If your DCT is shifting roughly or pulling away is a little "jumpy" ???, then try this procedure and in most cases, it will sort your Honda DCT gearbox out.

Please note the bike also has to be OFF the side stand as well when doing this.
If you could "like" this video and Subscribe for more content like this I would really appreciate it Thanks
What an extremely useful slice of information for Honda owners with a DCT gearbox, and no doubt a money saver not having to go to a dealer. Well done, ER.
It works well too. Many haven't ever done this in years of owning there bike and it's like a new bike literally when they recalibrate there bikes.
I don’t have a DCT bike but I find this info very interesting and informative. Thanks.
I'm pleased about that Ray thanks for saying 👍
This is a really simple thing to do. I found the gear changes were a bit clunky especially on the downshift. Did the reset and it solved the problem instantly. So easy to do and literally takes less than 1 min from start to finish. Good tip for any dct bike.
Makes a great difference 👍🍻
Amazing, simple and easy but so helpful. Thank you 👍
I've just done this to my 21 model. Wow what a difference! Thank you for sharing this.
Yes it makes a huge difference. Thanks Yeoie👍🍻
Great vid. Followed the instructions on my 2021 Africa Twin DCT and worked a treat. Really does make a difference! 👍
Good news Chris, thanks for the feedback 🙏👍🍻
Very clear video! I do this reset every 2000km and after an oil change, but have to watch the video every time because I always forget the D D N D sequence 😂 It noticeably changes the driving experience of the dct. Only to be done with a hot engine
I also have to watch the video everytime I reset the DCT 😂Glad it helped you thanks
Thanks so much for this; my ncx had erratic starts and switched off at traffic lights sometimes. This seems to have helped.
Good news 👍it's like a new bike isn't it 👌👍😊
Very useful video, thank you for sharing with us and saving us time, money and worrying about the fault 😊
Glad it was helpful! My pleasure : )
Thank you so much for putting this up, I’ve got the 2021 model & have just gone over 4500 miles on it and am hoping this reset might cure the almost stall it occasionally does when pulling away. It fact it did cut out a couple of weeks ago pulling away from Bridge Motorcycles. I believe this may be more a ride by wire problem rather than the dct as I’ve never experienced anything remotely like this on my two previous dct’s. Anyway, I’ve reset it, had a quick blast up over Princetown and fingers crossed it’ll sort the problem out. Thank you
Hi, good to hear from you again Thankyou. Yes it will help that situation, but not cure it. I think it's the remap thats caused the issues coupled with tighter emissions control..... Damn euro5. Ride safe, hope to meet you sometime 👍🍻💯
Thank you for your video you helped me solve some problems with my bike thank you very much
Nice of you to send the feedback thanks 👍
Interesting.
Thank you very much. After following your procedure, my FORZA 750 (2021) 's DCT now runs smoothly without any problems. Regards from Spain
Great feedback, I'm really pleased, thanks Fernando👍🍻
@@exeterrider A long, long, long time ago, over 35 years ago, I spent a summer learning English in the small town of Totnes, 30 miles south of Exeter. I have fond memories of it.
@@FernandodeRibera ahh yes, I'm working in totnes this week. Nice place 🍻
Just about to try this to cure the poor gear changing on my NC when I remembered that it is a manual and it is all down to my general advanced cackhandedness....
🤣🤣👌👍
I would not know of this reset operation if not for this channel. There is no mention of it in the owners manual. Thank you for this information. I do wonder why Honda didn't put this into the manual since it seems quite important.
I guess it would make sense to them to keep it quiet so when you take your bike in for a oil service then they would do it and it would make it seem like that oil service worked miracles!

L72 👍, nice informative share, alas I have a 2018 model but still interesting to watch. Would you do a video for earlier models and does it follow through with other DCT models like the AT? Stay blessed and safe on two wheels, your biker brother Traveller MIA 🇬🇧
czcams.com/video/STr8VI8DB50/video.html hi MIA, I have already made one for older models. Thanks for watching. Ride safe👍💯👌
@@exeterrider cheers buddy I will watch it later for sure 👍👍
@@exeterriderthanx for this 🙏
@@quesadilla79 no worries mate
Thank you very much for this video. I've had it done by the dealer last year on an 2021 ATAS and it was great but now I've had issues again with my DCT and am considering doing it myself. Do you have any recommendations on how to deal with the "very long to boot up" main screen on the ATAS? Or should I forget about it and just concentrate on the basic lower screen? Thanks again
The top screen has more info so I would stick with that but yes it can seen to take a long time to boot I know 👍
Thank you@@exeterrider Patience is key! 🙂
Useful guide. How often does it need doing?
Every 1500 miles or so I use the process. With DCT, it can get a bit "jerky" when pulling away and slightly jerky when pulling away. This softens the whole bike out again👍🍻
Tried this on my new NT1100 after 2000 miles. Unfortunately, did not work and the display (M, D, S1, S2, S3) disappeared 🙁🙁 I now have to guess what mode I am in. Any ideas ??
What is the DCT like on a sudden adverse camber uphill hairpin bend (like the Exeter Rd as you enter Moretonhampstead)? The sort of place I might feather the clutch in 2nd or even 1st gear…
It's actually easier I find, use the throttle as you normally would and the DCT works it all out for you. Very clever stuff.
