking band.
This was the first Stone Roses song I heard. I love how it's absolutely nothing like She Bangs The Drums or Fool's Gold.
You like it because its nothing like two other songs?
@@HARPER77 No, I like how each song of theirs is totally different from the last one I hear. When I heard Fool's Gold I thought "Wow, this really is the same band that wrote Love Spreads? Nice"
I'm 42 and when i feel depressed or a little bit nostalgic, especially about the golden times when i was a teenager,i always listen to this awesome song,as you may guess, this is one of those times:)
All these years later and this one is still quite a banger!
Heather Styer is someone's sister all right.
I feel Led Zeppelin, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Hendrix.
I feel One Love
Tremendous guitar riff. Rock solid.
This song marked the top of Brit Pop back in the day.
THE best band of the 90's.
311 all the way for that bro but still a great band
Am I the only person who prefers the second coming to the stone roses album?
No mate, i do. Breaking into Heaven, Driving South, Love Spreads, Ten Storey Love Song, Straight to the Man, Daybreak, Begging You. The Second Coming is my favourite album of all time
Nope
Padraig Brosnan for this case, I must say yes. But, all of the people have a different taste of the music. And for me, the entire songs from "Second Coming" much more mature than their debut album, which is great for me😂😂
@@ryanodonnell696 dont forrget good times!
you are not the only person in nothing
all day in my head "Let me put you in the picture let me show you what I mean the messiah is my sister ain't no king man she's my queen" and so natch had to put the song on and have a feeling I'm gonna be listening to this all week.
I swear, this band is so underrated
Dude, 1994, great year!!!
There’s a quiet piano tinkle behind the guitar riff I just luv!
First heard this when I was 13. It was a huge stepping stone in terms of me moving away from the dance/pop stuff in the charts and towards rock/indie music.
Second coming is one of the best album of all time
PS. John Squire is god