@@exeterrider - ha. A bit like a leap of faith. I must try it one day. Maybe Bridge have a demo.
They do already mate, pop down and try it. They had a nc and a 750forza👌🍻👍
Try the bike from Bridge & if you want to feel how good the DCT is on the Moretonhampstead Road stick it in Sports Mode. That road is made for the bike 😃
Do you recommend doing this before the first service, or is the dealership going to do it anyway as part of that service? I’ve been wondering why sometimes from a cold start I can hear the transmission doing things at idle before I pull away. Maybe mine auto calibrates itself sometimes (CMX1100 DCT).
To my knowledge, I think dealers do this on the bigger services but do someone's do it on the oil services aswell. Check what I'm saying with the dealer but down the line after a few thousand miles I would start doing this more regularly. As I said, do check with the dealer to see if they do it when servicing 👍🍻
very helpful ,,, but on a 2021 bike how did you get it to that stage in the first place ? what happened . cheers simon .
Routine adjustment much like adjusting a chain. 👍🍻
Any chance of doing a full dash set up , Including the date that seems to be backward or american style I,e 222705 instead of 270522
I have so much to film at the moment but it is on my "to do" list
Hi! You guys had ever encountered starting the cold engine and immediately it stops, then starting normal on 2nd go?
Nope not me
Hi Exeter!.
Quick question please.
Does it make any difference if this reset is done on the centerstand/sidestand/upright/ rider on...?.
Or any which way?!.
Many thanks.
🖖
Hi Lyndon, it's a centerstand or Rider on job..... Its easier to do just sat on it tbh. Are you the famous Lyndon P?
@@exeterrider Ha no. I'm just a chap who used to live in St Agnes who owns an Nc!.
Many thanks for reply ER, been a subscriber for a while now,and your vids went a long way towards me getting the ncdct.
Great channel. 👍
@@lyndonp3391 Brill Lyndon. Glad you're enjoying it. I can't see me selling mine ever, just to good at many things 👍🍻
Will this work for keyless ignition by pressing the on button and turning the off/lock ring?
I couldn't comment Kevin sorry. I have only done this on bikes with key ignition.
@@exeterrider Hello again, I have just tried the procedure on the X-ADV (2022) at 85C using the console on button and stop knob and it worked. The pronounced jerk on pull away has gone. Thanks for your help
@@kevinlewis3200 thanks so much for the update there Kevin, it means when I get asked again I can say yes it does work. Thanks 👍👍
Hi pal this looks similar to my africa twin dct 2020 1100 , would this be the same although you have stated 2021 ??
My bike has 3500 miles on it and has just stalled first time but has been threatening to stall on previous occasions, I'm hoping this may be the issue??
Not sure it will help that issue tbh, but there is no harm in trying.
Hi, I have Honda 2022 NT 1100 D can I reset my DCT same way?
I don't know tbh, I would guess so!?
In late November Honda issued a recall on some 2021 NC750X DCT bikes in USA, Europe and Japan. They’ve determined a software problem in the fuel injection control module programming. Contact your Honda dealer/service dept. They will update the software for the fuel injector module, as well as the software for the DCT. I tried adding a link to the recall notice but YT deleted it.
Yes I have heard of this. Glad you know about it too👍🍻
Should it work with keyless models? (Forza750)
Should do 👍
Tried, worked, now it’s really smooth!!!
@@kronometer_viktor good news👍👍👍👍🏍️
Aside from a design flaw, what causes the need for a reset in the first place?
No design flaws . Anything mechanical with constant moving parts such as clutch and auto boxes have many tolerances and adjustments to be made. So the reset just adjusts the 2 clutches and gearbox selector solenoids for perfect shifting : )
Konami code vibes on that reset procedure
Not sure that makes sense but, it dosent do much for vibes no👌🍻
To do the reset you should hold the d button down, turn they key AND WAIT FOR THE YELLOW ENGINE LIGHT TO GO OUT and then do the reset as shown
That happens pretty much instantly on the 2021 compared to older models I found, do you think the same mark? I'll pin this one though incase I'm missing something 👍🍻
@@exeterrider I have a 2021 and yes it is fairly quick, but worth just keeping an eye on it especially as the reset is the same for all dct bikes regardless of the age and button types.
Hi brother i try it with my xadv 2021 but the problem i have is the d flashing is not working , any help , i make the same steps
Hi, engine needs to be really hot before you do the process 🔥👍
Is there a specific reason for this to happen? IE. Changing out battery, disconnecting battery for service work?
Generally speaking it's a good thing to do every 2000 miles or so just to keep the DCT selectors tuned.
@@exeterrider Thanks for the info.
👌👍🍻
Does the engine has to be warm.. can it be done from cold
No it needs to be fully hot, not just warm. It won't work from cold.
This works really Well..
@@johnbaker9483 amazing isn't it 👍👍🍻👏
After i do this my motorcycle wont start.. what should i do?
Sounds like you have other issues I think. 1000s of time this process has been used and there's no issues. Perhaps a side stand issue?
